WEEK #1 - Bills @ Jets Game Day Thread

Hands to the face on Gilmore -
Normally, I try to stay away from Bills fantasy players. Primarily, because no one has performed in the last decade. Additionally, I always hate when I have to pick up a Bills division rival. I always root for the Bills, but sometimes fantasy makes you want weird things. This year my two picks that relate to the Bills are: 1) I have Princess Brady as my QB 2) I have the Buffalo D. What fantasy picks do you have this year that directly effect Buffalo?

Please stop using the "tags" text box as a subtitle field
IslandBillsFan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TBD, Just an opinion and I don't want/expect any changes, but here are my thoughts on the "tags" feature. When I look at TSW, I scroll through the topics which have been commented on most recently. Essentially, whatever is popular at that time. The reason for this is I am curious to catch up on any news or insight I may have missed. The tags feature seems a little strange for me because I am a user who is interested in the most current. Just searching by related tags of "roster needs" or "Fitzpatrick" pulls up all related data, however, much of it can be outdated. As everyone is aware, I am sure many people like the tags, I however, do not fall into this group. Just my humble opinion. That's for everything you guys do. Go bills! -
Two Bills Drive Annual Home Opener Tailgate XIII
IslandBillsFan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just booked my flight in for the Home Opener. I have only been to one home Bills game as an adult and am not too familiar with the tailgating scene. The last time I went, I went with my cousin and we parked at a private residence. We will be using this again this year. I remember going through Hammer's lot to get to the stadium so I am sure I will pass by it again. Anyhow my question is, is there anything to signify where TBD folks will be? Or is it just an open tailgate and if you happen to run into folks from the board, good for you? -
NEW BIRCH BIGSLEY: Top 10 Bills QBs
IslandBillsFan replied to Birch Bigsley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Birch, Loe your videos. Hate this list. Makes me want a Zoloft perscription. -
Apologize to all for my brash response to your remarks. However, according to Jetblues website and my last flight with them about a month ago, they do not have Wifi on their planes. In the airport, by all means stream Wifi. Go Bills
-
Zevo, I think you are getting some bad information here. First, Jetblue does have DirectTV but it is a limited package and does not include Sunday ticket. They have 36 of the most popular channels. This is confirmed by their website http://www.jetblue.com/flying-on-jetblue/directv/?intcmp=hd_fojb_directv and my experiences last year. Since they do have the major networks, there is a chance the game you want may be on CBS or Fox and hence you can see it. Also, you should be aware that if you are flying internationally, or over the gulf or some large body of water you lose the DirectTV coverage. Additionally, JetBlue is trying to add Wifi to their planes. This is planned for "late 2012". If your plane was equipped with Wifi, you could watch the game from a phone, lapper, or tablet. Lastly, I am not sure if Eball or Booger have flown in the last decade so I update them on some airline policies. 1) You are not allowed to use cell phones on airplanes. 2) If you tried to hide watching the game on your cell phone, there is a chance a flight attendant could catch you, and give you some crap. 3) Even if you can hide your phone and watch try to watch the game, at 35,000 feet cell phone coverage is spotty and it would be near impossible to stream video. I fly Jetblue weekly. I will be on a flight Thursday and will confirm these policies for you. Best of luck.

[closed]Another fitz post
IslandBillsFan replied to THATS KILLER ORANGE JUICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like the optimism. Like any team, I think we will improve in some areas and maybe even slide a little back in others. I would it, But I can't honestly think every area of our team is going to improve or stay the same. In regards to Fitz........ I don't need gangbuster numbers. I just want him better than he was the second half of the season. BD -
When thinking about these types of questions I have to think of what could be the most possible wins just to break my heart..... so 9 and we miss the playoffs.

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/goddess/gisele-bundchen-confirms-pregnancy-news-baby-bump-revealing-190048264.html It appears Giselle is pregnant again. When most thinner women start to show, they are usually between 1-2 months pregnant. This would put the baby born around late playoff or Superbowl time. I would be ecstatic if the Pat's weren't even in the picture this late in the game but if they are do you think Brady would miss the birth of his kid to play in a game? I know many players often play just after or right before labor. Do you think they would induce labor early to avoid missing a Superbowl? This got me thinking, I can't think of any other profession where someone has the choice to watch their kid being born and would possible skip it. I know military husbands often miss their child's birth...but they usually don't have the option. Would any of you fathers out their skip your childs birth for your "most important meeting of the year?" Lastly, I know this is a weak subject, but if Welker's hair plugs made it on the stadium wall, I figured Brady Baby #3 could make it as well.

Jim, Good morning. Not trolling here. Let me put it another way. Let's go over to a Philly board and have the same poll. I would be impressed if Fitz got one vote. This leads me to two conclusions, either Buffalo Fan's are far wiser than the rest of the league and all the "analysts", or we like anyone are victim to wanted our guy to be the best.
-
I think you are all F'ing crazy! If you took this poll outside of WNY and Greater Philly, it would probably be about 95% Vick 5% Fitz. The 5% for Fitz would come from those who absolutely abhor Vick for his dog fighting actions. Love the hometown spirit and support of our horse, but this is really a no brainer (literally too, because Fitz is more intelligent) VICK ALL DAY EVERYDAY!

its a new dawn for pro athletes
IslandBillsFan replied to loyal2dagame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see some stats on comparing NFL employees to other large company organizations. For example, there are 32 teams with 53 players. Add about 5 high publicity coaching positions. That makes it around a 1,824 employee organization. I am not surprised there are this many arrests. Additionally, the media coverage continues to keep this incidents in front of the fans. From 2000-2008 USA averaged about 1.4 Million DUI's per year Linky. If you average our population over those years we have about 292 Million people.Linky 2 Without breaking down, race, class, and gender, that approximately means one in 209 people in the US get a DUI year. Based on abbreviated info the NFL should have about 8.7 Dui's per year. By my count, we are nearing this number already but many of the notorious headlining charges have been assault, disorderly conduct, domestic.....not just DUI's The NFL needs to behave better because they are in the public eye and our "role models". However, I don't feel they are nearly as bad as the media (or many on this board) make them out to be. If someone really wanted to do a study, they should compare young pro athletes to young celebratories with money. Lindsey Lohan and company would probably be a worse lot. -
Stevie is good. I am very thankful he is coming back. I would say I "like" him as a receiver and a part of our team. However, I HATE his celebrations resulting in penalties. However, I can almost understand his doing so. It is not just "for fun" or to "celebrate" when he gets to the endzone. He and may others like him are drawing attention to themselves. Every 15 yard sharpie penalty gets him a clip on Sportscenter and some media attention. If you a Joe Blow fan from Nebraska you start to notice Stevie more than other players because of his antics. Their are fans (mostly younger) who love the show of the game. Their are those who hate it too. However, in the highlight reals if you have a choice to show Barry Sanders celebrate in the end zone or a guy like Stevie you show Stevie. The difference here is guys like Barry made their highlights before the end zone in the field... and guys like Stevie make them in the endzone. Stevie has made great plays on the field and he should be credited for that not his "why so serious" antics. I also find his "I was ready to go to San Fran" attitude a little frightening. Seems like he wanted to quit and go to a winning squad. Not grid it out and make a team better. His "change of heart" to be all aboard this year will need to be proven Lastly, and most importantly, STEVIE PLANS THESE 15 YARD PENALTIES!!! He premeditates his dances and shirts written on with sharpies. I absolutely loathe this. I can sympathize with the guy who accidentely takes his helmet off or does something in the heat of the moment. The fact that Stevie plans it pregame is outright an embarrassment and makes him a me first type of player.

Penn State sanctions handed down
IslandBillsFan replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unrelated thoughts from a small time college football fan: 1) Seems pretty stiff and rightfully so. I would have preferred the Death penalty rather than a four year dragging on penalty. 2) I am always curious about when they take away wins or trophies. What does that actually accomplish/ penalize? I understand Joe Paterno will lose his legacy but.... Any player during those years will remember their records from each year. Whether they were stripped of the wins or not. Any student/fan will always remember their teams from those years. Also, I would be curious to see if during any of the years wins are being pulled away, if Penn State beat a #1 ranked team, undefeated team or national championship contender. If so, theoretically said team should have been playing for a nationally championship. Does anyone know if they ruined another teams season during this period? 3) Bush decided to forfeit his 2005 Heisman trophy, however, everyone still knows he was the best player in 2005. Hard to just erase trophies and wins. 4) USC had a 2 year bowl ban and lost 20 football scholarships. However, being bowl eligible this year, they are preseason ranked by many around #2 or #3. seems like the lack of bowl games and scholarship losses did far from KILL the program. *I know 4 years is much worse than a 2 years because you loss a whole class, however, I am just making the point USC has returned as strong as when they got penalized. -
