  1. I remember watching when Josh was picked.  I had told my buddy "the Bills have picked out their guy, and they're gonna get him no matter what it takes."  I think they did the same thing when they moved up to get Dawkins and Knox.  I believe they have a guy they want in this draft, probably one in each round, and they will do what it takes to get him.  If they have to move up, they will do that.  If he's there at #30, depending on the situation, they may move down a bit to get him.  But they'll get him.

Any thoughts on who "their guy" might be?

  2. These are intentional signings.  We have added an element to the run game.  Speed.  I watched his highlights.  He's super fast.

Somebody said we did nothing about the edge position.  Obada is an upgrade.  Dude is a rock, who had more sacks in 39% of playing time last year than anybody on our team.  Epenesa's second half was really good.  Hughes is good.  We have an interior rush thanks to the return of Star.  Let's see who falls to #19, or if Beane trades up to get Kwity Paye or somebody like that.

We don't have a lot of needs.  We kept our CB2 and Dane Jackson is coming on up.  I do believe we'll address that early in the draft.  Assante Samuel Jr?  Horn? Lots of candidates.

Hopefully this absolutely kills any notion of a RB in rounds one or two.

Yes.  Now we have a speed guy, a moves guy, and a power guy.  We are a pass first team, and this adds some element of danger to our running attack, should we ever need it.

  4. Free country, right?  Free to trash a signing by a guy who put this team together.  Are you guys nuts?  This looks like a perfect fit for the Bills.  He's not from Carolina.  He's from Africa.  How the hell did he go from being an abandoned 10 year old to where he is today?  I am proud of myself when I can do 20 pushups.  Come on, man.

  5. Never heard of him.  Scanned this thread.  I understand the Carolina jokes.  Hardy har.  We have a pretty good team, eh?  After all the shifty maneuvers Beane has pulled off so far this year, suddenly people are questioning this one.  I'm just gonna keep reading about the team, doing pointless mocks, drinking coffee, and getting excited.

Plus: he has long arms, which means he can reach for the check at Duff's.

I find it interesting that we all know everybody's salaries, but it's nobody's business what I make.  Which, FYI, is less than the NFL vet minimum.

  6. If Etienne is there, they should take him.  He can add an explosion to the RB position that we do not have.

Otherwise, I'd say take the best player that fits a specific need.  If there is an edge guy who they feel can make an impact right away, take him.  If there is a great offensive lineman....well, that's what they thought they had in Ford.  Ford may still work out.  We just don't know yet.  He has the "traits," but it's likely the injuries have impacted him, and if he's healthy maybe he'll turn into the road grader they had in mind.

However, with our pass happy offense, you need your linemen to be good pass blockers.

I will say this:  they know more about every available player than any of us.  Gotta trust the process.

I've always been a draft nut, but looking back there have been choices that I'd never heard of that blossomed.  Fina...never heard of him.  Henry Jones?  nope.

When they chose Whitner, I nearly broke a wall with a shoe.  Turned out he was a better pick than Leinert.  Point is, nowadays we all have access to film and highlights of just about every player.  But we don't get to do the interviews and to dig deep.  I think they look for character above everything....because the top 250 football players are all really good athletes.  The difference is whether or not they fit the culture.

Sorry I rambled.  I'm pretty sure nobody read it anyway.  No big deal.

  7. I love it.  Mitch won 29 games with the Bears.  He's got talent.  He's started 50 games.  He's our backup.  Josh ain't going anywhere.

I wish the tight end talk would end.  We scored 500 points without featuring a tight end.  Knox has "traits."  He's gonna be just fine.  They may take a guy in the draft.  We're better than we were.  Can't wait till draft day.

    Well.. Yes and No.

Is he the answer long term at center? Most likely not. Now if someone like Creed Humphrey was available at #61? Perhaps, but would we create a hole at a position where we have a solid player already when our LB and DL units are in despair? Unlikely.

Quinn Meinerz is also a good looking kid and might be there in the 3rd, if that happens Morse could be a goner too. He would most likely be a TC cut or trade. Could likely get a pick for Morse. It really depends if we’re going BPA or not and what we do in FA.

Quinn Meinerz is a beast.  He'll probably go in the late 2nd or early 3rd.  He dominated at the Senior Bowl, and is a Division III guy.  Reminds me of that small school lineman who is on Tampa now...what's his name?  Ali Marpet from Hofstra.  I think he'll be an asset.  I hope we take him, if he's still there at the end of the 3rd.

  9. He must have a huge ego, playing with the twitter tease and all that.  I think he would have been a perfect short term guy for our team, but I think we are planning on being a long term success here.  Immediately after hearing about his deal, I'm betting Beane moved on with the goal of making this a better team.

I told my wife he can use the extra few million to buy a really comfortable chair to sit in as he watches the Bills win the Super Bowl.

  10. Russell was on the cover of SI, transferring to Wisconsin.  I'm a Wisconsin fan, and I watched what he did for that team.  He was great.  I was lobbying a bit for them to take him, admittedly because I like Wisconsin.  I thought they'd take him in the 3rd.  He's a great talent and leader, and the Bills, along with 30 other teams, passed on him.  It's happened before.  It'll happen again.

Regarding Mahomes?  He landed in the perfect spot.  We got an all-pro DB and Josh Allen out of that capital.  I love Mahomes, but I do think we did okay.

  11. I listen to Joe Marino "Locked on Bills" several times a week.  He works for The Draft Network, and is obviously a Bills fan.  You should check it out.  His review of yesterday's game was fair.  He said the Bills could have blown them out....we did get 6 scores on them, and the defense held the Jets to 4 net yards in the second half.  We had a touchdown wiped off the board.  This really was not a bad game.  He praised Zach Moss, Josh, Dane Jackson, and made some great points.
