  1. Still available for Friday, June 1 8pm show at Turning Stone. Tix are $70. http://www.turningstone.com/calendar/
  2. I agree that you can usually just ignore most deadlines but this is the first year I've gotten a call that my tix would be gone if I did not make a payment by 4/2. I'm sure that it is possible probably probable that you can put them off as long as Senator (Hillary or Schmoozer ) but you have to luck out that no one grabs them on the open stadium seat pick'n day and in this case that none of the tickets (already turned into individual game types) had been purchased.
  3. Was he wearing his new cap?
  4. Some truth in that but back in the day most govt jobs were for slugs that couldn't get one anywhere else. Pay was not up to par and SS not included. And a teaching degree was the last resort before flunking out of college. Thanks to politicians, lazy voters, greedy unions and courts that require salary be tied to the size of the cities coffers and the downsizing revolution in the real world the tide has turned. Gotta live with the choice, sure. But at smart one at the time, not so much.
  5. ONLY! $31K is probably more than the mean salary in Buffalo.
  6. And every fugger that sucks the goverment's tit at the local, state and federal level.
  7. Saw a news item about 250" in 72 being the record for Oswego. Brought back memoriies of getting around the Oswego campus in 72 (affectionately known as SUCO back then). The banks were cut like a corn maze and you needed signs at the intersections to know where you were. Of course the path to the Bridge St bars was always the first one done.
  8. [Oh, the thread is finally back on topic. ] True, and things are already moving that way. Moonves's (CBS Pres) keynote at the CEA addressed the RIAA's methodology and it's failure both monetarily and in PR. His approach is to accept the fact that your product is not secure and to go from there. CBS has partnered with Slingbox (founder was there and showed new product that is designed to let you grab a video segment and email it to a friend) and YouTube (kid who founded it talked also). CBS also has created an online community where a game is displayed online and surrounded with 6 - 10 webcams creating a virtual living room where a group can watch and talk about the game (demo was participants from last years NCAA BB final commenting on their thoughts during a replay of the last minute of the game). The idea came from Opie and Anthony's webcam community (had them there also). Don't believe you can rationaize piracy but it is a fact. The RIAA may win some battles but will lose the war.
  9. Wait I thought we were talking RIAA, not DTV. (and isn't it 800).
  10. For the past 10 years at least I have ignored the partial dates and just paid the total sometime in May. They mail you the date that you will lose the tickets but usually extend it. Keep your money and let them sweat it out a bit. The ticket office deserves it.
  11. Don't agree that she should be judged by supermodel standards when she is currently a talk show host but don't agree that those commenting have to meet the criteria they are judging her by. Following your logic only those of us that can perform as well as [insert Bill's Player bashee of the week here] should comment on their performance.
  12. Doing the big nasty with belichick.
  13. Thanks for the fix. The tiebreaker used to be the averaged MNF point total but that got wacked when you resorted by points after the week was dropped. Damn, I'll drop back again once that is done. [Hey my spell checker is working again.]
  14. Don't bother. For me Firefox crashes are becoming worse with each FF upgrade. They must know it is happening because they added an option to reload the crashed session or start a new one (a lifesaver if you never bookmarked some new pages). I don't get crashes with TDB but notice that auto refreshing sites (like http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl) seem to be the worse culprits. Also worse if the HD that supplies the VM gets below 2 GB. BTW: I lost spell checking after the upgrade. Anyone know how to turn it back on? Also the quick forum pull down menu at the bottom of the page doesn't wait for the GO button anymore.
  15. Discover Card has a deal that comes by every so often that gives you 0% interest for life. No purchases are necessary for a year and then 2 -3 monthly after. Paid off an $11K loan and put the money in a CD for the year. Still TBD if there areany major gotchas when the year is up (besides first in; first paid). Have to diligent though. They have a minimum payment with autopay from a checking account but you need to set it every month.
  16. Better buy some strong tape for Ralph's yapper.
  17. If you go to the Standings tab and click on any user name it gives you the week by week points for each of the 17 weeks. No weeks are omitted and if you sum the points they equal what is displayed.
  18. Fins stadium has some wierd kinks also. For some reason they put in walls along certain levels with no warning that there is a dead end. Got caught one year in a jam remenicient of the band scene in Animal House. Literally .
  19. Actually (to beat the dead horse one more time) if the stated preseason rules were in effect and one game was dropped you would have the same points as themadcap.
  20. Lobbying CBS may help but the NFL is the real culprit by not mandating HD coverage in it's TV contract. Both should be emailed. BTW: CBS President Moonves will be a keynote speaker at the CES next month. Bring your signs.
  21. Caught a bit of the show (anal-ysts are Eddie George, Jason Sehorn,Tim Brown and Jay Glazer). Had good things to say about Losman but noted that he would be given alot more attention if he wasn't on "that team just south of Canada". Maybe the conspiracy fanatics around here are right.
  22. No! Next year buy two season tickets and stay home. I will send you DVD's of the game and you'll help the team and end up ahead monetarily.
  23. Actually it's 15% from the seller and 10% from the buyer PLUS a $15 handling fee OR a shipping fee of $11.95 to $24.95.Link
  24. I requested an upgrade/additional tickets near my existing and was given the party line about seniority flowdown. Choose to keep mine instead of risking less desirable seats but did request to be informed if any were available in my vicinity. Was told several months later (prior to the tickets being issued) that nothing was found. During the season I found that the two seats behind me were purchased by first time buyers. I am offended that the available seats have to be coordinated by the dysfunctional ticket office staff. Why not list all available seats and let them be chosen by seniority on-line (ie week 1 all season owners with 30+ years can purchase; week 2 25+ years ...). Also have been trying to contact the owner of the 3 seats next to me for the past 3 years. The owner has never attended a game and scalps them. Would like the opportunity to purchase them to supplement mine. All I request is that the ticket office give the owner my contact info and if the owner wishes to contact me he can. I am told this can't be done because of privacy concerns. The ticket office and associated policies should be restructured to serve the fans.
  25. Per your blog all is copacetic so why not take a load off, enjoy the holidays and do it next year. BTW per the last entry in the blog the last fund drive only got you through last Sept. Time to put up another paypal link.
