Now that's been fifty years ago an' if you go by there yet There's a spot in the yard in the back of that shack Where the ground is always wet And on certain nights if the moon is right Down by that dark footpath You can hear three young men screaming And you can hear one old man laugh

Me and all my friends We're all misunderstood They say we stand for nothing and, There's no way we ever could Now we see everything that's going wrong With the world and those who lead it We just feel like we don't have the means To rise above and beat it

I can see very well There's a boat on the reef with a broken back And I can see it very well There's a joke and I know it very well It's one of those that I told you long ago Take my word, I'm a madman, don't you know

Now I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah

What I feel, I can't say But my love is there for you anytime of day But if it's not love that you need Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed Tell me, what is my life without your love Tell me, who am I without you, by my side

I hold many great memories from my childhood about Christmas and the yearly traditions that go with it. It is kinda sad that people don't value those traditions that much anymore. My family had a greenhouse business, so Christmas was a big deal. There were wreaths to be made, ( ah, the smell of fresh cut pine boughs) and decorated. The greenhouse was full of poinsettias and cyclamen and other holiday plants that delightfully decorated the inside. The whole family (Aunts, Uncles, cousins) gathered to help with decorating, delivering and such. At the end all that would be left were a couple plants that no one wanted and maybe a wreath or two. Everything culminated with Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone gathered to celebrate in our Grandparents house and after a good dinner, the sweets were laid out. There were every kind of cookie known to man, Christmas pie and cakes, and the only thing that was not home made were a couple of kuechens from the Genesee Bakery a christmas tradition that was "Oh so good" .(still is) After deserts and coffee, the adults would peel off for a cocktail, and all the kids would chase each other around the mostly empty greenhouse playing tag or some other game. When things settled down we would all open a couple of presents, and then it was time for the older kids and adults to head off to midnight mass. The younger kids were put to bed and coerced to go to sleep, otherwise Santa wouldn't show up. Of course Santa always did show up. He may have not had exiting expensive toys but every kid got a present from Santa. Christmas day featured another great dinner and deserts, and the day ended with all gathering together for stories (many we heard again and again) from the olden days. I didn't always appreciate this part of the day when I was young, but as I got older this was my favorite part of the holiday.

I always was creeped out by this song about a guy dying in the ambulance after he was in a plane crash. He describes in detail how mangled and bloody his body was and how he fealt through the whole thing. The song was based on a band member that was involved in a small plane crash and subsequentially died. The band, Bloodrock, in my opinion was a solid rockband for its time, featuring John Nitzinger, one of my favorite guitarist.

There fixed it for you.

Sugar Plum Fairy came and hit the streets Looking for soul food and a place to eat Went to the Apollo You should've seen them go, go, go They said, "Hey, sugar, Take a walk on the wild side." I said, "Hey, babe, Take a walk on the wild side." All right, huh

These guys were local to our neighborhood. Saw them many times at the Arcade and Red Creek. They went on to be a national act, and I actually saw them in the 80's in Phoenix. My Roomate was a drinking acquaintence of Greg Walker, and Greg once gave him 4 of their albums (including this one) as a souvenir when he visited his studio, they are one of his prized possessions to this day.

This is one of I and the wife's all time favorites. We played it yesterday, before dinner. We all even sang it in 4 part harmony (after it came around on the guitar again)
