  1. What I was getting at is since he had fewer coverage snaps it inflates those snaps as the teams who are passing well probably aren't that good. It's not like he shut down Brown but rather the Steelers used Bell to smash the Bills thus instead of his usual 15 attempts to Brown he only got 5. Meanwhile Gilmore performed poorly in taking down Bell..(as did everyone else) thus how everyone here is stating he is a poor tackler.. using a player I see all the time, Butler, he is a dang good cover corner but he also lays the wood down on RB as well so does Logan Ryan (who is not that good lol)
  2. Reading the posts I just have ONE big question. Could his numbers look so good because teams just didn't pass that much on the Bills? I do know they were ranked 30th against the run but 6th against the pass, which makes me think people pretty much BULLIED Rex's bullies.
  3. Sherman >>>>>>>> Gilmore and it isn't even close. I take Sherman everyday and twice on Sunday before Gilmore and that isn't saying Gilmore sucks.
  4. I would say the sample size is to small to draw a fair conclusion one way or the other on Gilmore. It does beg the question why they only did it twice though.
  5. I think Prince will come cheaper and he is a decent tackler as well. I was pretty much trying keep the O intact and rebuild the D as much as possible, as that was the biggest glaring need IMO. Then I must of been a bigger idiot than I thought. Can't you let a man have his bad auto correct!? Lo
  6. I must have either seen the wrong number or went down a line when reading lol. So make it $34 million.. and I was keeping TT My bad I forgot put the ' in and it auto corrected..
  7. You have 23 million cap space, who do you go after in FA and who do you resign of your own FA? Also who is your #10 overall pick. If I was GM I would try keep Woods as I believe the O is in good shape with weapons and I don't want have to use a draft pick on another WR. I would let Gilmore walk and I would try sign Prince Amukamara to a 2 year deal. He has potential and probably be cheaper than Gilmore. I would also target Claiborne from Dallas. In the draft I would grab Jonathan Allen if he fell to the Bills or if he wasn't available try trade down to the mid teens and get Malik McDowell from Michigan State. In the second I get a QB like Pat Mahoney from Texas tech.
  8. I got physically ill for you Buffalo fans when I saw Jay "I suck more than any Vacuum cleaner" Cutler was going be your QB. That will guarantee a 4-12 season.
  9. You put your playmakers with a Breese,Brady,Big Ben etc and I will say Watkins has a career year and McCoy has over 2k all purpose yards.. the bills have two very very good weapons that are under utilized IMO.
  10. Except this year you went 1-1, but failed win any other games in the division. I mean the Bills were the 40% of the Jets win total. Then add in 2 heartbreaking losses to Miami (by total of 6 points) and you would go from 7-9 to 10-6 (just winning 3 out of 4)
  11. I actually don't think it will be close between the Texans and Houston. In Mexico City the Raiders Baotou bet the Texans 27-20 WITH Carr and Osweiler both starting. This game Osweiler is starting and a 3rd round rookie for the Raiders and it is in Houston.
  12. The Bills D was average, the Bills O was Average. Bills record (if you didn't tank the last game.) was average. Oakland had a terrible D and a stellar O and are in the playoffs. Bills need to excel on one side of the ball or the other. IMO they are closer to doing that on O than D right now. Great RB check! Great/good WR Check, decent O line check... QB ????? (I ain't touching that one with a ten foot pool)
  13. Penalties is DEF something a coach can clean up! You are also right I know in 2015 the Bills were the WORST team in the NFL in that category and I think they were in the bottom 1/3rd this year.
  14. Great post! my main point was that the Bills are not that far away from being a playoff team. IMO hire the right coach and the Bills could easily be a 10 win team next year as I think a lot of the Os issues ARE scheme. Could I be wrong? Hell ya! I'm a fan of football but hardly an expert and I am just going by a small sample size as well (I only got to see 6 Bills games i think) I also felt there was not enough plays get the ball into your #1 threats hands in the open field. McCoy we all KNOW is an excellent receiver as well but I didn't see a lot of bubble screens or quick passes to him. Hell I can't remember if I ever saw him spread out wide try get a LB on him.
  15. NFC South: Saints/ Falcons --- 2 top O in the NFL. Tampa Bay -- on the cusp being a Playoff team, also has a decent D Panthers -- had a terrible year. No idea why on O. AFC South Titans -- like the Bucs on the cusp of the playoffs, have a decent O and decent D Texans - suck on O and have a top ranked D Colts - have Luck and a good O and a below average D Jags -- are they truly any worse than the Jets who the AFCE teams beat up on twice? They also faces KC,Denver, SD twice which is harder than any team in the east minus NE.
  16. lol I don't think people are getting it. Oakland went 12-4 with a pretty bad D, worse than Buffalo. They also played in a much TOUGHER division as far as D go. (KC, Denver) The Raiders with the 26 TH RANKED D were one win away from having a first round bye!!! (That they would have gotten with Carr IMO) So while D will win championships, it is not needed to make the playoffs or even be a top seed. The ONLY stat that Oakland was lightyears better than Buffalo was one. PASSING O. I stand by the assessment an improvement to 20th (just 10 spots higher) would make a HUGE difference in wins and losses. Also I am not bashing TT, another stat I have seen here (but can't find) is that Buffalo called for fewer passing plays than any other team. So an easy fix for the passing O is to call more passing Plays??
  17. Yes and what was the big difference? That's right them sweeping the Bills and Ajayi running for almost 500 yards in 2 games. BUT Tannahill and Moore also hit key Passing plays to beat the bills. Something the Bills were unable to do. Also Miami sucked the first 5 games. Since week 6 they are 9-2 and averaging 25 points a game and giving up 24 points a game. The only reason those numbers are close is because the two losses were blowout losses of 38 and 21 points.
  18. Miami had the weakest schedule in the NFL is how they won 10 games. (Funny thing is if the Bills could have stopped Ajayi even a little bit the Bills would have had 10 wins and would be facing Pitt this Sunday. That's how close the Bills got. 2 losses by less than 10 points combined..) Also look at the stats Oaklands D was WORSE in every one but Rishing D.. that includes scoring D.
  19. My point was if the bills wanted a CHANCE catch the lightning in a bottle they need improve just 10 spots on passing O to have that chance. Let's face it this year a middle of the road passing game makes the Bills a playoff team.
  20. This kind of shocked me these are the stats for Oakland &a Bills D: overall oak 26th Bills 19th scoring D oak 20th Bills 16th Passing D Oak 24th Bills 6th Running D Oak 23rd Bills 29th Offense: Overall: Oakland 6th. Bills: 16th Scoring: Oakland 7th. Bills: 10th Passing: Oakland 13th Bills: 30th Rushing: Oakland 6th Bills: 1st Now this showed me a few startling things. One is you don't need a dominant D to win in the AFC as the Raiders were one win away from having a first round bye. Second you do need to be above average in all areas in at least one side of the ball. Look at Oakland they are just a little above average in passing but have a dominant run game. If (IMO) the Bills want to be a playoff team they MUST improve their passing ranking to average (16th-20th) and they will be a playoff team. I mean that is the ONLY stat that Oakland is significantly ahead of the Bills. (Besides overall O but up the passer rating that goes up to.)
  21. Ya because the Pats had FRANCHISE QBs since 1986. Tony Eason, Hugh Millen (I just got ill), Grogan, Zo, then Bledsoe and Brady... ya a list of CHAMPIONS there!! 🙄 And sorry I loved Flutie he is part of what drew me into watching football when he played at BC. So I may be a little protective of his rep.
  22. So you hate him because even though he screwed up he found a way to still win the game? i think everyone in this forum give almost anything for a QB who could do that now. You know find a way to win the game....
  23. I love Flutie, I was a teenager when he threw that Hail Mary against Miami for the win. He had that "it" factor for winning. (College,CFL, and somewhat even in the NFL). That said Flutie isn't the type wish Ill on the Bills, after all that's when Flutie flakes took off lol..
  24. Ok I agree a SB contender needs a QB who can throw the football, but that was not the Bills biggest issue on this years team. I mean Watkins and McCoy both said discipline on the team was (to paraphrase) Awful! That showed as the Bills for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW were among the top 10 in most penalties. The Bills are not good enough to overcome badly timed penalties. that is also something a new coach could correct rather quickly while building the D back up, the Bills need to stop beating themselves.
