There are millions of blacks here now that came AFTER the Civil War so are not descended from slaves There are millions of whites who came here after the Civil War, so had nothing to do with slavery here There are millions of white Americans here who are descended from the Union and fought to free the slaves So who sorts through all of that? You certainly can't make it a blanket pay every black, and all whites have to pay it. However as I sit here and write this, there is certainly a potential solution. It's dawned on me that the talk of reparations seems to be all coming only from the Democrat Party, which actually might make sense, that they feel a sense of responsibility. After all, the Democrat Party was the south, and were the slave owners. Republicans, the party of Lincoln, fought against slavery and were at the forefront of every civil rights proposal since then. So since they have this tremendous sense of guilt now for past transgressions, I think any reparation discussion MUST only be how the Democrat Party plans to pay those reparation costs. I think this is the only way to decide who among the whites should be made to pay up. Not sure how to sort among blacks for who should get paid, but I'm sure the Democrats can come up with something..
