Every Josh Allen TD pass in 2016/2017
davspo replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. I have noticed that if you can give him 3 seconds in the pocket, he could pick you apart. In this and other films he appears to bail on the pocket too quick, but hey what do I know. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. -
Why the Allen project may be different
davspo replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As hard as it is going to be to watch, (especially if Mccarron does not do well), the best thing to do is let him sit, watch and learn until at least next year. -

I watched the films and have some concerns. I think he has a ton of talent but he seems to bail out of the "pocket" (quotes because the line sucked) too quickly. If he has time he seems to be able to plant his feet and throw strikes. He does seem to rely on his arm strength and force passes from time to time. I do love his ability to shack tackles and take off. All in all, he has the skill, but I'm not sold that you could make an honest assessment of the guy on films I have seen. I do think riding the pine for a year would be a good thing for his development. I would love to have a more solid o line before this guy gets thrown to the wolves. Lots to admire and lots to be concerned about. I am banking on the guys who will lose their jobs. I am sure they did there homework.

I still don't know where this is going. I can say that 32 teams had him ranked as 1st round talent, most had him in the top 10, so they may know a bit more than we do. Just guessing.

Beane just said guy was falling that he wanted

Chark. My guess is Tre White was lobbing pretty hard for the guy. -
I too was initially unhappy with the Allen pick. Admittedly, like most on this board I have not seen Allen play in live action. I saw some clips here and there. After he was drafted I went back and looked again, and spent more time finding other clips. I can tell you this, the guy reminds me a lot of Rothlesberger. He was much more mobile than I expected and always keeps his eyes down field. One thing I can say for sure is that the era of passing for 4 yards on 3rd and 10 is over with this guy. I also went back and looked at a bunch of mock drafts. A couple things stood out. First, almost all were wrong by the 3rd pick. Half that were projected first rounders were not chosen. It was even more clear to me that mock drafts are pure entertainment with a sprinkle of fantasy. Second and most striking were that the vast majority of mock drafts had Allen going number 1 overall to the Browns. For example, CBS Sports "Mock Central" had 4 of 6 reports with Allen going number 1 overall. The remaining 2 had Darnold going first. Clearly, there were many teams who loved Allen. It seems clear that Arizona was going jump us and grab Allen if we did not. So, while everyone is freaking out, I urge them to go back and look at the tape. I would be interesting to know if that would change people's minds. I also would love to know if all the upset fans actually saw this kid play an actual game. I know I didn't. All in all, this administration solidified the defense. I truly think this will be a top 7 defense, and they got younger. This defense will keep this team in a lot of games, baring injury. The selection of Edmunds I think will be spectacular. Again, looking at the mock drafts, I did not see one that had him being selected anything below 12. The speedy inside linebacker is a staple in the McDermott scheme. After what he did last year, breaking the playoff drought when just about everyone had them winning 6 or less games earned him the right to get the benefit of our doubt. I do have grave concerns about the offense. Not because we lost Tyrod Taylor ( I think with McCaron or Peterman (insert wise comment)) are better than Taylor. Taylor just refused to throw the ball. My concerns are with the offensive line, and lack of play making receivers. This will be addressed next year I'm sure. It's nice that we have a full compliment of draft picks on the shelf that we did not need to give up. It's also nice to know that we will have the 3rd largest amount of cap space to fill some needs. All in all, cut this administration some slack. First, they earned it. Second, they have a clear plan and are executing it. This is more than I can say for any other administration over the last two decades. p.s., if Allen hits, fasten your seat belts. It will be a good ride.

Pancho Billa calls out the 3rd round pick.

Awesome moment- Fred and Andre are special people who gave up their moment for a total stranger- 3 very special people - #billsmafia -
Ok, I have had a chance to calm down. Admittedly, I did not study Allen much. I didn't see him as a potential Bills pick. I thought that Rosen was their guy from day one. I have watch some video and read a bit more about him and a few things stick out: 1. He is surprisingly mobile 2. He has been running for his life for the last 2 years behind the Wyoming O line, so that should serve him well with the current state of the Bills O line. 3. He is huge 4. He is creative, when the play breaks down, and most of them do, he guides traffic 5. We will no longer see an 8 yard pass on 3rd and 10. This guy never saw a downfield pass he didn't like. 6. He does remind me of Big Ben in his ability to keep plays alive. 7. He couldn't be more opposite than Tyrod Taylor At this point, I will give Beane the benefit of the doubt.

Let all three of them duke it out in preseason. Should be fun to watch. Hopefully one of the three will pan out.

On Draft NIght, My Better Half...
davspo replied to Golden Goat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I woke up at 2 am to wish my wife a happy draft day! -
After way too much thought and consideration, I have decided that I trust Beane more than any previous GM over the last 20 years- really since Bill Polian. We all think we know who the best qb is based on our part time analysis over the last 3 months, when in reality we know very little. I would be ok with any pick Beane makes, even if he waits to the second or third round. I believe there will be at least one really good qb who comes out of the second waive (Falk, Lueletta (sp), Rudolph, White, Ferguson). There will also be failures in the top 5 that will set franchises back for years. While waiting is not my first preference and I believe, after many years of waiting it't time to take a real risk, I will defer to the staff that spend thousands of man hours analyzing the prospects. I also believe that any of the second tier guys would be first rounders in many other years and the qb draft hype is just that hype. At the end of the day, the Bills will have three unknowns competing for the starting job. Hopefully one will pan out. History has taught us that this is the most inexact science.

Really doesn't matter who the Browns take they will suck. With that being said, I heard that he was a ISIS plant.

Bills' 2018 Regular Season Schedule
davspo replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All in all doesn't look awful- if they can somehow go 2-2 out of the gate playoffs don't look out of reach -
Figuring out trade scenarios is like trying to guess the average phone number.
-
I was worried about the OL before this. Now that concern is only greater. I guess in the scheme of things we get younger. I guess we will have to wait and see how this play out. The lack of wide receivers is also concerning. I could see this offense being worse than last year which is saying a lot.
-
Who cares who the Patriots want. I'm much more concerned with who the Bills want.
-
Seriously? This is the best GM we have has since Polian. Be patient. There is no way they traded up to 12 without knowing there would be someone there they wanted at 12. I'm sure there are plans and contingency plans. Look at the history of the draft. Everyone thinks if they draft "the best" quarterback, at 1 or 2 that he will be a savior. This is not the case. I would be interested to know how many Rosen or nothing, or Allen or nothing, or Darnold or nothing people have actually seen them play more than on game or more than a highlight video. Everyone needs to just relax. My guess is that history will show the best quarterback in this draft may not even be a first round selection.
