Losman is the starter ...
faderphreak replied to daquixers_is_back's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rather than repost, I'll just link. My .02 Look at the stats. I know they are not completely telling but it gives something to compare to. -
I wouldn't have used the word sham because I believe had KH been able to separate himself he would have won the job. That said I like the fact that they don't appear ready to annoint JP just yet since he has not yet earned it. I did think that the move to start KH was orchestrated to get JP extra reps against some of the Carolina seconds in order to build confidence. In any case I still think JP has potential. he just needs to play to find it. If it takes orchestration to pull it off, so be it.

Seriously this crap is gettig out of hand. We are such a microcosm of the whole country right now. One side believes one thing another believes somehing else. Here is the deal. Mularkey and Donahoe F'd up big time. Period. We can debate the semantics of specifically how but that is the bottom line. The kid should have been allowed to play all last year no matter how bad he sucked. Especially after it was apparent that the defense was not the squad we all remembered. Instead, fearful of losing their own jobs, they played musical quarterbacks and we will be lucky if the kid doesn't become damaged goods as a result. Let the kid play the year. I seriously doubt that Kelly is the future of the team. He is merely a seat holder. I did watch the game cutaways on NFL network and I listened on Field Pass and it looked and sounded like while kelly was in he did not look farther than ten yards down the field. If that is all he has to bring to the table, let Losman play. If he stinks up the joint, then you take appropriate action next year. Here is an interesting statline to give you some ood for thought? Year G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate 2004 9 7 197 95 48.2 1043 5.29 58 6 9 13/8 11 4 55.4 2005 16 16 557 294 52.8 3762 6.75 78 24 17 28/184 49 8 75.9 Guess Who? Now here is our guy: Year G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate 2004 4 0 5 3 60.0 32 6.40 17 0 1 1/0 0 0 39.2 2005 9 8 228 113 49.6 1340 5.88 58 8 8 26/197 15 6 64.9 Amazing what can happen when a quarterback is allowed to develop, isn't it? Relatively speaking, looking at what J.P did last year in eight starts he is about as far along, relatively speaking. Take the ups. Take the downs. Let the kid develop. Let the kid play.

Good point. It is the greatest.

How do you reach for a safety
faderphreak replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now here is where the Bills of last year are a great hope and inspiration. Last year they came into the season high with the scent of victory in ther nostrils. With the exception of an abberation aginst the Steelers back ups they were REALLY strong. While not the same as a great young QB, they had apparantly accquired a stud running back who was even being touted as a top five fantasy pick due to his scoring potential. Mularkey was being touted as potentially the next great Bills coach after recovering from that horrendous start. We all see how that turned out... and now Mularkey is in Miami. Hopefully for us, he can be part of the same cycle again there. Unlimited potential to total frustration in just 16 games. -
I am. As a football / hockey fan i have been chomping at the bit. I don't like baseball so was watching arena, basketball playoffs, a bit. Hell I even watched some world cup... Yes I know I have a problem I went Bucs tarining camp, just because it is nearby. Watched a bit of UCF and FS spring practices. Yup football junkie. I'm even gonna go scout the Jets as they play the Bucs next week. Sad isn't it?

Thanks for the update!

I was at Bucs camp today with a couple of friends. I was suprised to find that the Bucs and Disney did not charge for parking or attendance. It was packed. We got there about 15 minutes after practice started so we were unable to find a good seat. We watched the corners and linebackers on the second field. There were no pads but the linebackers still looked quick. Barber did not seem to participate in as many drills as the younger corners. Michael Clayton had a couple of nice grabs. Ike Hilliard was very productive on short routes and had a couple nice blocks. I think their defense is going to be fun to watch this year. What happened in our camp? This time of the year I always get homesick for New York State. Maybe I can got to Miami's camp and heckle Mularkey

OT - Are there any direct flights to Orlando
faderphreak replied to Anon Y. Mous's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That was odd, anyway... generally speaking the Southwest and AirTran seem to have been the best deal when I fly in and out of Buffalo. I just flew Airtran (for the first time in five years) and had the most affordable rate. They were suprisingly better thatnd the last time I flew them. Ususally I fly Southwest. -
Marv has repeatedly said that he wants competition. As much of it as he can get, at every position. He gets Nall and says he has the opportunity to compete for the starting job. But that ois a different thread. We could go back to the glory days but frankly, it was a different era. The salary cap was not an issue. Besides, we all know the story. If you look at Price from the perspective of a GM that needs to build the franchise on a tight budget, in a struggling market, with limited ammenities to offer free agents, this all makes sense. In addition to competition, Marv wants character and guys with a chip on thier shoulder and something to prove. Price is still quick, if not the blazer he was before, but he has something to prove. He will work his ass off to compete for that spot. This can only drive the others to work harder and do better as well. If he succeeds, and I hope he will, he has an opportunity to be comback player of the year. He could be a good #3, and with a minor miracle he can be a #2. His experience can only help the others. History shows what Peerless can do if he sets his mind to something. It was no coincidence that the last time he was here, he was outstanding in the contract year. He has had a taste of getting cut during the season and that cant have left a good taste in his mouth. On the other hand, lets say he fails to make the team in training camp. The younger players learn a life lesson. They will see how quickly it can all turn around with either a little bad luck or poor work ethic. They will also be seeing a guy that ran off from a good thing after the big bucks didn't do any better. In fact, he was worse off and was struggling to stay in the league. Might make you think twice if you are a younger player, who may have an opportunity to go after the cash. It is a win win situation. Good luck Peerless!

People hate the JPL Rumor for One Reason
faderphreak replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to admit that I lurk more than I post. Probably because I am just to busy with real life more than I was when I first found this site, while living in Cohoes NY. Wow, has it really been 10yrs? Anyway, I just had to get this out. (think Lewis Black meets Dennis Leary) Without trying to rehash a lot of what has aleady been pointed out, we have spent the last decade speculating, hoping, and praying for our team to give us joy on a consistent basis. Oh sure, we have had some streaks, for like 8 games when Drew got here, and Flutie's magic, but really we have not had a consistent winner. We have had savior after savior annointed... Rob Johnson he's our man, if he can't do it, no one can... No wait. He's hurt... Doug is to good to bring Rob back, lets see how far he can take us on his back... but no.... Rob is making too much and he looked good in a meaningless game, so WTF, let the lad make a name... oh well better luck next year. At least we have two good quarterbacks, but that doesn't work. and we would all just as soon forget the 2001 season so we annoint a new savior... He's got a cannon, he's got a name, Drew is gonna take us to the big game! Nope. Never mind. He's got a cannon and a name, great guy but no game. Bring in another, let's see how he does. Lots of talent, works real hard, cocky attitude, maybe this riverboat gambler will hold the card! He has some ups, more downs, on a team run by clowns, and here we stand... again... ready to wait for yet another annointed one. Three first round picks and not even a sniff of a talent with the greatness we were spoiled by for al those years. I am sick of the F'n merry go round. Stick with the three guys we have on the roster. Let them duke it out. May the best quarterback earn the opportunity to make a name for himself with the Buffalo Bills! -

Where to see the game in Orlando?

Devaneys is where I generally go to watch the game. You can find places just about anywhere though. In what part of town will you be staying? -

Not fer nuthin, and by no means am I saying this model of the Bills is anything close to the teams of the early nineties, but I don't seem to recall the Bills winning many preseason games, when they were on the Super Bowl runs. Patience... -
Almost Silent Thread for New Orleans

I am so glad I convinced my sister-in-law and her husband to come over here yesterday. This is truly frightening when you look at the computer model predictions of what could happen. -

I know I have been more of lurker, than a poster since finding this site back in the beginning, when I went under the tag Albany Bills Guy, and then later Orlandobillz guy. I have seen it grow and grow, seen people come and go, and watched relationships forged and broken. I have been following that TO thread for a bit now, and there are good arguments on both sides with regards to how TO handles himself, how the NFL does business, how teams screw players, people messing with trolls, tempers being raised, on and on... Almost none of the issue having to do with the team most of us root for! Now to steal a line from the defunct Dennis Miller of old, I don't mean to go off on a rant here but WTF is up with peoples priorities anymore? Everything is entertainment and nothing is substance! A guy fortunate enough to be blessed with skills, and a career that pays him to work out and stay in shape, play a game, get paid for his likeness, etc. etc. etc., is on TV is bitching that he can't make enough money to feed his family. Even with his horrible contract, he is making almost as much money in the first three years, than the combined GDP of 3 small countries COMBINED, according to the CIA factbook. If the figures I have seen are right, he is making more in his base salary this year than 75 US households, COMBINED, based on the national median household income. But then people say but it is a violent game, he could be injured and lose his whole career at any second. Oh Really? How about our friends and brothers fighting in Iraq? According to CNN, 1184, of our soldiers killed, 13,769 wounded. Among those, Pat Tillman, who gave up NFL riches, to fight for what he beieved in. According to Salary.com the average entry level position in the service is 10-30k a year. Now I am going to go out on a limb and assume that with combat pay and fact that many of our elite soldiers over there are not in that entry level, that at about an average of maybe 37k a year, TO is making what 87 of the higher paid soldiers are making COMBINED, and as much as the COMBINED salary 146 specialists/corporals (E4) make at the high end of their pay scale. While I am on the subject, why is it I can find out the average income of a teacher, an athlete, or a management specialist, with a quick Google, but when I look for the average income of a soldier in Iraq, it is difficult to find the information. But that is another rant, for another time... The point is this is a game, the people we are watching are entertainers, or enterthletes, or athletainers. They should be compensated, for opening their lives to us, for keeping us distracted from our own lives, beating themselves up for our entertainment, but this is getting way out of hand... The game is rich, so athletes focus on a game, rather than academics. The guys that can't play see this and say, "hmmm, I can't play, but many who can, can't read, and those who are uneducated, can be easily manipulated." So they start to represent athetes. The owners are greedy, keeping the riches for themselves, making money off of the poor uneducated athlete. So the players and agents ask for more, the media needing to sell advertisement, sensationalize, we, the fans, rationalize and hypothesize. Another athlete decides he is not getting the attention he deserves now, and starts the whole cycle over again. In the meantime all the **** that really matters, family, friends, education, our world, our government, goes on without the attention it deserves, because we are distracted. Then again, I could be wrong. Bring on the season, I want my Bills football. This other **** is making my head hurt... F.T.O. - He represents much that is wrong right now. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbo...r/2001rank.html http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/re...lth/002484.html http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouts...onal%20Averages http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/forces/casualties/

Down here, I keep hearing Dolphin fans praying for TO to go to them. It would be fun to set the over under on days before he questioned his questioned his quarterback's sexuality, because he wasn't seeing the ball. I'd set it at 8 days... and bet the under. Of course, I don't know that AJ Feeley or Gus Ferotte have Playboy playmates duking it out over them, the way Garcia did.

Would you trade Moulds for Corey Simon?
faderphreak replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. No. No. We need stability in the recieving corps, for Losman, for starters. Also, remember what happened when "1b" shuffled off to do nothing with the Falcons, leaving a second round pick from the previous year, who had done exceptionally well, as a rookie to, be the #2 reciever? We all know how that worked out. Would you risk doing the same thing to Evans, only amplifying it because he would now be being asked to be a #1 with no one to take any pressure off of him? We know Josh Reed is not a #2 reciever and works best in the slot, when he works. We know Roscoe is probably too small, not to mention unproven, to be the number two, and is also probably best suited in the slot That would be a one sided trade. We would be solving Philly's reciever problem (Can you imagine Moulds and TO in the same offense?) and we would be taking a huge financial burden and distraction, off of their shoulders as well. Also, as some have mentioned, we have the issue of a big time free agent of our own next year in Clements, who we would probably not be able to afford if we get Simon Yeah, I am sticking with a big fat NO on that one. -
Honest Opinion about the Scrimmage
faderphreak replied to NJ_BillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I am reading, if we can tighten up the O-Line and get a bit better blocking from our TE position, the Bills will be a perrenial playoff team for his last few years. It would appear we have depth on D, and some good prospects on the O for the future. I also get the impression that Eric knows just how big a deal it would be to be part of bringing a Super Bowl Trophy to Buffalo after all we suffered in the past... Just one man's opinion. -
Just finished breaking down the tape......
faderphreak replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the break down. I did not get a chance to watch last night, though I was following the scrimmage thread. It is amazing to see the dichotomy in perspective. To read these posts or the D&C article this morning, then read the AP report, it is like everyone was watchinng two different scrimmages... I can' t wait for opening day! -
I could be wrong, it has been about 15 yrs since I last saw it on video, but wasn't there blood on the windshield after the truck came to a rest at the bottom of the ravine?

Thank you all for the updates. I am so pumped!
