  1. Give it another week or so. I think part of my frustration, personally, is that I want to read some good news. It has been said that no news is good news. In this case, not so much. I want them to sign some people. Give us some reason to believe.
  2. Waiting for the sharks to leave the pool. Then they will enter and sign a few people.
  3. If Smith is there at 8, take him. If not, try to trade down. Barkley scares me, reminds me of that USC guy we passed on a few years ago to take Whitner, whatsisname. Not a big enough arm, the beneficiary of playing for USC loaded with talent. I heard Mortensen on the radio this morning telling the guys that he thought Nassib might go in the first to Buffalo. To me, that would be a mistake. Take a stud defenseman in the first, get your quarterback in the second or 3rd round.
  4. Amendola is a stud. He had 12 catches in a half against Seattle or San Fran this year. He got hurt making an amazing catch down the sideline, got planted on his shoulder. He also returns punts. I don't know why they let him go here in St. Louis. He will piss us off, that is for certain. Unless we can bring the heat on Brady and mess his rhythm.
  5. I'm sitting in my office, located in Ballwin Missouri. Home town of Tim Dolan. The suspense is killing us.
  6. He signed about 5 minutes into Free Agency. The deal was done. Butty knew he wasn't going to be able to hit Andy's number. Maybe that's why he drafted Zebrie Sanders. Don't forget that guy. A few years ago the Giants went to the Super Bowl with Glenn Parker and Dusty Ziegler on their line....castoffs by the Bills. It is the scheme, not the talent, that makes the line click. Well, clarify that. You have to be an NFL Calibre player to be on the line, but if coached up, the line will be a success. Levitre was a very good player for us. We'll miss him. He could blow out a knee the first day of practice. Like Damien Woody when he got to Cleveland. Stuff happens.
  7. He was only set to make a couple million. Wonder why they cut him? We could use a hitter out there, though. I hope Butty is looking at this guy.
  8. Man, news travels fast. I googled Lawson and he is a Buffalo Bill. On Wikipedia they go thru his measurables for the draft. He ran a 4.43 forty. That is rippin' fast. Holy jumpin. He's 6'5" Scored a 43 on the Wonderlic. Keep in mind that Vince Young scored a 4 or something.
  9. I am glad they are doing something. I had not read of any visits. This is a good one. We need linebackers.
  10. People talk about this team not being very good, and they're right. We were a couple idiotic plays from being 9-7 last year. Had we accomplished that we would still have Chan, and probably Fitz. And we'd be picking 18th or so. With the same group of guys. The defense was horrible last year. That was addressed by hiring a new coach and a bona fide DC. We had no real Number One Wide Receiver last year, and we can address that by signing or drafting somebody. I don't think there is a giant difference in talent between an 8 million dollar guard and somebody like Rinehart. Remember when the Giants went to the Super Bowl with two guys we cut? Parker and Zeigler. It's all about the schemes and having decent talent. And good play-calling. We'll miss Levitre, but if they use that dough on a difference-maker, I'm okay with that. Fitz was mediocre. He's gone. We've still got mediocrity at QB, but with a better athlete. We'll find somebody. I just want to hear/read that they are bringing in somebody to fill some position. What happened to all those Jets looking for work? Maybe we should bring back Winfield. Blah blah. Sorry. just had to get some thoughts down here. Out for now. Go Bills.
  11. He stood tall with the rest of the Ravens as they united to win a championship. I don't know that translates into anything except what it is. I never heard of him till about a week ago, and the Fins were already hard to run against. Who cares?
  12. Ellerbe to Dolphins? Is that true? Holy schneike.
  13. I think it was a mistake, but I'm gonna wait a couple days to see what they do next. So far, all we've done is get rid of two starters today. We got rid of a few more over the past few weeks. We were 6-10. Are we really gonna be hurt too badly by this? Depends on what we do from here. I hope they have more of a plan than we heard on the phone today.
  14. Not worth handing the guy 3 million in cash. That is a lot of cash to give a guy. Nothing to do with cap hit. It's all about the cash.
  15. Total violation of privacy. These guys have their own way of talking with each other, and it's not for public consumption. Players know that the GM's talk about them like chattel, but nobody wants to actually hear it. It's like Leno hiding in the closet. Be careful what you wish for.
  16. Somebody on the coaching staff will instruct him to put his hands up and try to knock down some passes. He's usually right on the receiver, but he forgets that he has those tools attached to his shoulders. He was a first round pick with obvious skills. Besides, everybody on the planet knows the key to pass coverage starts with pressure on the QB. Pettine will take care of this, and McKelvin will be fine. I also believe this will motivate Aaron Williams to become a better player. He has skills too! And Ron Brooks. We just need one more safety. Landry.
  17. Doesn't sound like many of us have faith in the guy. Sign him at once.
  18. Random thoughts while reading all these interesting posts: I'm wondering if Zebrie Sanders might have been drafted with the idea of replacing Levitre. I'm wondering if Troupe will get healthy and become a player. We need linebackers. I think that Nigel Bradham has a lot of raw talent, and he hits like a freight train. Kelvin Sheppard, your time is now. Obviously they see Scott as part of the plan. Who else is going to chip in? I'm wondering if different coaching might improve Aaron Williams. At the time he was drafted, this was thought of as a good pick. He has skills. Perhaps a good pass rush will have an impact on the coverage squad. Good that Kelsay hung them up. His ability to inspire did not do much to help that defense last year. Worst defense ever, all things considered. Pettine will definitely help. If they do not resign Levitre, I hope they have some big plans to make use of the money they are saving. If they cut Fitz, which I think is all but done, and don't sign Levitre, they will have a lot of dough to spend. Let's hope they spend it wisely. I should note that we totally gave away 3 games last year, or we may have finished 9-7, just out of the playoffs, and we would still have Chan Gailey as coach. Think about that.
  19. I think the reason we've let so many guys go (especially the receivers) is the new regime does not want those players. Marrone has an idea how to build a winner, and he's going to get rid of players who don't fit his scheme. The only reason we felt attachment to those players recently cut is that they were Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick had to throw to somebody, and those guys happened to be the ones in front of him. Speaking of Fitz, I believe he will be gone before his $3m cash bonus hits next week. Why hand a guy that pile of cash if he isn't your long term solution? Unless he tears up his deal and agrees to stay on the cheap, he's gone. I hope they sign Levitre, but apparently the new coach must not love him or it would already be done. If you're gonna hire a new coach, you have to give him major input into the construction (or deconstruction) of his team.
  20. He had great pre-season stats last year. He was an excellent college qb. He is a winner. He'll never start in New Orleans. Maybe he'd be a good hire to compete.
  21. Geno's got the gun. And he's fast. Better athlete. He's the only one who is worth taking in the first.
  22. Cassell was 11-5 without Brady. I think Alex van Pelt would've won 12 with that team. But I see your point.
  23. Cassell was another of the New England flops. Crennell, Pioli, Cassell, Weiss, McDaniel, et. al. The one thing they were all missing when they left New England was Tom Brady. Cassell sucks.
  24. He was the slowest in the forty, but the only guy to break 4 seconds in the cone, and the fastest in the other drill. Also did more reps on the bench than any wide receiver. He's lightning off the line, and will be open 10-25 yards downfield. And he does catch the ball with no fear.
