My optimism meter must be pegged.
I do trust Chix more than the last several duos to find better players.
My question is, will Ralph Inc. pay the bucks to resign good players, and get some depth in FA? If so, agree - turning a corner.
I'm not a huge Stevie fan, but we can't keep replacing our best players and expect to get better. Sign him now at low #1 money and find an equal or better WR to complement him.
Many thought Wood could not recover from his first injury. He's shown he is tough and motivated to get back on the field. He'll be back for camp and hopefully pro bowl bound next year.
He has four SB losses working against him, plus others from his team are already representing the SB Bills. That said, I think this is one of the weaker lists in a while, Parcells is a shoe-in but the other spots are anyone's guess. Go Andre!
Big Pat Williams was a catastrophic loss. Losing Stevie would be regrettable but not catastrophic.
He's a good #2 but I wouldn't blame Ralph Inc. for letting him go if he insists on #1 WR money. Yes I'm known to complain Ralph is cheap but that doesn't mean I expect him to pay stupid money.
Is it too late to trade him for a fourth round draft pick?
This is all great but will Ralph Inc. shell out for quality free agents? Hopefully the empty seats after game 10 or so will have an impact. Also let's see if Whaley has juice, if it's true he is taking over from Nix.
Best game I ever watched, and vindication for Frank Reich, who in his prime could have been a starting QB on many other teams. Next to Darryl Talley, Frank is my favorite "team" player.
Let me add: stay committed to the run past the first quarter, and you will ease the pass rush. Also opens up the play action. Chan gives up on the run too early and forces Fitz to throw under pressure.
