I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better
NewEra replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Adding on comparison of play making units Josh has had. I’d take Shakir over Beasley every day of the week. While Cole may have been a bit more cerebral in in knowledge of zones, Shakir isn’t very far behind him. Slight edge to Beasley in that regard. not that Beasley had poor hands, but Shakir has him beat there imo. the YAC with Shakir is just in a different stratosphere. He makes the first guy miss in almost every one on one. He’s short area explosion and start stop make him special in that regard. Then add in his strength and squatty body, you have the perfect slot WR. The added dimension of screen pass success to Shakir (vs Beasley) is just another layer of production that sets him apart. people can talk about arm length all they want- just watch the tape. He’s a stud. Prime diggs is definitely better than 2024 cooper, but cooper is a better field stretcher and his size/attitude is more beneficial. Keon is better than Gabe. No doubt McKenzie vs Samuel goes to McKenzie based on current production with the team but that could change. John Brown/sanders aren’t really the correct comp for Hollins. They should be compared to Keon, while Gabe compared to hollins. Either way, the past version are way better WRs than Hollins… but Hollins serves his purpose. Our past teams lacked in one area specifically- short game run after the catch. No one was worried about Our RBs, TE, Beasley, Diggs, Brown or Gabe running after the catch. Opponents shelled us to death and we could do nothing to combat it at times. While our play makers are much better running after the catch based on their physical traits, Mack and Keon (plus Kincaid,Knox) really help open things up for them. Hollins routinely takes his man out of the play. He has a niche in this offense and I expect him to still make a few big catches as the season goes on. The physical size and nature of our WR room is much better suited for the cold weather come playoff time. add in: TE and RB rooms aren’t even comparable. OL- better than solid, but I wouldn’t call them great. Either way, an upgrade. -
And I also admitted my defeat…..amidst the arrogance. To be fair, the article was posted October 2nd. This may or may not currently still be the case

Reported by whom? Link? Insinuating due to standing next to LBs in the team photo. Dude weighed 198 in College. And now he’s a LB? other here have said it’s been reported that he’s a S. i think the Bills website might actually be something of substance https://www.buffalobills.com/team/players-roster/ 6’2 199. Listed as a Safety. Or maybe he’s a 199 pound LB. First one ever edit: just googled and you are correct- a month ago it was reported. I haven’t seen anything, other than from this site stating that the move to LB was reversed. https://www.niagara-gazette.com/sports/former-first-round-pick-lewis-cines-fresh-start-with-bills-comes-with-switch-to-linebacker/article_ca05d380-85ab-11ef-ad37-83d2c9bc5c29.amp.html up to 210 with a goal to reach 215-218. Interesting. That was almost 2 months ago. Wonder where this stands now

Bishop is learning a completely different defense. One that he said is much different that his previous experience. He had one start and his blown coverage turned out to be the difference in the game. 1 start. 1 L. agree to disagree. I was once in agreement with you, until I saw him play. He can’t process fast enough atm. And that’s why he’s on the bench.
-
According to many, this is not true

Why draft Kaiir Elam over Christian Benford if you didn’t junk he was better? well, they did think he was better. Then life happened and they realized he wasn’t. I was hoping bishop would be starting too. I’m not happy with Hamlin starting…..but he’s currently the better player. Bishop still has a lot to learn and he’s not ready to be a starter and could cause us games. Developing a 2nd rd draft pick isn’t more important than winning games for this team.

no, it’s just the opposite. Diggs gets ripped because he dropped a pass that hit him in stride in the mitts. He gets ripped because he’s supposed to make the catch. sure, he gets credit for catching the ball and running a clear path with no one near him into the end zone. Marcus Williams got destroyed for making one of the worst plays in playoff history. Why is that? Because it’s HIS fault that play occurred. Not Diggs’ diggs did his job and scored because of someone else’s suck. Williams’ suck was the “miracle”. Not the catch and run

Poll: Would you trade Coleman for Worthy straight up?

Poll: Would you trade Coleman for Worthy straight up?

@LostWhy make this poll anonymous? -
No, I’m talking about physically feeling the defender, and using their momentum and positioning to creating distance between himself and the defender. One can do this with their hands, arms and even footwork.
-
🤷🏻♂️ I think a WR is capable of creating distance between him and his defender by the use of leverage. Is creating distance not the same thing as separation? I agree that a WR can “win” with leverage as well, but that’s not exactly creating distance. I believe that winning with leverage can actually create distance

But this isn’t an argument about trading Edwards…. I’m asking dude how he knows that no one wanted him in free agency Those that have a clue know the reasons @HappyDays has clued you in on those reasons
-
Not that anyone asked me, nor cares, but I’d like to add that I think a WRs ability to utilize leverage and feel (of the defender) is also a component to separation ability, especially for those lacking in the longer speed dept
-
@FireChans we signed him 7 days into free agency- yet sadness brigade vice jester DC knows that no one wanted him. Since he can’t validate how he knows this, can you? sorry you got all butt hurt last night, but this is a poor battle (and poster) to defend.
-
No, I don’t act like that at all. I’ve probably b*****ed about that drop more than anyone on earth.
-
awesome!! Thanks for sharing
-
And you know this how? Because no one else signed him after 6 days of free agency? 👌

RIP @John from Riverside Thank you for your passionate and engaging discussions. Your love for the Bills stood out amongst the rest. Rest easy my friend

MVP is based on one thing- being the QB of a #1 seed
-
And we didn’t have a healthy Shakir for either of them. We didn’t have Amari cooper.
-
I have no clue….but based on our separation stats and the amount of quick passes to the flats we’ve thrown to Shakir, I would think passes into the flat aren’t taken into account.
-
He posted a graph based on 8 weeks. After 6 weeks, we knew our separation was bad. It had been linked. Did anyone expect that graph to change after 2 games and only 50 snaps from cooper? If we had added Justin Jefferson or Chase and they played 50 snaps the graph would read just about the same.

But stats!!!!!

What does Elam and a pick get you in this market?
NewEra replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who is talking about being a bust? Maybe you can move the goal posts even further next time. YES, CURRENTLY SPEAKING- ELAM IS OBVIOUSLY A BUST. That doesn’t mean anything with regards to him being our best backup boundary corner in 2024 and possibly competing for a starting spot in 2025…..which was our conversation……until you decide to move the goal posts. night mang -

NewEra replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
lol. I believe he’s the best backup boundary corner we have. I believe that there’s a trade deadline and that we won’t be able to trade for another if benford or Douglas goes down. I believe that you jump to ridiculous conclusions. You believe that Elam would be getting snaps, either over superior players or playing him out of position if they planned on giving him a try next season…..because he got more snaps in his rookie year in a committed with a then unproven Benford. Well, benford is now proven. Douglas is proven. There aren’t any snaps for him because of them being proven. This isn’t rocket science. They aren’t going to give him snaps over either of them….or playing a different position that doesn’t suit his needs. You can troll and put words in my mouth all you want. That’s what you do. I never said I believe in Elam. I believe that he’s our best backup and that he will given a shot to earn a role next year
