Why Moms for Liberty Frightens the Democrats by David Catron The group leads a movement that threatens the power of their teacher union paymasters. For most Americans, “Mom” evokes images of kindness, courage, sympathy and love. Likewise, “liberty” calls up concepts like individual rights, freedom of expression, equality and justice. Yet, the perversity of the current political environment is such that a parental rights group whose name combines these two words has been demonized by Democrats, the corporate media and the reactionary left. Just recently, a New Hampshire Democrat denounced the group as “#######s with casseroles,” the Hill ran a story titled, “Six reasons why Moms for Liberty is an extremist organization,” and the Southern Poverty Law Center added them to its Hate Map. Why so much animus for an organization whose goal is merely to give parents a voice in the education of their children? It certainly doesn’t reflect public opinion. An Economist/YouGov poll released in late June found that a mere 23 percent of Americans view Moms for Liberty unfavorably. The remaining 77 percent view it favorably or have no opinion about the group at all. The organization was co-founded in Florida by Tina Descovich and Tiffany Justice, who had witnessed firsthand the disregard for parental rights by school boards on issues ranging from COVID-19 restrictions to age-appropriate curricula. In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, they suggest that the education establishment sees them as a threat. {snip} It’s about how monopolies work. The public education monopoly, particularly when it extends to school boards, has no real need to satisfy its customers — the students and their parents. So, crucial skills like reading and math are neglected while the cartel pursues political goals meant to tighten its grip on the system and crush potential competitors. This is why the unions oppose charter schools. It is why Moms for Liberty and other parental rights organizations are being demonized by Democrats, the corporate media, and the reactionary left. Are Moms for Liberty and other parental rights groups a real threat to the education establishment? The attacks on them strongly suggest that the latter believes they are indeed https://spectator.org/why-moms-for-liberty-frightens-the-democrats/

The Fani Willis Scandal Is So Much Bigger Than Trump Is any public figure having a worse start to the year than Fani Willis? The once-lauded Fulton County prosecutor was billed as the savior of "democracy" not too long ago. The press were writing glowing profiles of her, supposing that her sheer girth of courage and expertise would ensure Donald Trump would never come near the White House again. She was going to put the former president in jail, avenging aggrieved Democrats and proving she was not a woman to be messed with. That was the plan, at least, and you know what they say about plans. Early in 2024, in an astonishing turn of events, it was revealed that Willis had committed adultery with an underling whom she hired with taxpayer money to help work the Trump case. Nathan Wade, the man in question, was allegedly paid higher than the market rate, raking in over $500,000. To compound the scandal, he used that money to take Willis on lavish vacations, going so far as to put expenses on his business credit card. https://redstate.com/bonchie/2024/03/03/the-fani-willis-scandal-is-so-much-bigger-than-trump-n2170876

TODAY’S “DUMP BIDEN” INSTALLMENT Just a guess, but I think the word has gone out from the Obama redoubt in Martha’s Vineyard and/or his shadow White House in Kalorama that the New York Times needs to lead the push this week to force Biden out of the race. The Times is doom-scrolling its latest poll showing Biden on his way to certain defeat to Trump. Yesterday’s installment gave the raw numbers—Biden is eroding across the board. Today the Times is out with another headline of doom, whose contents could have been part of yesterday’s story, except the Times wants to mile their poll for maximum effect. Biden’s own voters think he is too old: Widespread concerns about President Biden’s age pose a deepening threat to his re-election bid, with a majority of voters who supported him in 2020 now saying he is too old to lead the country effectively, according to a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College. The survey pointed to a fundamental shift in how voters who backed Mr. Biden four years ago have come to see him. A striking 61 percent said they thought he was “just too old” to be an effective president. . . Seventy-three percent of all registered voters said he was too old to be effective, and 45 percent expressed a belief that he could not do the job. . . This unease, which has long surfaced in polls and in quiet conversations with Democratic officials, appears to be growing as Mr. Biden moves toward formally capturing his party’s nomination. I’m guessing those “quiet conversations” will start to be less quiet fairly soon. Gavin Newsom has his phone programmed on speed dial. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/03/another-disastrous-poll-for-biden.php https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/03/us/politics/biden-age-trump-poll.html

OUTRAGE: Alejandro Mayorkas Refuses to Admit Laken Riley's Murderer Should Not Have Been in the USA On Sunday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appeared on "Face the Nation" with correspondent Margaret Brennan. During a discussion of the recent murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, Mayorkas' answers were, to say the least, evasive. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2024/03/03/outrage-alejandro-mayorkas-refuses-to-admit-laken-rileys-murderer-should-not-have-been-in-the-usa-n2170868

How Can Biden Stay In Now? Commentary, by John Podhoretz There's a scene in the peerless animated comedy Monsters Inc.—a cable-news special report featuring Dr. Frasenberger, who looks like a giant pencil. “It is my professional opinion,” he begins calmly, “that now is the time…TO PANIC!!!!!” If I were a Democrat today, or a Never Trumper, I would be Dr. Frasenberger. Because now is the time TO PANIC!!!! if you don’t want Donald Trump to be president. The release early Sunday morning of a of the presidential race showing Trump up by 5 points nationally not only confirms the undeniable evidence over the past six months that Trump has pulled into a measurable lead https://www.commentary.org/john-podhoretz/how-can-biden-stay-in-now/

TN Rep. Mark Green Reverses Course, Will Run for Re-Election After All by Jennifer Oliver O'Connell Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security and TN Rep. Mark Green's pedigree is quite impressive. Green is also Dr. Green, an emergency room physician who was also a West Point cadet and is an Army veteran, and former Tennessee State Senator. Before being elected to the United States House of Representatives in Tennessee's District 7. President Donald Trump nominated him for Army Secretary, but his confirmation was stalled. Green went on to serve in Congress, and even after District 7 was redistricted in 2022 to incorporate parts of blue Nashville, Green won re-election handily against Democrat Odessa Kelly and was expected to win again in 2024. https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2024/03/01/tn-rep-mark-green-reverses-course-will-run-for-re-election-after-all-n2170802 -
