  1. Not really. Skill players typically have the ball in their hands (ball, hands and arms are in front of their chests) and are bracing themselves before a hit. They don't tend to take defenseless chest shots. It absolutely makes sense that this would most likely happen to a defender with arms wide open, attempting to wrap up a ball carrier who is coming straight downhill at him. The other thing I could see is a quarterback getting speared in the chest by a headfirst defender as he's releasing the ball (like the Milano hit on White - though that was clean obviously).
  2. Humblebrag. That's a little slow for a LB these days too. We do have a need for interior offensive linemen though.
  3. I said the same in the Pats pregame thread. Bills should absolutely rest their starters on Sunday if KC wins. They have zero incentive to go all out and risk injuries to their most key players.
  4. Now that we've got the good news on Damar, I can finally get really excited about watching Peterman play this weekend.
  5. That doesn't work. Then you end up with three AFC teams after two weeks of playoffs.
  6. Announcing an 8 team playoff field today or tomorrow would make for a very exciting final weekend. It would also ensure that the NFL's marquee Sunday night game (GB vs. Det) would be a win and in scenario for both teams.
  7. Knowing the NFL, they'd probably play it in Munich or Mexico City.
  8. If we lose this weekend to the Pats, wouldn't that set us up for a rematch against the Pats the following weekend? I'd for sure take that. If the Chiefs win on Saturday, I say rest Josh, Diggs, Poyer, anyone that's banged up, really, against the Pats.
  9. I've got a 2 year old bottle of Martinelli's and a half drunk fifth of Popov. Let's say we mix 'em together and make magic happen.
  10. If things keep progressing as they have, I'd think there's a good chance he's able to attend a Bills Super Bowl win.
  11. That's the only way this would "make sense" to the Dolphins idiot ownership. (not that I think it does).
  12. Yes. It means he has a CPC score of 1 and should go on to live a normal life from a neurological standpoint. This is GREAT news! He will survive and continue to be "Damar" as his friends and family know him.
  13. My father was black and blue from his neck to his kneecaps after he awoke following CPR, sedation, cooling, intubation, etc. - CPR is a very violent act to the body.
  14. Given everything this team has been through, it's hard to believe he isn't given more consideration for Coach of the Year honors. I don't think the national audience quite understands how trying this season has been for the Bills.
  15. It's a standard procedure after any cardiac arrest. They did the same thing to my Dad who was pulseless for 12 minutes. He's still with us and surprisingly no worse for wear.
  16. I'll be honest that I don't have much desire to watch football for quite awhile. Not sure I want to watch them play this weekend. But if the team rallies and calls on us fans for support so they can do something special in honor of Damar, I'll be right there screaming my lungs out on the weekend.
  17. Just have the refs call 37 penalties against the Chiefs on Sunday. Problem solved.
  18. It's a wretched place. The worst of the worst.
  19. I took a line drive to the face while pitching a high school game. No permanent damage, but I was more than content to play center field after that...lol.
  20. This situation is really a fluke type thing that could happen in any sport where contact is made. Having said that, my kids aren't playing football, mostly because I haven't steered them towards it. I wanted to play as a kid, but was advised against it for my own personal medical reasons. My Dad was a very good football player, but also told me not to play - said it wasn't much fun and you could end up with a lot of long term pain. Now that I'm older, I don't regret not having played at all. High school basketball and baseball were more than enough to keep me active and teach me the value of teamwork.
  21. It was obviously very traumatic, but it was a fluke and Hamlin is almost certainly going to survive. I feel pretty confident that the team will rally in his absence.
  22. I'm not saying you don't have an argument. Just saying there's no easy answer from a fairness standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills voluntarily request/accept a forfeit given the good nature shown by the Bengals and the rest of the league to be honest. We are still only about 17 hours out from the actual incident and the NFL/Bills/Bengals don't want to distract from the fact that one of their own is fighting for his life. I think everyone is just waiting on a positive Damar update and then everything will be sorted out shortly thereafter. Based on similar medical situations I've witnessed and the little bits of info that have come out from Damar's spokesperson, I suspect that we are only 24-36 hours from truly positive and inspiring news regarding Damar's prognosis and a potential statement from Damar himself.
  23. My bad. Thanks for the correction on that. 👍
  24. How is awarding the Bengals a win for a 4 point lead 10 minutes into a 60 minute game fair to the Ravens who are still fighting for a division championship? Unfortunately, there's really no "fair" way to go about it if the game isn't played. Awarding no contests and going by winning percentage is probably the best they can do at this point from a logistics standpoint. The Chiefs are the big winners in this scenario. The Bills are both losers (lose 1 seed) and winners (secure 2 seed) and the same for the Bengals (gifted the division title, but lose out on potential 1 or 2 seed). The Ravens get screwed the worst I suppose, but they are still in the playoffs.
