Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servant, and give your power of healing to those who minister to her needs, that she may be strengthened in her weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Details of Biden's Border Security Bill Show It Won't Work - and That's Probably the Plan FTA: This deal would allow 1.825 million illegals to enter the US every year. Once the 5,000 daily threshold is reached, the Border Patrol is allowed to remove them immediately. The obvious question is, why 5,000? Why not 0? Because if you can close the border at 5,000, you can close it at 0...and if you can't close it at 0, you can't close it at 5,000. It looks like the first 5,000 across the line are allowed to request asylum; the rest aren't. I don't see how that survives any sort of legal challenge. Immediate removal sounds nice, but that authority only applies to Mexicans. The Mexican government usually doesn't accept Other Than Mexicans (OTMs) because they are illegal immigrants. The border is no longer in crisis when the number of daily illegals falls below 3,750. Allowing 1.369 million illegal immigrants into the US every year doesn't sound like control to me. {snip} The proposed deal stinks. There is nothing good about it. The people who are saying the GOP should pass it to give Trump a whip-hand when (talk about putting the cart before the horse) he becomes president are morons. Other than hiring a handful of people, this does nothing to secure our border or unf**k our immigration problem. https://redstate.com/streiff/2024/01/27/the-details-of-bidens-border-security-bill-show-it-wont-work-and-thats-probably-the-plan-n2169287 https://twitter.com/BillMelugin_/status/1751061492466941958 https://www.justice.gov/d9/pages/attachments/2022/09/01/3_new_cases_and_total_completions_-_historical.pdf

WE DON’T HAVE A PRESIDENT Joe Biden is nominally our president, but he is manifestly incapable of discharging the duties of that office. Opinions vary as to who our “real” president is. Some say it is Barack Obama. Some say it is Jill Biden. Others describe a network of political influence within the Congress and the purported “Biden Administration.” But one thing we know for sure is that our chief executive is not the pitiful shell of a man known as Joe Biden, who at his best, decades ago, was dumb, and now is in la-la-land. I am sincerely sympathetic to the poor, frail shell of a man who is now Joe Biden. By rights, he should be living out his last days in a wheel chair in a nursing home. Instead, by a bizarre twist of fate, he was tapped to run against Donald Trump as the “normal” candidate in 2020, and, because Trump is so unpopular, managed to be elected president. Now, in a truly wacko “Weekend at Bernie’s” moment, the Democrats apparently are going to run him up the flagpole again. It is hard to see any of this as something other than late-stage democracy in action. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/01/we-dont-have-a-president.php

This letter was delivered to senior members of the House and Senate on Jan 17th. And yet, the Senate wants amnesty for these people. https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2024-01/Scan Jan 24%2C 2024 at 3.43 PM.pdf -

30 Hours on Biden's Open Border Spencer Brown RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS — Massive gaps in the border wall, piles of broken ladders, barely hidden smuggling routes, deadly vehicle crash sites, overwhelmed processing facilities off-limits to reporters, and nearly two dozen illegal immigrants encountered by Border Patrol. All this and more was witnessed in barely 30 hours spent embedded with a bipartisan congressional delegation at the U.S.-Mexico border to see the results of Biden's border policies first-hand. Drones flown by Mexican cartels were in the air on Friday night as I rode shotgun with National Border Patrol Council Vice President Chris Cabrera along the border wall in Hidalgo, Texas. Just a few blocks from the official port of entry where safe and legal crossings of the border can take place, we watched as 22 immigrants who illegally entered the U.S. by crossing the Rio Grande walked up to the border wall and turned themselves in to claim asylum. According to Cabrera, all 22 will be processed and released into the U.S. with initial court dates as far as six years away. https://townhall.com/columnists/spencerbrown/2024/01/23/30-hours-on-bidens-open-border-n2634010 . -
Andrew McCarthy: It Is Not Texas That’s Defying the Law — It’s Biden. FTA: This dispute will play out politically more than legally. The “Civil War” talk is hyperbole, driven by Democrats who grasp that Biden’s position is not politically sustainable, especially with Election Day just months away. This is why Biden is desperate to cut a deal with moderate Senate Republicans. When that falls apart — not because of Donald Trump’s machinations but because it is a terrible deal for the country — Biden will either have to cave (i.e., engage in actual border enforcement and refrain from interfering in state border enforcement) or seek election as the president who is suing the beleaguered people of Texas on behalf of illegal aliens — having ushered into the country more than 6 million of them (more than the population of 33 states). “When it is said that the states must comply with federal law, that means statutory law, not the whims of the executive branch. Biden’s policy is not federal law. Federal law, which the president refuses to faithfully execute, calls for detention. As I have explained before, Biden’s actions are in gross violation of the law.” https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/it-is-not-texas-thats-defying-the-law-its-biden/
