1. You just know that Jonathan and Victoria will be in it until the end...just because they piss everyone off.  But I wish someone would just punch him in the face.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who watches this show. It deserves the Emmy's, as to me it's far and away the best reality tv show. I'm rooting for Kris and John to win it but starting to like the wrestlers more and more each week.

I watch the show every week with my father and every week he curses Jonathan and I tell him, you know he's going to go to the final 3, using the same logic you just used. It just irks him and I laugh and while I Jonathan is as big an @$$ as this show has ever seen he doesn't bother me as much as the female model who is the only a perfecet model Ugly American.

  2. According to the linked article, Blackmon's defense was horrible. I suspect Gray will be here next year but if the defense again ranks in the top 5, he could very well be a head coach in 2005.

Under Blackmon, the Falcons ranked last in the NFL in pass defense (243.9 yards), yards per play (6.1) and third-down efficiency (46.3 percent). Their run defense was the NFL's second-worst (121.4). Atlanta finished 7-9.

  3. I give you some kudos for coming up with the list but I just need to follow up some of them.

Easy choice.  Pat Williams. NO QUESTION.

There are 3 reasons for this.

    1. Jennings is a great athlete but is not as durable as PW

    2. Jennings is a solid Tackle.  Williams is a disruptive force at center. He wreaks havoc.

    3. Jennings will cost too much.  We can find cheaper alternatives through free agency and the draft.

    201170

    1. I can't argue that PW has been more durable then Jennings, but he's now over 30 how much long can we depend on PW?

    2. Are you aware that the Redskins had a better rush defense then us? Are you aware that Joe Salave'a (a former Titan) was one of their starting DTs this year is also set to be an UFA this year and three years younger then Williams? He might not be as good as Williams but could be a better economic choice because of age and familiarity with our system (since he has been coached by Gregg Williams afterall).

    3. Do I need to bring up the names John Fina, Jerry Crafts, Corey Louchey, Robert Hicks, Kris Farris and many of the other alternatives we've had at OT?

  4. I didn't know it was that bad!  I was sort of concerned but then I read an article that said Leonard Davis made the transition in the same year and is now really impressing.  He also was looked at as a bust and they even played him at G.  Now people say he's the real deal.  I think Mike's a better lineman than Davis so he should be able to make the move.

    201165

Let's not forget that Davis played LT at Texas, meanwhile BIG Mike played opposite him at RT. Even after Davis left Texas Williams remained at RT. I know some will say inpart because Chris Simms was a lefty but let's remember Major Applewhite played at the same time and was a righty. Time will tell if Williams can make the transition as Davis did. We can only hope he can.

  5. Detroit can't sign both or tag both.  I'd love to have Dominic at C and if we lose Jennings we could either swing Teague to LT or release him and switch MW to LT with McDougal coming on board.

    201146

I've said it in other threads but Teague gave up 11.5 sacks in one season as a LT in Denver which is almost as many sacks Jennings has given up for his career (13.5) in other words moving Teague to LT is a bad move. In terms of signing McDougal and shifting Williams to LT. Not a bad idea but I have serious concerns of BIG Mike at LT.

  6. The only reason I see Pat Williams winning these polls because of sentiment. As no doubt Pat Williams has enamored himself to Bills fans but I for one can not understand why people are so quick to toss Jennings aside. I know of the interview he did with an Atlanta radio station that everyone cites. I know that he has not been an ironman. I know he might command a big salary. Yet I still fail to understand why so many are willing to let go of a 27 year old LT who in 52, or if want to to count his games at LT 42, games that has only surrended 13.5 career sacks? His primary backup is due to be an UFA as well outside that we have next to no depth. To me it's illogical to want to let him go especially with all the troubles we've had on the O-line.

In comparison, Williams is over 30 and we have some depth at his position.True he's a good player and been a workhorse but I just can not understand why people feel it's better to keep him over Jennings if they use their heads instead of their hearts.

  7. You can't trade Brees right now.  San Diego has been awful for 10 years, and then they finally have a good season and have a 25 year old QB that played at a Pro Bowl level, and you're going to trade him and start all over again?

    200382

Just to play the :D 's advocate, as my feelings on this subject were previously mentioned but tell that to the Cinncinati Bengals, granted Kitna was 31 last year and not 25.

  8. The question is will either be healthy enough.  Rarely are players the same the first season back from knee surgery.  I wouldn't bank my offense on TWO gimpy TEs and Ryan Nuefeld.

    200483

If looking for a one year solution then sign someone like Itula Mili or Cam Cleeland to a one year deal to hold down the fort but won't kill you from a cap perspective.

  9. I think it be wise to sign a veteran OG to at least compete for the starting LG spot. Yet at the same time think drafting someone early is wise too since Chris V is over 30 and don't see any long time answers on the roster.

In terms of TE, I think Campbell and Euhus, if healthy, are a good one two punch. I know many have called for big names like Franks and Jones but I don't see the Bills using big money at TE. I know Donahoe said he was going to address the position in a Buff News article, I think this could mean just bringing in a veteran to "compete" for a roster spot. I saw that Dave Moore is expected to be an UFA and could be a short term answer if we need Campbell or Euhus to recoop. I could also see us trying to land a guy like Cushing of the Steelers, who coud come in and give us 3rd string blocking TE which we currently lack.

  10. Indianapolis had better win the Super Bowl this year or next year.  I just cannot see them keeping all of their talent around.  James, Freeney and Wayne are all going to want big dollars.  I know Polian said he is committed to keeping James, but if he does, how do you keep Freeney and Wayne as well?  I think Freeney will make huge money if/when he becomes a free agent.  I'm not sure when that is though.

    200345

Freeney's contract expires after the 2008 season, though if I'm an agent I renogiate that rookie contract after 2006. He could try and make a stink this offseason as he's due to make 600k next season but in 2006 his base goes up to $5 million, but then steadies off his last two seasons with about $1 million in 2007 and $1.2 million in 2008. Wayne's contract is up after next season and fully expect him to shop his wares.

  11. I thought that was the plan. But it turns out Big Mike always was a right tackle anyway... albeit in front of a lefty qb.

but then we did have RJ when we drafted him right?? or am i getting forgetful?

    200258

I would hope in drafting Williams so high, the team had hoped he would be the LT and Jennings would be the RT. BIG Mike never played with RJ. Though by years' end of RJ's final year here (2001) Jennings was our starting RT. He only shifted to LT because we drafted Williams. If we lose Jennings, alll we can hope is that Williams can make the transition to LT like Leonard Davis finally did or that we can find a short term solution (maybe Bob Whitfield) for a year or two until we finally find a replacement for Will Wolford.

  12. I think the Chargers should trade a 1st rounder for future picks...maybe a 2nd next year, a 2nd this year etc..and stockpile for cheaper contracts....New England did that a lot recently correct?

    200181

You're thinking of when the Ravens traded for New England's first round (19th overall) pick in 2003 (to grab Kyle Boller). The Patriots ended up with the Ravens' 2003 second-round choice (41st overall) and the Ravens’ 2004 first round choice (Vince Wilfork). Of note the New England later dealt the 41st (Ben Joppru) overall pick along with the 75th overall (Seth Wand) choice to Houston for the 36th overall pick in 2003 (Eugene Wilson).

In terms of the Brees vs Rivers debate, I say stick with Brees because he is a known product and both QBs are young enough that you can build around either one. Though I don't see either one being an "elite" QB like Peyton Manning (who still needs to show more then a QB that can lead his team out of the 1st Round of the playoffs), Brett Favre, John Elway etc.

  13. ken lucas is the cb for seattle i think he played college at miss. state.

    199002

Actually he went to Ole Miss and he's due to be an UFA after this season. The contract he signs could be a good indication as to what Nate is worth, of course Nate has 7 career more INTs (18 vs 11). Lucas was a guy I thought the Bills might have drafted if they went for an O-lineman in the first round in 2001. Instead we traded down, and took Clements in the 1st.

  14. Based on what little I have seen of JP. He definately has the great skill set that made him a first round pick yet he has also shown to be as green as his college helmet (bad metaphore I know). He's going to take some time to develop. Like most inexperienced QBs he needs to learn to stay in the pocket and look to make a play with his arm instead of his legs. As all too often in the preseason (and parts of the regular season) he'd leave the pocket and start going upfield. While many predraft publications likened him to Brett Favre, I think TSN's comparison to Jake Plummer a better one based on what have seen so far. Maybe after developing he'll become another Favre but he's far from that right now.

  15. Holcomb is a journeyman QB who might do well along the lines of Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox for one season but of course both Stewart and Maddox were high draft picks whereas Holcomb was never drafted in the NFL. Say what you will but I always feel that talent should always come to the top. That said one thing I like in looking at Holcome is his completion percentage. Two things is he's never been a full time NFL starter and has thrown more INTs then TDs for his career. So he might be a step above Shane Matthews but there are questions how much better he is then Bledsoe. I've heard that Bledsoe is expected to count about $6 mil against the cap next year if we keep him and if cut would cost $4 mil against the cap, the question is could Holcomb be signed for less then $2 mil a season?

  16. The 2000 draft remains a primary reason this team has struggled to make the playoffs the last four seasons. I feel the single biggest error was selecting Erik Flowers instead of Darren Howard. As Erik Flowers has 5.0 career sacks and Howard has 41.0. I did a mock draft on the old D&C board and Howard was my pick at the time with some hesitation because of his work ethic. The truth is Flowers was deemed by most draftniks as a 3rd Round pick but because he was able to add some weight prior to the combine and keep his 4.66 speed that's why I think we ultimately took him instead of Howard even though by most he ranked lower.

    Sorry but dont see it..too cutsie,,need a headstrong but sexy type...Evangeline Lilly,from Lost,,would be perfect..IMHO... B-)

Also Kevin Spacy is going to be LEX Luthur...Cant see him as bald

    198530

According to this Lily dropped out of the running due to Lost. Bosworth is a poor choice due to being a blonde, Katie Holmes might have been a better pick.

  18. Thanks, Coach...

I didn't know that about him, the review I found, pretty much said that he was the anchor of a line that have given about 38 sacks in the past two years, I thought he was a good one!

    Later,

    Pat

According to Stats Inc profile Raiola is only credited to allowing .75 sacks over the past two years and 2.50 total over the past four years. In comparison Trey Teague has given up 5.50 over the past three seasons (with 5 coming in 2002, .50 in 2003 and 0 this past season). While sacks are not the only stat to measure an O-lineman on Teague does offer better size at 6-5 300 vs Raiola's 6-1 295. Also of note as a LT with Denver Teague gave up 11.25 sacks, which should end any thoughts of signing Raiola and shifting Teague to LT. Although thoughts of moving Teague to LG and bringing in Raiola to man the middle might be considered however I'm not one for shifting lineman.

  19. Unless you some kind of uber-dork (I'm not) you probably don't have a clue what WoW is.  I was wondering if there were any others (not that I'm one of them) out there?

If you are and you're willing to admit it.......

    I'm sooooo embarassed.  :D

    198003

Are you referring to an Opie and Anthony WoW? :D

  20. Phil Simms wasn't half the quarterback Kelly was.

I don't recall Simms ever taking over a game himself.

Giants won with Defense and smash mouth offense, not Simm's arm.

    196379

Apparently you missed Super Bowl XXI, Simms had one of the best performances ever by a QB. 22/25 268 3 TDs 0 INTs and toss in 25 yards on 3 carries.

While I don't think Simmis is a HOFer and feel Kelly was a better QB; I have questions about Kelly being in the HOF.

  21. Not bad for a guy the brain trust thought was finished four years ago. I would take a shot at him as a free agent pick up in a minute.

    197969

They didn't think he was finished, he was hurt in the second to last preseason game and was expected to miss some of the early schedule. The team wanted to place him on IR in order to keep him for the season after. Christie didn't want to miss the entire season so decided to reach an injury settlement and let himself shop his wares when he was available. In retrospect the biggest mistake was not letting him go but not keeping his second replacement, (Shayne Graham) now with Cinncinatti and one of the most accurate kickers in the entire league.

Another note, Martin Gramatica might also be available as doubt he'd want to stuck with the Colts as a kick off specialist after this season as am sure some team (including us) might want to bring him into camp to compete for the regular kicking job.
