  1. Could not agree more. The Packers o-line was dreadful last year. Aaron Rodgers threw for 4,434 yards and 30 TDs last year. If Clausen is there, and the they think he's a franchise QB, he MUST be the pick.

Rodgers rode the bench in Green Bay for 4 seasons. It's not like he did all that as a rookie.

  2. I guess I'm in the minority. I don't like Bulaga. He seems to be a bull in the run game, but his pass protection is suspect. I see far too many college D ends getting the edge on him and just barely missing the QB (go watch even youtube "highlight" videos), the NFL ends will take the edge. I just don't think he's a top 10 pick, and in my opinion light years away from safe.

People rave about Bulaga's ability to keep the best DE in the draft, Derrick Morgan, in check. So I'm not sure where you're getting DEs getting the edge on him. In looking at PFW Value Chart, Draft Countdown 2010 Draft Top Overall, NFL.com Draft Tracker, and ESPN/Scout's Inc. all list Bulaga in the upper echelon talent so if he's there again it seems like a no brainer to take him. Of course I'd prefer Okung but also wouldn't mind Trent Williams. As he's gotten similar grades to Bulaga but seems a tad lower which might mean a better chance at getting him at #9.

  3. Odd that only Desmond found his love, meanwhile Charlie and Daniel only have had visions/quick glances of the one's they love(d) perhaps because on the island/normal time line they are dead? *shrugs*

All and all I wasn't overly hyped about the episode. Yes it cleared some things up like that Daniel is indeed the son of Eloise and Widmore and that Penny is his half sister etc. It was nice seeing Charlie but he didn't feel like the one I enjoyed on the island. Even Desmond didn't seem his usual self either. Yes, it did have some heart felt moments but just seemed to be missing something. Perhaps it was me or maybe I'm just looking for more answers then sideways stories.

  4. The Bills had a Pro Bowl LT, and when they dealt him away (and had a revolving door of street FA's making up the line for most of the season), they finished with teh same results, another mediocre season and a top 10 pick.

But did Trent Edwards look better in 2009 or 2010?

  5. Guys,

Nix has already said you can't do it all in one year. If Clauson is there, you HAVE to take him. And not take him for 2010, you take him for the future. Build through the best players...one at a time.

Clausen isn't necessarly the best player if he's there. As most rank WR Dez Bryant a better talent then Clausen and IF all the LTs are off the board odds are Bryant would be there. So then do you take the QB or the WR? I say the WR since to me Lee Evans isn't a true #1 WR and Bryant has the chance to be a great one. Then I say take a QB later in the draft. Yet to me if all the LTs are gone and we have to chose between Bryant, Clausen and X then I say trade down and hopefully X is there where we trade down to. As let's look at the 49ers who took Crabtree last year and looks like Alex Smith might have turned things around.

  6. A fiery QB, who played in a pro style offense, while putting up staggering numbers (28 TDs/4 INTs/68% completion). This is who you take at #9 if he is available and it's not even a question in my eyes. For all of you who dislike Clausen, two questions: 1) did you actually watch him play? 2) what is the specific reason why you believe he can't get the job done?

    Clausen Fighting Off Negative Perceptions

    I posted this before but:

    63.0 QB Rating 12 TDs 20 INTs 53.8% 162.9 yards per game 26 sacks in 15 games

    59.9 QB Rating 10 TDs 19 INTs 54.6% 185.7 yards per game 24 sacks in 10 games

    61.0 QB Rating 13 TDs 20 INTs 53.3% 226.7 yards per game 20 sacks in 10 games

    70.4 QB Rating 07 TDs 08 INTs 56.1% 163.0 yards per game 12 sacks in 10 games

Those are the stats from 3 rookie QBs in 2009 (Mark Sanchez, Matt Stafford and Josh Freeman) and Trent Edwards' rookie year in 2007. Which might fall inline with what Clausen could do for us in 2010. Are they good enough to really turn around this team in 2010? Most likely not so I say get a better collection of players in the higher rounds this year see LT Bulaga (or Trent Williams) in Round 1, possibly WR Arrelious Benn in Round 2, NT Cam Thomas in Round 3, then take a QB in Round 4 as it's a lower risk and if he bombs then go after take a QB in Round 1 in 2012 when have more pieces in place.

  7. benefit how? in his last game he was 31/35 for 482 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. In 2007 he threw for over 3200 yards, 32 TDs and only 6 INTs. The next year he threw another 30 TDs and only 4 INTs. His completion percentage over his college career was 67%. They won the SEC championship, the National Championship, and almost did the same thing the next year. HOW would anyone done any better?

wrt the bold, people act like ALL he ever did was run the ball, and that is completely incorrect.

it's not like he didnt have an arm at all. he just has a weird throwing motion which he has already shown he can improve with minimal work.

Adjusting your throwing motion on a practice field and in a game setting are two completely different things. Who's to say also that this new motion won't hurt what does in game situations. Personally I see Tebow as a major reach at pick 9 and hope we stay away from until Round 4 at the earliest in the draft. I won't deny his college accomplishments as they are truely great but the laundry list of great Heisman winning QBs reproducing in the NFL is more short than long so I say pass on Tebow and hopefully land a LT like Bulaga or Williams in Round 1 and go from there.

  8. These things are just too damn long.

That's what she said but seriously I'll admit I've never read any of these until this season as I didn't want to be spoiled or enjoyed the banter on this board to learn of things I missed myself. Some of his connections are truly amazing and makes me appreciate the writers even more so. In terms of this weeks episode the only things that hadn't seen mentioned is Flocke's quote to when he mentioned about not being able to transform into smoke form and then just get off the island.

Also as UConnJames mentioned Flocke's speech to Claire was somewhat sad as sounds like he doesn't need Claire at all and doesn't care what she does to Kate after he uses her to lure, I assume Sun, Jack and Hurley, to the plane. Of course in thinking that I had a momentary flashback of Hurley apologizing to Jack to going to Locke's side even though it appears we already saw him going to Locke's side earlier. Which tells me he's truly not really looking to get his group off the island, unless he means in death.

  9. The most encouraging thing I read in thast piece was that Coach Gailey is going to tailor the system to the personel. Too many times the past decade coaches were to caught up in playing a particular scheme regardless of is it fit the personnel or not. Think Greggo with his "46" and Jauron with the "Tampa 2".

I hate to say this but last I checked our D personnel doesn't fit too well a 3-4; as except for Mitchell and the recently acquired Davis and Edwards. Poz might be able to make the transition but think he's a better fit inside then outside so Davis is just a backup as no LB on the current roster really fits in as an OLB in the 4-3. Our DEs, again except for Edwards, are again on the small side. We don't have a true 3-4 NT so I can't see how he's tailoring our D.

  10. Jacob beat Richard senseless because at that time....

he had none of his candidates on the island....

I think MIB cant be free until jacob and all of his candidates are dead

Good end point yet one has to wonder if MIB needed Sayid and Sawyer dead why wouldn't he kill them when had the chance earlier?

  11. While true, it doesn't excuse Flutie from failing to perform that duty. Much like the ST's in the Titans playoff loss the following year.

I said all that as a RJ supporter. As RJ was played pretty well that game and the game the following week against the 49ers but no one seems to remember these performances. I still think the biggest mistake we made was failing to give the starting job back to RJ in 1998.

  12. Was in a waiting room the other day and heard Green Day's "Time of Your Life" on the office-wide muzak. I know it's used a lot in finale episodes, and such (e.g. the lead-in introduction piece to the last ep of "Seinfeld"). But wow, the lyrics are 5,687 percent more tuned to "LOST" and imagery we've seen throughout:

You know, I was sitting there, thinking and got a little misty. I am going to miss this show so much it's frickin' unbelievable.

As a Green Day fan I can't say I really tie this song to LOST at all. Of course I've always felt this song was about looking back on a relationship that recently ended. Specifically it's looking back and remembering that while it was all for not that you did enjoy it in the moment and were somewhat surprised that it came to end. To me the great thing about LOST is that we all knew it was coming to an end and yes it's going to be tough when goes off the air the truth is it's all building to something whereas in Good Riddance (the actual title of the track as Time of Your Life is a subtitle) again didn't lead to anything.

  13. Well, that was awesome.

    PTR

I just wanted to make some quick notes. An almost entire episode dedicated to Richard's back story with no LOST parts was indeed awesome. I'm going to have to rewatch it to digest everything. Yet the two things that immediately hit me was I think I heard MIB tell Richard that "Jacob stole my body" and not sure what to make of it. Also watching Jacob dunking Ricardo into the ocean endless time seems to symbolize a baptism of sorts.

  14. Quite possible that Flocke was purloining details of Locke's life with a "crazy [adoptive] mother" (e.g. believing that a dog was Locke's foster sister, Jeannie) and "growing pains."

Kind of like that "thing" Claire thought was Aaron? I admit at first I didn't get that parallel. I was actually referring to Locke's birth mother having schizophrenia.

  15. Weren't they evacuated by Dr Chang before the incident because of Faraday's warning?

Yes but in the real timeline Miles and Charlotte seem to make no mention of being friendly before being put together for Widmore's project. So again how did their relationship begin if there's no going back to the island?

  16. Some things that I didn't see Uconn James cover that thought bring up. Probably obvious but sometimes they need to be said. Miles and Charlotte got off the island too. Also I can't remember if Miles mentioned if Charlotte and him were friends, the question is how they met, was it on the island and they escaped together? Also we saw the lead singer of Drive Shaft asking about James about his druggy brother. So we might be seeing good old Charlie in a few weeks.

I question Flocke's story about his "crazy mother" as is this his story or is he just stealing from Locke's memory as pretty sure John's birth mom was nuts and that's why she gave him up for adoption. Of course with so many common threads between different characters it's possible when Flocke was being truthful as he seemed pretty truthful about every thing else but he definitely does hide some things from certain people/groups as the case of Cindy and Kids "the black smoke monster killed the people at the temple".

Also Flocke mentioned to Sawyer that he's something like "the best liar I ever met" and afterward Sawyer was 100% truthful. Again Sawyer's playing both sides to do his best to get him, Kate and so long he wasn't lying Jin AND Sun of the island.

I almost did a double take as the actress James brought down in the start of the episode looked a lot like Kate. Yet think she had the line of the night when she called James, "Dimples".

  17. I'm cutting and pasting this from a theory/spoilers (no, there aren't any included here) site. Written by user, "The Graphite."

Wow. With all I know, and from my quirky observances, this is an excellent metaphor.

Indeed, let's just hope that Flocke doesn't have the 15 ball (Sawyer) in his back err side pocket. :)

  18. Wow, I thought the men were going to lose when they added the $10K onto the women's total, and from what they showed during the challenge. If the men had lost, I imagine Rod Blagojevich would have been fired for his slow service.

But I really wish they'd go back to the non-celebrity versions. The challenges have become who can get their friends to spend the most money, not who can earn the most. And all the ass kissing during the board room is ridiculous. In the non-celebrity versions, you'd have people ripping each other apart to stay in the game.

I think Rod goes to the same barber as The Donald. In terms of celebrities, I guess that term's relative as even after watching the episode I can't name half of the women on the show.

  19. Two totally different actors and characters. The principal was played by William Atherton (of Ghostbusters and Real Genius fame), while the button pusher, Kelvin Inman, was played by Clancy Brown (of The Highlander and Earth 2).

Yeah I just checked LOSTpedia, I admit was wrong. I could have sworn I saw Atherton in a prior episode of LOST. Perhaps because I remember him full beard from Biodome and inadvertently connected him to Inman. As Atherton's character in Biodome was somewhat similar to Inman.

  20. Am I the only one that recognized the principal as the guy Desmond replaced as the button pusher? All and all a pretty good episode as I've grown to think Ben is the best character on the show. As it definitely appears that sideways world is an opposite world. As this time Ben was taking care of his father and tried to keep him alive. This time he decided to not "sacrifice" Alex. Arzt being a co-conspirator for sideways Ben was funny. I was waiting for the nurse reveal though, as thought it might turn out to be Juliette.

Yet the things I took were as undonkey eluded to that if Jacob touches you afterwards one can not kill oneself. Also that Ben and his father did in fact go to the island with the DHARMA group but for yet elected to not stay on the island hopefully we'll find out why. Widmore finding the island sent a chill through my spine but elected not to interact with them was odd unless his plan is to meet up with MIB on the other island.

So MIB was choosing Ben as his protege? Is that what 6 years of staring at my TV with mouth agape boils down to? Is Jacob just as bad as MIB?

    PTR

I think MIB feeds on or perhaps should say good at bringing in people to side with him when they feel they have no where else to turn and/or are all alone because they were let down by Jacob. Remember he went after Claire when she was alone and then he tried to recruit Richard but Richard knows better then to side with him. He then went after Sawyer and Sayid after they left all alone. Ben himself was ready to side with MIB too for said reason. As Ben stated better to side with MIB than die at the hands of Illana. Yet because she redeems him, Ben sides with her sort of like why Sayid sided with MIB.

  21. Put another way: Jacob is the god of beginnings. He is The Alpha. The Man in Black? Not evil — he's the god of endings. He is the Omega. The beginning and the end.

If Jacob was the god of beginnings and protecting the island, why wouldn't he allow women to give birth on the island? Of course perhaps Jacob doesn't have control over it and that's why he had his leader Ben bring Juliette to the island to figure it out?

Sidenote: Where was Sawyer last week?

  22. Pretty cheap for the Ravens. Makes one wonder what the Cards know...

They know that Kurt Warner retired and their current QB has struggled with inconsistency so it might be time to count on Beanie Wells to carry more of the offense. I wouldn't be shocked to see them sign another RB that could compliment Beanie either like Willie Parker.
