Fitz - If you feel good about the Chiefs, you’re in denial
NewEra replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
But what does it mean? “Meaning a lot” isn’t the answer to your question. -

You can be optimistic- it doesn’t mean anything. You can be pessimistic based on the ravens and Texans games. It just doesn’t mean anything. that was the question that you asked. I answered. I’m usually happy and VERY optimistic. And I’d be VERY optimistic even if we had lost to KC. i’m just doing what you do to others. -

You started this off with the first quote- in reality- it means absolutely nothing about the 2024 Bills- it’s one game. Teams line up and battle it out once a week for 17 weeks then some teams make the playoffs and do the same thing with their seasons at stake. What has happened in week 1-18 means nothing. Whichever teams come in the most prepared, receives the best coaching, is the healthiest, receives the most luck and plays the best has the better chance to come away with the win. a regular season win doesn’t mean anything. Zip. To answer your question. Any given Sunday -

There are many easy wins. The perfect game was not a dogfight. Like @Coach Tuesdaysaid- they’ve got a hold of you -

It means nothing- And that means exactly what? -
I agree with the premise but you’re not giving Benford enough credit. Calling him average in any other system is 👎🏻. Saying the “he’s nothing more than a product of this Stystem” is equally disrespectful I agree that mcds D has helped him become better than he would be on other teams and mcd has coached him up but he’s better than average and he’s definitely something more than a product of this system. Levi and Dane left here and signed for 4-5M per year. They were clearly products of the system….and either were ever even considered “good”. Benford may be an all pro this season. - most definitely pro bowl. His coverage is sticky and he knows how to use his hands well enough to rarely get flagged. He may be the best tackling CB in the league. That particular skill isn’t ever based on a system. Benford would be good in most systems. Not many teams play lots of zone and benfords man defense continues to improve. He’s not “average”.

I agree with most of this- and as I said I think he may be a good player and have a solid career. I didn’t wanted to trade him and I believe he’s likely going to be starting opposite Benford next season. But do we even pick up his 5th year option? Maybe- But we can’t judge a players “worth” based on what we think he might be next year or the year after….pr how he played in training camp. We can only base it on how he’s produced and snaps played in actual nfl games. He couldn’t get on the field over Dane Jackson. Can Lewis and Jamarcus Ingram play over him (albeit not as outside corner). It’s year 3 and he’s played 89 snaps (58 in one game). He’s played in 12% of the snaps this season and almost 15% last season- after playing 45% his rookie season Good GMs don’t trade up for a cornerback with the plan to have him start in year 3 or 4. This is not my opinion- this is reality. I like the player- I think he can be good. To date- it’s a failed pick
-
To date, he is absolutely a failed 1st rd pick- I think might be a solid CB and have a nice career- but he’s a failed 1st rd pick to date
-
Of course we all rather that happen….. but none of us would be heartbroken (as dude said) if Mahomes were to be out and we were to beat them.

Yes- that’s an absurd statement. -

Are kickers not part of special teams? The vast majority - care to show us the stats? -
End of season run, what can change for the main players?
NewEra replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that there are a lot of factors that go into teams winning Super Bowls. Luck being a key factor (injuries, refs, idiotic plays, bad bounces, etc). coaches and their game plans playing a massive part. I think the chiefs have the edge on the league in that department and that usually gives them an edge on the competition. my take on the chiefs- their OT’s are dragging the team down and Mahomes has taken a step back because of that. I also thought that to be the case last season- and then the playoffs happened and those tackles that were the most penalized in the league, became the least penalized in the league thanks to the refs (ie: luck). The chiefs played a better team (the bills)….who were playing without benford, Milano, Bernard, rapp, injured Douglas (ie: luck). Refs allowing the chiefs OTs to hold in the Super Bowl and a bad bounce on a punt (ie: luck) played a big part in their SB win vs the Niners. But the chiefs have added some solid pieces on O (some injured) and I think the refs will likely swallow their whistles in playoffs which will lead to a KC resurgence on O, similar to last year. They have proven that they can find a way- but the luck will run dry at some point. But when? I think the Bills can win the SB. I thought they were the best team in the league last season- but injuries prevented us from reaching our ceiling. We were on a roll until the steeler playoff game took some of our best players from us. With those players healthy, I think we would’ve won (as KC targeted our their replacements and our lesser players all game). my overall take on the Bills chances will be available when the inactive lists come out each week. With the proper talent, I believe our coaching staff is good enough to get the job done. Without that talent, they’ve proven they are not….. but that could change this year as I’m a fan of our coordinators. The 2023 Bills were not looking good this time last season. We were out of the playoffs. Then something happened. Lots can happen between now and the end of the season. I’m not into predicting what that will be. Anything can happen. I sit back and enjoy watching the book being written. the chiefs have a good enough chance at the #1 seed to not eliminate them from achieving “bye week”, especially in November- which is what you did. Along with the Bills and chiefs, I think the Lions, eagles, packers, ravens, Steelers and chargers have a chance to turn their season into a Lombardi. Vikings, I need to watch more of, but Flores has been impressive enough to throw them into the conversation. Which teams stay the healthiest? Which teams will benefit from the most luck? Lots of unknowns to be determined in November -
The irony…..You’re the one spending your short time alive on opposing teams message boards disputing every anti chief post- so it surely seems to me that, YES, biased fans opinions matter TO YOU

There’s definitely a chance that they do that again. welcome to the board and I applaud the optimism in your posts, but posts like this are very premature. It’s November -

I agree, they look tired to me. Problem is, they did last season too -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems

Same- we gave up a future 1st and 2nd iirc to draft Losman….but we didn’t make the move up 3 spots to get Big Ben, instead drafting Lee Evans. That was rough and made the drought years more painful than ever while watching him win 2 super bowls -
Every teams main concern is the QB staying healthy. In our case, our next biggest concern is the coaching staff coming through in the playoffs.

“Espns roster rankings” LOL. Some guy who works are ESPN gives his rankings- As if that means anything at all 🧌

Week 11 - Chiefs at Bills Game Week Thread
NewEra replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
There’s your numbers. K thanks Looks like I wasn’t greatly exaggerating and my eyes were telling me the truth -
I don’t know if that’s the case- I hope you’re right Or the packers sold out to stop him because their QB was Brandon Allen I concur
-
Need is a strong word. I’m one of his biggest fans and hope that we do…. But I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think we extend Benford.
-
Hired as DC/promoted to DC- same difference. It doesn’t change the fact that you think he was PROMOTED to DC to be his scapegoat because of some smell…. Not because he thinks he’s a promising young defensive mind. you’re saying the reason an NFL head coach hired his defensive coordinator is to be his sacrificial lamb in case things went bad. That’s insane to me and yes, I think it’s a terrible take. I’m not the only one.

Our 2nd half defense has been stellar. The ravens game was a poor showing (while also playing with Bernard and Taron). Babich tried to replace them and play his same game plan. Cam and Spector couldn’t play the part that games and Babich failed miserably. other than that- I think our D has been solid. Not fantastic (other than the 2nd halves). We clearly need to have Bernard and Taron out there if we want to be a good defense. I’m be eager to see how he plays the Niners and Lions. Two excellent run teams with potent passing attacks. first time play caller- I’ve been very impressed, but he needs his horses
-
Douglas isn’t going to resign here and move to safety. corners make more money and he’s still a good starting corner. Zero chance of him moving to S imo. Rapp is entrenched for the next 2 seasons. We drafted Bishop in rd 2. Douglas will play CB somewhere in 25
-
He hasn’t been worth it due to injury. If he hadn’t gotten injured, he would’ve been worth it 💯 imo. if we win the Super Bowl and he plays a part, then he’ll be worth it again.
