  1. Did anyone actually watch the play? Jones was the only truly open WR at the time of the throw. He ran a great pattern for three yards and then for some reason stopped running and jumped for the ball. If he just keeps running to the back of the end-zone it is an easy catch and TD. Horrible play by Jones.

It goes beyond short pass or long bomb. Jackson has shown he can get 2 yards almost any play or let McIntyre try. Or quarterback sneak on really short. Pick your running play on short yardage. But it seems Chan likes to try to do the unexpected on short yardage and it never works. Sometimes the "expected" play is expected for a reason - because it usually works. I love Chan but sometimes he tends to outsmart himself. Glad he has faith in Fitz but on short yardage don't be afraid to RUN THE BALL!

  2. @ John - I agree. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but this team is a work in progress. We had a great start to the season, and when we are healthy, we can play with anybody. The problem? By mid season, most teams are fighting a war of attrition, and the Bills are suffering the same fate. Along with upgrades in the defense, the Bills need to get some quality depth on the roster. Will it happen this off-season? Hopefully. And hopefully we don't continue to let quality free agents leave the team (a la Jabari Greer)

Rgr. We're in year two of a three year rebuild. Really we're in year one, because the first draft Buddy and Chan were still unaware of just how bad the team really was. I don't think they would have gone for Spiller had they realized how the deep the needs on the lines (both O and D) were at the time. I think they thought the team was OK, but DJ sucked and they would come in and pick things up with better coaching. It took Chan several games into the regular season to realize he had the wrong QB and the team was in deep, deep trouble. We had a great draft this year based on positional needs and Chan has a plan going forward - it will just take time.

I'm OK with not making the playoffs as long as we continue to improve. Next year is the year we will make a serious run at it. If we make a wildcard spot this year, gravy.

  3. I think it would be nice for the Bills if the story of this game was about the emergence of someone like Spiller as opposed to the emergence of Maybin.

The Jets are loving the fact that Aaron Maybin making a few plays draws all the attention from their ultra-bust draft choice Vernon Gholston.

It's important for them to prove they can get something for nothing as they are essentially a team built around first round picks and expensive and/or high profile trade acquisitions.

The Bills are the exact opposite. They boast a roster full of hidden gems and freebies and that earns them somewhat of a darling status and a respect with the media that the attention hungry Jets wish they had.

Granted, the Bills success with players like Fitzpatrick, Fred Jackson, George Wilson, Stevie Johnson etc. etc. etc. is actually a bit more of a product of having a roster full of "opportunity" for the past 5-6 years than it is an ultra-keen eye for talent by Buddy Nix. But to the media, it's like an overnight success.

What the Bills need is production from their prime picks. Dareus has been solid from day 1 and has proven he can be dominate a lesser player across from him. But otherwise they haven't gotten much from early picks. Would be great if guys like Spiller, Troupe, Carrington, Williams and Sheppard start making their mark as more than part-time bodies and become impact players.

I am perfectly happy to watch our high draft picks sit on the bench, as long as we keep winning with the UFAs and hand-my-down players.

  4. Alot of attention this week is how the Jets will stop our offense or can our offense score on the Jets defense....but can our defense do it again.....

Last week: we got soo much pressure with just Johnson, Edwards, Dareus, and a rotation of Kelsay and Moats.....switch allowed sheppard and Barrett to fill wholes and take away quick read

The 2nd secondary did a wonderful job at taking away the first option....Sanchez isn't a great QB...but he is a capable one...his first option is Dustin Keller then Holmes and finally Buress in the redzone.....

Not impressed with the Jets offense but they can run the ball and they use the play action and roll out plays well..... but if we can get pressure without blitz and make sachez feel the need to throw the tough passes .... I thank we can have a repeat.... on defense

I would love it if Dareous had 2.5 more sacks than the entire Jets D.
