but you put a big hole at your WR1 position and a using $32 million against the cap this year for a 2nd round pick in next year's draft.
-
The only issue is his going to a new team, a new offense, a new QB, new guys to compete with for targets. Ideally he comes in and is the alpha dog he's been most of his career and has another top 5 season to allow him to find a bigger deal or sign wherever he wants next year. Yet what happens if the pasture isn't green on this side or he gets hurt? He's betting on himself which I'd say usually a good thing based on his history yet way his season ended last season and all new things coming up in 2024 he might end up making a mistake. As the saying goes, only time will tell.

Draft Joe Milton QB from Tennessee in 5th (or 6th) round?
The Jokeman replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we filled other needs first I'm all for it as never a bad idea for long term insurance or he can develop him and trade him for more than took to draft him. -
Does Beane have a trade with Schoen Lined Up???

Cuz the top 3 QBs could be gone and after them there's a bunch of ??? -

Toss in the Giants need a QB, if Jayden Daniels falls to 3 I could see them trading with the Patriots or stay put and reach for JJ McCarthy. -
Could be a Darryl Williams type signing. Yet going to be hard to break into our starting 5 if ask me.

How would you construct the 2024 Bills WR Room?
The Jokeman replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trade our 2nd this year and Minnesota's 2nd next year for Ayuik. Draft the best DL in Round 1. Draft a Safety in Round 3. In Round 4 look for a WR am sure someone good may fall yet not sure who so I take Cornelius Johnson, as he has been a target of mine since the draft season started. WR1 Ayuik WR2/RB3 Samuel WR3 Shakir WR4 Johnson WR5 Hollins WR6/KR/PR KJ Hamler PS Shorter UDFA Troy Omeire Tyrell Shavers -
FSU RB Trey Benson To Visit Bills
The Jokeman replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's likely the first RB off the board, that said I don't want the Bills to take him as happy with Cook as a #1 and adding a mid to late RB2 with size. Isaiah Davis is one of my late favorites. -
So You Need to Move Diggs..Why the Texans??
The Jokeman replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Moreso if Jerry Hughes re-signs with them. -
Higgins does offer some size which we lack at the position, he might be a WR2 but if we end up signing him 4-5 years we can maybe draft a guy in the mid rounds to see if he develops into a WR1 or move him to WR2 if needed and make HIggins earn his check as a WR1. Yet I agree Ayiuk a better all around option but ultimately the draft best option long term.

I guess we'll have to wait til June or maybe convince the Bengals to unfranchise Higgins, sign him to a one year deal on the cheap and then trade him to us.
-
The Giants could also use some help at TE if Waller retires which been rumored. I'm not saying we could get Knox and #28 for #6 but it's an interesting thought. Personally I wouldn't make the trade.

How would you construct the 2024 Bills WR Room?
The Jokeman replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let the draft playout, I'd prefer to keep most of our picks or if trade up do so in later rounds vs early because we need more than just a WR to come out of this draft. I'd also like a possible Edge rusher, a DT and a Safety and maybe not this order. Then after June 1st when we get our Tre White money back see if any veterans are available for a picks in 2025 (see Higgins or Ayiuk). The top 2 WRs taken in the 2023 draft were Quinton Johnston and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, guess what? they got out performed by guys taken after them in Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers, aka just because you draft a guy earlier doesn't necessarily make them better. Toss in think it safe to assume that Aiyuk would likely out perform a rookie. -
Last player to leave in any way that hurt?
The Jokeman replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not left, got cut. Gilmore won a Super Bowl with the Patriots and won AP CB of the year if I'm not mistaken. -

Peters hurt as was all about money and our owner was too cheap to pay him the going rate for an above average LT. -
You're happy we lost Diggs and a 6th this year to move up to the 2nd next year from the 5th? I get we had to purge salary but feels like too much to me.

Toss in there were mumbles that Stef asked about living in Houston, sounds like he gave us a short list of teams he'd go to and we abliged.
-
Another upside is we don't have to hear his brother wants Stef out of Buffalo.
-
Quick typing and not editing is my fault for the extra s lol

I think Aiyuk cost at least two 2nd Rounders if not more, toss in the new contract he will likely want once moved here.
-
Aiyuk be ideal but then gotta give him a new contract which not in cards for at least this year.
-
I'm not happy with this move either but honestly I can't believe Beane would just make this move without something up his sleeve as I can't imagine his plan is to go into this season with what have now. Granted I'm not a fan of trading up to get a better WR prospect as no guarantee a rookie going to step in as a WR1 no matter who he is.
