Turn off the Jumbotrons on Sunday
IslandBillsFan replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What timestamp? -
I'm with DC Tom here.... I have little faith in this movie. Emmerich has given us such gems as 2012, The Day after Tomorrow, and 10,000 B.C.. His only movie which was decent was Independence Day (the original.) Even this is pretty corny looking back on it without any of the nostalgia for when I saw it was I was a teen.

Hi Plenz, I am somewhere in the middle of the older and newer generation being 37. I do however get up in between 4-5am most days even though my job doesn't require it. I don't know if this is the correct etiquette, but I do not text or call anyone before 8am. The only exception is if I know they are supposed to be up if we are meeting or something in the morning. I do however blast out emails like a champ in the morning. In terms of the evening things are a little more blurred. I won't text anyone after 8pm unless it is someone I am close with and I know it won't bother them. I agree with you that most people should put their phone in silent mode when going to bed. However, I don't think many people do this.

Roll Call. Buffalo vs Dallas there in Arlington
IslandBillsFan replied to CowgirlsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going with my GF who is a Cowboys fan. We are meeting my cousin, his family and some other friends who are all Bills fans. We are going to some tailgate pre-game, but I can't remember where it is or who is putting it on. It is a big Buffalo tailgate though. Looking forward to the game no matter what the outcome. After decades of watching games on Thanksgiving it will be nice to finally attend one. Also, looking forward to seeing Jerry World. I've been to 6 NFL stadiums. However, none have been built in the last decade. So it should be fun to see a modern stadium. Lastly, after years of pissing in troughs, I am really looking forward to seeing the bathrooms. -
$100 whether friend or family. I typically buy a gift too. Something I personally pick out for $25-$75. Not sure crappy appliance from a registry.

Amazing how the National Press Ignores the Bills
IslandBillsFan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On a related note about large market teams. I would make a case that even though the Bills are a small market team we do have a “stronger” fan base. I know I am biased, but Bills fans seem to continue to be die hard even if they move out of Buffalo. I know it would be impossible to gauge but any city in the US you can find a pretty serious group of Bills fans. I know a lot of casual NFL fans. -
Hi Chevy, I lived in Puerto Rico for about 10 years. Have since moved to Virginia but still go there every month or so for work. Actually, I just flew back last night. I have a lot of thoughts on things to do in PR. Below are some of my trips/activities I always enjoy. Wander around OSJ. You can hit the forts, the governors mansion, the bars, the cathedral etc. A lot to do. Most of this can be done with little to no cost and you don't need a tour guide. I always tell people to visit El San Juan Resort on a Friday or Saturday night. Nice old school hotel lobby with live music. I like visiting La Placita in Santurce. It is an area of San Juan with many restaurants and bars. Pretty local. You are allowed to drink on the streets which is nice. People often go up to El Yunque (Rain forrest.) This is fun but you need a car or to go with a group. I would drive up the mountain during the day and then hit Luquillo Kioscos for food on the way back. Guvate- Otherwise known as the pork highway. Up in the mountains but a lot of fun. If you want to go on a real adventure, rent a jeep and go up to Cerro de Nandy. This is a restaurant on a mountain. Only assessable via 4 wheel drive. Arecibo area things- If you want to trek about 1.5 hours West of San Juan there are a couple cool things to do near Arecibo. Zip Line Tours, Cueva del Ventana (Window Cave), Cueva del Indio (Indian Caves), Radio Telescope, Columbus Statue. West Coast has great beaches and seems to be more chill than San Juan. However, to get to Rincon or Isabella its a bit of a drive. PM me with any questions or anything I should elaborate on.

Some random thoughts here: 1) Not having an option for paper is BS. If someone chooses not to have a smart phone they should still have access without too many hoops to jump through. 2) Similar to some of the other stories, my dumbass lost my phone evening before the Bills/Jags playoff game. All 4 tickets for my group were on my phone. This lead to a panic to get Ticketmaster on the phone Sunday morning to get the tickets transferred. It worked out, but it was dicey. 3) Small chance I can't make the opener this weekend due to a funeral. If that is the case I will have 1 ticket available if anyone wants it.

The Final Countdown vs Eye of the Tiger
IslandBillsFan replied to Teddy KGB's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Eye of the Tiger rocks more. Especially since it will be remembered alongside Rocky which always pumps people up. However, when I worked in a bar at last call my manager would always play The Final Countdown. For that reason, I will always have a special place for it in my heart. -
So I'm in Dallas right now...
IslandBillsFan replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Question for those who have been to a game in Dallas...... I am going this year to the Thanksgiving game. I want to watch the game from our seats (which are good) but also want to look around the facilities at Jerry World. How early should I go into the complex to check it out? I was thinking trying to get to the gates around 2:15. P.S. Yes, I am aware the longer I am in stadium the more cash I will be shelling out. -
Anybody Been to Downtown Baltimore Lately?
IslandBillsFan replied to Irv's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I go to Baltimore once a month for work. It is horrible. Traffic. Cleanliness. Crime. All problems there. Outside of about a 5 block area near Camden/Inner Harbor it is all bad. What is funny is I live in Richmond which was amongst the worst cities for murders in the 80's and 90's often being called the murder capital. When you think of murder capital in the US I think of Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, and Detroit. -
Grits to me are the same as coleslaw. Any restaurant that serves grits or slaw as the standard included side is a waste.

Matt Barkley - taking things more serious?
IslandBillsFan replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What horrible pick in the last game? I looked through the highlights and the stat-line and can't find a Josh Allen INT. Did he throw one and a flag negated it? -
Brooks Koepka - The Hero Golf Deserves
IslandBillsFan replied to LB3's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've heard Brooks in interviews and I don't think he sounded smug. Actually seemed quite pleasant. On the course he looks very serious but seems to be a decent guy off of it. I have been wanting a stud who plays fast that the general public can try to emulate. Maybe this guy is everyones savior. -
What say you? Predict tonite’s outcome...
IslandBillsFan replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure if it is worth its own thread but I bet a pretty penny on the Bills with the points tonight. This breaks two of my gambling rules 1) Don't bet with your heart and 2) don't bet NFL until week #4. With that said, here was my rational: 1) Looks like Luck and Mack will not play tonight. 2) Bills should be playing offense starters for about a quarter. 3) Bills at home. 4) Anything can happen with preseason and I like taking teams with points (Bills +2.5) -
I don't know how I ever missed this image before but I LOVE IT! My favorite part is towards the end the guy in the light blue shirt is just riding with his legs on the hood and his butt in the space between the seats and the dash. After trying to stear it for a few seconds he just gives up and rolls off while moving. Hahahahah!

Stranger Things Season 3 (May contain spoilers)
IslandBillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Just finished Season 3. I kinda feel the same way I did after season 2. I enjoyed it but didn't love it. Shows I love I will rewatch over and over. Stranger things is entertaining but I don't find myself craving for more. -
I wouldn't consider any of these "classic" albums in either age or popularity but some of my favorites are: OAR- Any Time Now Tragically Hip- Live Between Us Jack Johnson- En Concert Bare Naked Ladies- Rock Spectacle Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band- Live 1975-85 Todd Snider- Near Truths and Hotel Rooms

Does anyone here not have central AC?
IslandBillsFan replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Up until I just moved to Virgina, I lived in Puerto Rico for 8 years. I did not have central AC there. It was rare for buildings to have central AC due to both the old buildings and the price of electricity. Like anything, I got used to it. However, fans were a must and individual AC units in bedrooms were also needed. The three months after the hurricane with no power were brutal. Very hot and sweaty. -
Not really. I thought it was a bit of a BraveHeart set in a different time period rip off. It was definitely better than some of Emmerich's other work. I haven't watched the Patriot in years. Maybe I'll watch it again someday.
