  1. They are both great QBs. I tend to favor Brady as well, but he's had the benefit of playing for one of the all-time greatest coaches for the entirety of his career. I think that plays a huge part in the performances you see from these guys in the biggest games and against the best teams. Mora, Dungy, Caldwell and Fox are all average coaches in my opinion. They aren't close to being in Belichick's league.
  2. As a fellow "victim" of the law school scam, the issue is that these schools were almost uniformly inflating their employment statistics to lure in their prey. And it's not just bottom tier diploma mills. I attended a top-20 law school and the employment placement statistics made it seem like it was a slam dunk that I'd land a $140k gig so long as I put in a decent amount of effort, and that I was virtually guaranteed of something in the $80-100k range just by graduating. Turns out these schools are very creative in how they report their employment numbers and do things like set up students with temporary school paid gigs to pad their numbers, only to leave you with no legitimate legal employment opportunities. Maybe the top 20% of my class did well and landed the high-paying biglaw jobs, the next 20% found some type of mid-law or government job, and the remaining 60% were left to scramble for sh*tlaw or non-jd positions. Still, I blame myself for going to law school when the only thing that interested me about it was the potential salary. I was shortsighted and I paid the price.
  3. Should be a close game. They have a good defensive front and sort of a middling offense. Should be similar to the Lions game. I like our chances at home.
  4. The funny thing is that the Vikes did just about everything right on that drive. Just some great individual plays/one-on-one victories by our guys.
  5. McKelvin is a pretty good corner at this point. People hate him because he was a 1st round db drafted by Jauron (who always seemed to prioritize the position over other areas of need), the NE fumble, and his struggles locating the ball during his first couple of seasons in the league. He's always done a good job (for the most part) of staying with his man and now that he's learned how to play the ball a bit he's an above-average cover guy.
  6. I don't like our chances. Jets will get physical with us. I see us having a very hard time moving the ball. Geno Smith is the type of qb that you should blitz the hell out of, but schwartz will sit back, rush 3-4, and allow geno to get comfortable enough to hurt us with a few throws. I smell a 10 point loss.
  7. The problem is that we have mostly been playing like crap since week 3. Yes, we miraculously pulled two wins out of our behinds during that stretch, but what we've seen is not a recipe for success. The team is getting worse, not better, at this point. Reminds me a lot of 2003.
  8. It wasn't pretty but it was a win. More than seattle can say today.
  9. i'll stop watching the games until we get back to .500. that's the new rule i have for myself, since the games take away from quality time with my kids (they have no interest in Bills football and it's hard to blame them).
  10. No one is saying this is a great situation. Or that Orton is the longterm solution (outside of 2-3 years). Only that Orton shouldn't be the whipping boy for the fans' frustrations with the front office. Anybody that's an experienced football watcher can plainly see that Orton is playing average-to-good over his first two starts, yet there is a vocal minority that scream out "Orton sucks!" or "Orton is mediocre." No. The dude is playing pretty well and gave us a chance to win against two teams with a combined 8-4 record. I actually still have some hope of the playoffs with Orton behind center. I couldn't say the same when EJ was taking snaps.
  11. IMO, right now he's also better than Tannehill, Palmer/Stanton and Bridgewater. I like him more than Foles too, who I view as a product of Kelly's system. Personally, I like him more than Eli and Stafford, but you can comfortably group him with those guys. So, he's a solidly middle-of-the-pack kind of qb. Which is about the best that we can hope for over the next couple of years while we draft and groom our newest qb-of-the-future. Poor guy. His dong is the same size as a potato chip. Small, thin, brittle and salty.
  12. That's too bad. Is it me or are we knocking a lot of guys out?
  13. Pretty sure arguable GOAT status qb = quality starter. So you've got Manning and Brady as clear quality starters, and guys like Rodgers, Brees and Luck as passable stopgap types.
  14. You're right. 39 isn't more than the 27 (10 and 17) that Manuel put up in his last two starts.
  15. Actually, yes. If you wanted to gauge your best opportunity to land a starting position, it makes sense to let preseason play out and see which team has the greatest need at QB. Seems to have worked out well for Orton, no? Starting QB on a relatively talented team in the playoff hunt. lol. exactly. and am i the only one who has noticed how we seem to be scoring TDs now inside of the redzone? I think we're 4 of 5 (and 4 of our last 4) under Orton.
  16. I don't get this post. What? We'd be better off going 4-12 with Manuel and no first rounder? At least with Orton we stay in the hunt and avoid the ugliness of a full-fledged player revolt.
  17. Might be the dumbest thing I've read yet. If he didn't want to play football, why has he started the past two games for the Bills? Did that celebration at the end of the Detroit game look like a guy with no passion that doesn't want to play football? How about when Orton kicked the punt team off the field and converted on that 4th down bomb? Even if he was just in it for the paycheck, why not just pull a Michael Vick and willfully sabotage yourself so that you ensure you'll never see the field again? He wanted out of Dallas because he wanted the opportunity to compete as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
  18. Take out Spiller's return TD and you've got 18 ppg for Manuel. Also consider how many short fields the defense gave Manuel to work with versus what we've seen since Orton has taken over. For instance, 4 of our scoring drives against Miami came from when we started at approximately midfield or better. Against Chicago we had 3 scoring drives from midfield or better, including a 7 yard touchdown "drive." Compare that with Orton who has never once yet started a drive in opponent's territory. And has an average drive start of our own 24 yard line through 2 games.
  19. I guess I'm going against the grain, but I was a huge skeptic when it came to Orton and he's looked pretty darn good to me through two weeks. The two picks were bad but he's been asked/forced to make some pretty ridiculous throws into tight windows. I feel like we can win with him. Even in the playoffs. Clean up the penalties and stick to your assignments on defense yesterday and we might be talking about an exciting win.
  20. Yeah, that really was shameful by Hopkins. Felt bad for Fitz to lose the game that way. Uncanny how he almost always makes the big mistake when the game's on the line. Now that he's gone, I choose to remember him by those great performances against Oakland and New England at the beginning of 2011. Truly Fitzmagic in those games.
  21. lol. i remember when the goos were considered a solid up and coming local punk band. it's amazing how their image and reputation changed over the years. their early stuff is still pretty good to my ears and some of their poppier stuff (up to and including "a boy named goo") isn't bad .
  22. Awesome and strange at the same time. I live in San Diego, so apparently I get the game this weekend, but folks in LA are stuck with GB/Mia
  23. I suppose anything is possible. I'm not sold on the guy, but he's the best we've got for this season.
  24. Who cares? It's just a friggin game! Have fun with it! And enjoy watching the quality play while we have it
