Congressman Shot At Baseball Practice
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No way any gun-regulation legislation is a viable subject these days, and I highly doubt the ACHA expands what awful job the ACA did for mental health coverage for policy holders, rather my guess it only provides less access... I think apathy defines my stance on this story. Just something we have to live with, just hope you're not in the wrong place wrong time. -
What would you trade for Phil Rivers right now?
B-Large replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'd retire before he moved his big family- nothing personal against Buffalo. If he were to move, I assume it's not to one of the thre punching bags of the AFCE that are vying for 2nd at best in the division. If he were to move, I have think Denver would be a make sense landing spot- beefed up Defensive line to compliment elite talent at the edges and secondary, and an offense that just needs to move the ball and not make a lot of mistakes but has some good talent at skill positions. -

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

You tend to be interconnected with people through social media that confirm your point of view... it's why I encourage my wife whose pretty liberal and has a new interest in politics to read a source like TAC a few times a week. She assumed Conservative means Republican; but as she's found out that's not always the case. It takes effort to sift through the sensationalized bull ****, but when you do you find you enjoy the subject matter a lot more, and the chasm you believed was so vast between people who see things differently might no be that big after all. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
B-Large replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The preferred position is often cleverly relayed, there is a panel split screen of 3-4 "experts" whom we are led to believe have expertise/ credibility even without any sort vetting, and it's usually a 3-1 victory of panelists whom confirm the preferred position. It happens so fast, like you said sensationalized, that most humans don't have a chance to/ nor have the motivation to challenge it. Your question in an excellent one, I have to think about that for a bit. -

24 hour cable news might be the worst thing to ever happen to this nation. it struck me the other day at the gym watching Fox, MSNBC and CNN how passive your mind can be watching it....you never stop and think about it because it just rolls on segment after segment after segment. But then again most people are too lazy to read news, or quality journalism. Cable news banks on the intellectually lazy, and those who just want to reside in an echo chamber. Reading forces you to discern, contrast, think critically- watching it lulls you into a coma. Cable News sucks. -
Ominous commensurate with Covfefe's mystique....

You're all stupid. Covfefe is a completely shaven, stylish young gent who delivers the best hand relief in DC. POTUS is a stressful job, nobody could imagine how hard it could be, sometimes you just need some Covfefe.... Covfefe.

At what point did the 90's nostalgia wear off for you?
B-Large replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think most Bills fan feel like they have nothing to lose, like whether the Bills suck, or fall short or half ass as an organization... nothing is lost. it didn't used to be like that, there was a ton to lose. It's an awful feeling. -

B-Large replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill Polian said something along the lines of that group of men during that era were special, unlikely to be seen again... he was correct, it was a special run the NFL, SB or no Super Bowl. These days, I'll go to a bar and watch Bills TNF or SNF or MNF games, but most I skip. I used to go to a Bills bar and watch each week until the season was over, so by Halloween sometimes, but I found I like to be more productive on Sundays as I've gotten older. I get the Broncos games in my house for free, they're always competitive, I've taken a liking to following them, but I'll always be a Buffalo fan. I watched all of Kelly's 1992 TD passes in YouTube recently... it struck me how ancient that footage looked. -
The ACA and ACHA is a hairsplitting contest somewhere between and true free market cash system and a tax payer funded single payer system. The game consists of who can mangle a health care system with the intent of pleasing all the stakeholders... that why it's so ridiculous to watch, the Bills produced tend to suck.

I'd rather dislike Pence for his hard right positions on issues than having Trump tweeting retarded nonsense for another 3.5 years. I respect Pence, even though I don't agree with some of the things he believes in. -

Mike Pence would be a breathe of fresh air, and welcomed by just about everybody. I'd love to see this sideshow end, Trump is embarassing the country. -
Trump Fires James Comey!
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Trump is an idiot if he thinks firing Comey will make it all go away, so let's work on the assumption he just needed to me fired and a fresh face needed to be installed. But the over reaction is very entertaining. -
Trump Fires James Comey!
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Comey's been a man with no home since he perceived Hillary as a sure winner in the Fall, and released the emails so there we're no questions when she took office that he withheld vital information. She didn't win, all the sudden he intervened and swayed the election... you can't win for losing I guess. The timing and subsequent annoyance of the story that won't go away suggests the motivation for his Firing by the WH, but then again if Trump wants this to go away, he didn't disband the entire FBI- so to suggest its to squash this is kind of silly. It looks like a clean slate move- make of it what you will, or what cable news of your choice leads you to believe... -

Kim is a "Smart Cookie"..... -
He laid out a written 100 day plan from the perspective of a private company CEO- I think that fact alone showed how ignorant he was about the job in any way, shape or form. That being said, what has he accomplished. I'd like a list of regulations in detail that have been eliminated, not this broad brush that seems to suffice most people, and the thought process to why these are such big moves. Second, picking a judge off a list provided for you is not an amazing accomplishment, to me it's just part of the job. The guy flip flops all over the place, tweets about nonsense most of the time, and I think somewhat regrets winning. The fact that he hasn't been able to do dumb ****, grade C.

question for capitalists here
B-Large replied to Watkins_deep's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Our government is foundational and its powers are specifically laid out in text. It's power to tax very concrete. It's not about socialism versus capitalism, Congress has the legal power to collect taxes and fund government responsibilities. Now what government "should" fund is a whole different question.
