Rosen has always had poor pocket mobility and awareness going back to his UCLA days. Nice clean pocket and he's great, throws a beautiful ball, etc. But get a little pressure in his face and he becomes a turnover machine. He's never improved a bit in that regard and it's why he's (almost) washed out of the league.

Well that settles it. Case Keenum is our new 1:00PM starting quarterback.

Bills ranked dead last in YAC last season.
TheBrownBear replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Chiefs had almost +100 YAC against us in the divisional playoff game (227-135). It's probably why despite putting up similar passing numbers, most fans came away from that game thinking Josh Allen was the better quarterback. Mahomes got almost 2/3 of his yardage from YAC. It would be nice if we could get more of those easy yards this year. -

And the loss of Daboll will devastate our chances next season and Josh will turn into a pumpkin.

I Watched SB 28 In Full Last Night, Thoughts & Analysis
TheBrownBear replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the conservative gameplan was the result of us winning that early season game in Dallas 13-10 in a very similar fashion to what we saw in the first half of the Super Bowl. Dallas was the better team that day (they outgained us by 150 yards) but turned the ball over a ton and we just sort of went into a shell and held on. Given how the previous year's Super Bowl had gone and the way that the earlier game played out, I think Marv (and maybe the players too) thought the only chance they had to win was to play super conservative, try not to turn it over and hope that our bend but don't break defense could produce enough turnovers from Dallas to win in a squeaker. They knew in their bones that Dallas was the superior team and would boat race them in a track meet type of game. And based on the first half, the gameplan just might have actually worked if not for Thurman's fumbles. -
Count me in as a member of the "Davis is gonna be a stud" camp. The guy was already a good route runner, with strong hands and great footwork along the sidelines. If he's added a little burst and more physicality, he can be a legit no. 1 receiver in this league. Very excited to see what Josh will do this year with Diggs, improved versions of Gabe and Knox, and the addition of the smooth Cook out of the backfield. Our boy has some elite weapons to play with and that's not even counting Crowder, the explosiveness of McKenzie, and potential playmaking ability of Shakir.

I agree. It would be nearly ruinous to the product. It's a short schedule as is. You need every team putting their best players on the field when healthy. If you want an 18th game, just give them a second bye week - or put the Pro Bowl (make it non-contact) or other all-star showcase - at the halfway mark of the season and put games on pause for 2 weeks.

I've had multiple Heaven Can Wait style dreams where I'm transported onto the field to QB the Bills to a Super Bowl victory. Depressing to wake up and find you're no longer in Josh Allen's body. But not approaching the level of depression my wife must feel waking up next to me.

The Bills were in dire straits and desperate when they turned to Marv, so that's a bit of an outlier (see also, Chan Gailey, Dick Jauron, hmmmnnn seems to be a Buffalo thing). Belichick was considered a great defensive mind with far better qualifications than Frazier when he got his second chance. Oh, and he was only 48 years old when the Pats hired him. Frazier is 63. No one (not named the Houston Texans) is hiring a 63 year old defensive retread these days. It is what it is. Frazier, like most good coordinators, had his one shot as a head coach with the Vikings and failed.

It doesn't "scare" me, but, yes, it sure sets certain fans up for disappointment should we not meet the expectations of the media talking heads. Of course, I believe we are good enough to make it to and win the Super Bowl, but so many things have to go right during the course of a season to make that a reality (luck with injuries, catching teams at the right time, bounces of the ball, etc.). As long as they play hard and smart and leave it all on the field, I can live with the results such as they are.

Article on 5 scariest QB's -- Allen #2

Why do they refer to Lamar Jackson's 2021 season as a "so called slump?" He had almost as many interceptions as TDs. I know there were a bunch of injuries, but call it like it is. He had a bad year. -
Random Bills’ Games Stuck in the Memory Bank
TheBrownBear replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Patriots at Bills 1994. Must win game for the playoffs and we had an early lead behind Frank Reich. Bledsoe absolutely blew out doors off in the second half. Officially ended our run of four straight Super Bowls and was the end of the early 90s dynasty. I was 15 and at the game with my Dad and there was this sense of sadness and we knew the great run was over. -
Roe was bad law. It's easy to see how it was overturned. (To be clear, I believe in bodily autonomy and support a constitutional amendment to protect this right. And I sure as hell don't want to move in the direction that Justice Thomas would love to push us based on his opinion).

Okay I'll start. Isaiah Hodgins for Vanessa Hudgens. Barely need to change the name on the back of the jersey. -

We definitely need another DB to start the season, imo. I wonder if there's anyone that Beane is eyeing and this is just about freeing up every last bit of cash to make it happen. -
Josh Allen is Rob Johnson's doppelgänger
TheBrownBear replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I HATED Rob Johnson during the '98-00 seasons and was a Flutie guy all the way, but I gained a measure of respect for him after attending the Bills loss at San Diego in 2001. The guy got KILLED all game long, but continued to lead us back with score after score in the second half to keep us in the game despite what seemed to be an endless stream of special teams gaffes. We ultimately lost because of a late game kickoff return by the Bolts and a blocked field goal when we were attempting to tie it at the end (the Jake Arians era...haha). But man, Johnson was electric that day, used every ounce of his athleticism getting us down the field and took a hell of a beating in the process. I still never liked him, but I respected him after that. Even though that turned out to be the last decent game he ever played as an NFL QB. Ultimately, he just didn't have a great feel for the game - kinda like Losman in that regard - some have "it" and some don't. -
I feel ya, 716. As I've gotten older, I've learned to enjoy the moment without fretting too much about the end goal (i.e., I'm not a "Super Bowl or bust" guy). This is a damn good team made up of seemingly damn fine men. I think we're in for a lot of fun this season. Can't wait for kickoff.
