So, you're a "stat scout"? Got it. I don't know if he has anything left, but he's been perennially injured and seems to have been the recipient of serial bad luck with penalties negating his big plays. There's a ton of articles out there about it dating back to his rookie season (like the one linked here discussing his returns in a 2019 Wild Card game - one of which was an 80 yard score called back due to penalty https://theathletic.com/755119/2019/01/08/tavon-austin-prepares-to-return-to-la-where-the-hurt-is-almost-gone/ or this one explaining his extension in 2016 which references 3 or 4 TD returns called back https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/29/jeff-fisher-tavon-austin-was-paid-based-on-anticipation-of-what-hes-going-to-do/). Rams fans also seem to think he was misused and unlucky vs. viewing him as a bust. Watch his NFL film - he has good PR instincts and could fill the role for the Bills assuming he's healthy.
-
I guess just a camp body, but he can definitely fill the PR role better than anyone we have on our roster. Apparently, his stats don't tell the whole story as Rams fans think he was hosed by playing for Fisher and a bunch of his electric plays were called back because of penalties. Here's the highlights: https://youtu.be/EJvZUVnI9dg Yeah, he was a lottery ticket for sure, and I don't really hold it against Beane or anything, but I'm sure he could have found some value there at that pick as he's done in the past.
-
I was initially excited by Stevenson based on his college tape, but man, what a stiff he's turned out to be. Beane has been great at drafting "football players", but he definitely whiffed on this one.

Poll: Does Ryan Fitzpatrick Belong on the Bills Wall of Fame?

If either guy goes up there before Naaman Roosevelt, the Bills are officially dead to me. -
Poll: Does Ryan Fitzpatrick Belong on the Bills Wall of Fame?
TheBrownBear replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jesus, what is with the obsession with this guy? I like Fitz. Cool dude and all, but he holds no records, zero accolades, never finished in the top half of the league (while with the Bills) in any major statistical QB metric, and never led us to a single winning season. There's probably 20 guys that belong up there before Fitz (Moulds, Ruben Brown, Fred Jackson, etc.). -
I've been one to sort of reserve judgment and watch this from a distance with curiosity as to how it would all play out. But I finally watched the Real Sports segment last night and Ms. Solis came across as HIGHLY BELIEVABLE and clearly exhibiting the behaviors of someone who was suffering from serious emotional trauma. After watching that I'm not sure how anyone could come away thinking that Deshaun Watson did not cross the line and do something seriously wrong during his interactions with Ms. Solis. I don't remember much from Crim Law, but it would seem some of his alleged behavior waded into actual sexual assault territory. I would not be shocked by a Trevor Bauer length suspension at this point. Edit: Also, if you value your humanity, do not click the link to the Cleveland Browns fan forum thread. It's the most disgusting thing I've read in quite some time.

Allen tied for 5th lowest checkdown rate in NFL
TheBrownBear replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yikes. If that list isn't a sign that Josh needs to check down more often, I don't know what is. -
ESPN+ has a ton of good live sports content if you're at all a fan of college sports. Now that they have PGA Tour Live it is a no brainer for me. I almost never watch regular ESPN "programming", but ESPN+ is good stuff for the price.

How many wings can you eat???? Allen eats a bunch apparently.
TheBrownBear replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love wings, but I love my health as much or more than those crispy snacks. The most I can remember putting down was finishing off an entire bucket (50) at Duff's with my Mom maybe 15 years ago when I was home to visit. I think she may have eaten 8-12, so that was around 40 for me. Nowadays I'm good with about 10-15. That's plenty filling at this point in my life. -
Jon Feliciano's take on KC playoff game

Yeah, that's what struck me the most. Guy could barely put two words together. Yikes. -
I agree that the Chargers look great on paper heading into 2022, but that seems to be the case every year for the past 20 years and they've disappointed more often than not. I'm not sure what it is with that organization, because coaches and players have turned over multiple times, but they just can't seem to put it together. I agree with FB above. For me it's the Chiefs. Until we can progress further than them in the playoffs, then they are the team to beat, imo. And as much as the AFC improved overall in the offseason, the Bills and Chiefs are still head and shoulders above the rest.

Vegas oddsmakers really like the Bills
TheBrownBear replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe '91? But the 49ers, Skins and Giants all would have been neck and neck with them in odds. Edit: Looks like I was right. Preseason odds favorites in 91: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1991/preseason_odds.htm -
Yeah. Color me NOT WORRIED. Just played one of the greatest games of all time, at home, against hated rival, in front of a packed and rabid fanbase, in the playoffs, against the GOAT coach, in 0 degree weather. So, he had better stats on the road than at home last year in a season where Buffalo had exceptionally bad weather on numerous game days. Case seems open and shut to me.

Not mad. It's still disappointing, but I am much more excited about 2022 than I am disappointed about 2021.
-
I think he's gotten better and better at the situational awareness and in game decisions from season to season, and probably the best we've had in that regard in my lifetime. Yes, something was horribly screwed up with 13 seconds and he's ultimately responsible for that mess, but I'm not inclined to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Nothing short of a full on player revolt or him getting caught doing some despicable act or committing some serious crime.

I'm not scared of the guy, but what you posted isn't accurate, unless you're already counting 2022 as having been played. He had 7 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2019 (for a third straight year) and was basically shelved for the entirety of 2020 with a knee injury. So, the stats you list are mostly confined to his performance in 2021. Having said all that, he's still likely washed.

OT Deshaun getting ready for a sit down with NFL
TheBrownBear replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
What I don't get is how a team is willing to make such a huge investment on a guy who has (allegedly) proven to be a serial sexual predator. This isn't a single incident of he said/she said. These types of tigers don't usually change their stripes. This is a sick dude who is likely to repeat the behavior. How can you place your trust in this guy, let alone have him serve as the face of your franchise? Mindboggling to me. -

Makes sense. If Tyreek Hill isn't on the field, 13 seconds never happens. -
It's amazing. Kudos to the Chargers PR team.
