I Sure Hope That Stupid Wall Gets Built
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know about effective, it would certainly be more fun... I know that with certainty. Good point. Craft well thought-out policy, support TX, AZ and NM in enforcement and let California rot into a fester cesspool of crime and debt.... we can call it the 3/4's Plan. There has to be a way to strong arm California into reasonable changes to immigration policy without defaulting to open border, open amnesty, etc. -

No- needs get met, and there is a need for immigrant labor, and also demand for illicit drugs. A physical barrier feels good because you can see something that appears to address the problem, but truth is the problem is solved through well thought out policy, tweaking those policies as needed, and by beefing up forces to enforce those laws. A wall is the simple the F35 of the immigration issue, imo. -
I'd eat her ass like groceries....

Who are you going to watch now that Bills suck
B-Large replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a weird sport now that I think about it. We reward poor performance with access to the best entry athletes the following year, and we as fans fiercly defend allegiance to a team that has not earned it on merit in what constitutes 1/5 of the average male human life span. All the same, I'll be there opening day, thinking it will be different, this will be the year... lol, god we're all stupid. -
Who are you going to watch now that Bills suck

I go to the bar and watch the games for the food and fellow Bills fans.... I assume the Bills are going to get fisted by the Patriots and probably **** away 1-2 games that they should win that would position them for a WC. But I'll always be proud to be from, and to wear the gear. But for the excitement of the NFL season I watch/ follow the Broncos- it's reminds me of how Buffalo was in the 90's, when you expected to play in January, and heads rolled if you didn't. Denver tends to always be I the hunt or not down very long, it's nice to follow a team that plays meaningful games late in the season, reason to stop what I'm doing on Sundays and tune in. -
I like the idea of a single risk pool for all citizens, coupled with some sort off individual annual deductible and HSA. The shell game of subsidizing expensive private individual insurance plans hopefully is coming to an end.

Private insurance contracts place Medicare rate plus a percentage above. Nobody plays full list charges in healthcare. We close to Medicare front time to time because the patients are often veryvtime consuming, and resource heavy- yes the reimbursement is lower, but it's more nuanced than justvdollars and cents.

PPP Trump Job Approval: Six Months In
B-Large replied to Dorkington's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He hasn't really done much other than tweet mostly nonsense, oversee a white house in turmoil and nuke his parties efforts to address healthcare. -
The solution today, tomorrow, in 2 years, in 5 years outside of Single Payor will essentially be the Affordable Care Act. The GOP has been on a boat ride in Fantasy Land for the last 6 months, and the last 7 years for that matter. Tax credit schemes for individual insurance policies will not be less expensive, easier to understand or provide better outcomes. I'm looking forward to seeing this dog and pony show end and a move toward tax reform.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
B-Large replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's about changing a mindset of comprehensive back to incrementalism. Central Planning and the perceived leverage and economies of scale that it brings rarely materialize. The breadbasket is a totally different animal than the power coasts.... why are we compelled to think comprehensive solutions can serve these different groups best? Let each State decide if the want big government or not, but let's reduce the scope of National Government to create that choice... I think people would be much happier... -
Empathy doesn't save money. Having a closed system that is only willing to spend X on healthcare as decided by its citizens and an unwillingness to borrow to fund an open end system like ours is probably the case.. that and systematic efficiencies and simplicity of a national system.

Insurance companies don't want to compete for customers that by law ensure they lose money. This whole competition in insurance is a myth. Health insurers wanted people who paid premium who never made claims. If you want to see kind of free market health insurance, think about pre 2010... that was an ideal rime for insurers. This country really is incredible when it comes to healthcare. We may be about to overhaul 1/6 of our economy for the second time and still will end up paying twice what other nations pay per head, and not have everybody covered. We're still have not done anything about cost of care, procedures, meds. We still don't have a nationally integrated IT system and have armies of people still faxing, yes faxing pertinent pt. Medical records from provider to provider. We have armies of billing people sitting around processing claims and fighting denials. We still budget/ reimburse based on volume and in person visits, but on quality of outcomes. We have overfunded innovation in technology and pharma, but continue to underfund the science and reasearch that helps us determine the usefulness of that innovation. Color me not impressed.

Nancy Pelosi is a bumbling reminder of a time that has since passed.... she has to go, or at least take a quit seat in the back. Republicans will !@#$ up and Democrats will be the party of favor, and back and forth over and over again. We only have two relevant political parties in the country, and one party rule is abhorrent to most Americans.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
B-Large replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Has he even signed anything of substance coming from the legislative branch? So voting in a Democrat would repudiate a president who really hasn't signed anything from congress... hmm, that sounds more like it would be a repudiation of a congress with dismal approval numbers. Or simple that the voting block in that district has changed. -
What ever it is, is appears pretty gay based on this thread.

Or change the law here and let CMS negotiate drug purchases for Medicare. You want drug prices to drop, tell drug companies their single largest customer is done subsidizing the rest of the world. All the sudden we get volume discounts, and other countries start to share the burden. But that won't happen because companies control the government. I can't wait to see this Senate bill that screws a lot citizens, protects monied interests like the ACA, and will still have us paying double what other counties pay per citizen. It will a proud moment.
