This is the point of my original post. He CAN get separation and run very good routes. He CAN get deep and push defenses back to cover the 15-30 yard pass. We’ve barely tried to let him show it. I can recall 3 great intermediate-deep routes that led to 3 huge plays for us this season. One of which was a game winner. It would’ve been nice to see more of them early on, but Brady was too busy calling WR screens and Josh was too busy bailing from the pocket prematurely. to answer your question, he can help move the chains. He could also help keep defenses honest if we took some shots with him. But we don’t.

lol. Did I even say that. I said that he isn’t being used effectively. He’s a proven route runner that can get separation and can help this offense more than he has to date. also, I don’t think his contract is THAT bad. He can certainly prove to be worth a 2 year 21M contract.

right, but you said that there’s no evidence. Finishing towards the top of the league in yards per catch every season is evidence that he can do exactly what this team needs. Make plays downfield. He can do it, yet Josh and Brady rarely give him the chance.

Except there actually is evidence. He’s consistently in the top 10 in yards per catch. He’s made lots of plays downfield. I’m not saying that he’s great, but he’s shown to be a capable downfield producer much more than he has been with us. His usage is questionable imo

Yup. We just need to make better use of him and his skillset.

I think his usage and lack of connection with Josh hurts more than his contract. He can play and do a lot of what we need….yet it’s just not there.

And this is why judging the teams chances to win it all in sept and October is comical. Injuries and player/coaching progressions and how they adapt is more important than anything happening in those months imo. Lots changes throughout the season

Ceiling is 1st team All-Pro. If he keeps this type of play up, he’ll be a pro bowler this season
