Yeah, I mean, why spend a 5th round pick on a guy and develop him in your system, when you can wait and use a 1st round pick on him in three years based on one good start in a meaningless end of season game in 2016?

Fitz to Jets - trade complete
TheBrownBear replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz did nothing in that game. His TD pass was a five yard slant that Evans turned into a big play. We won because Sanchez threw 6 picks. -
New England Patriots caught deflating game balls
TheBrownBear replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that Pete's a cheat too. Brought in the Ting brothers so their shady doctor dad could feed his entire roster steroids. Just go look at the laughable pictures of Cushing...lol. He also paid Reggie Bush's family among others. Who said cheaters never prosper? -
Write ESPN to tell them to fire Mike Rodak
TheBrownBear replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TY. The guy is there only to stir the pot and not really to report actual Bills news to the fans. I don't have any problem with Sully or his negativity, but I absolutely hate this smug Rodak kid. -
December 29. Orton retires. The day of infamy.
TheBrownBear replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would be hilarious if Orton claimed he was retiring just because he hated Marrone and now he comes back as our veteran caretaker qb for one more year. Wouldn't completely shock me. -
Do you approve hiring Rex Ryan as HC
TheBrownBear replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holy hell, yes, I approve of the hire and I'm darn excited. First legit coach we've brought in since I started watching the Bills (1985). I truly believe he'll get this team to the playoffs in the next two years. -
Now that I've calmed down a bit...
TheBrownBear replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. We are right where we should be at .500. What games did we get "damn lucky" in? I guess Detroit with the missed field goals. Other than that? Minnesota? We played an ugly game, overcame 4 turnovers and made it happen in the 4th quarter. The rest were solid wins. The only other game that really felt like luck played a major role was the KC game, where a couple of fluke fumbles cost us a game we controlled. Also, we were never really blown out all year. That's not the sign of a 4 win team. -
Go get Scott Frost from Oregon as your OC. Let him install that up-tempo run-first offense. It would be a perfect fit for Buffalo winters and EJ Manuel.

Would you punt 4th & 2 down 14 points?
TheBrownBear replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't really fault Marrone here. If you miss it, the Broncos are guaranteed 3 points and the game is over with 6 minutes to play. By punting it away, we actually still had some sort of puncher's chance at the end. It's a tough call and easy to second guess, but in this situation you can argue that it actually worked out about as well as you could have hoped. -
Carpenter or Gay for Onside
TheBrownBear replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the announcers noted that Carpenter was 2 of 4 on onside kicks for his career. i didn't have a problem with it. i assume they've been practicing with Gay and they felt comfortable with his abilities. -
A Few Passing Thoughts About The Denver Game......
TheBrownBear replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have the kind of defense that feasts on crap qbs. Great front four can shut down the run and make a team one dimensional. Unfortunately, our linebackers and secondary are very average in coverage, so they can easily be exploited by an elite qb. The crap QBs we've faced are either too inexperienced or just plain suck too much to get the o-line in the right protections and get rid of the ball to beat the rush. This won't be the case with Manning, Rodgers and Brady (as we've already seen). Given our anemic offense, I expect 10-20 point losses in each of these three games. -
That's my point. I'd consider 2-2 (9-7) a miracle. And that will not be good enough to get us into the playoffs. I'm saying there is no chance we finish 3-1. None.
-
No. Every game is precious to every team still in the playoff hunt this time of year. Denver only has a one game lead in their division. They have a ton of veterans, an experienced head coach and a 15+ year hall of fame QB. You better believe that they will be laser focused on destroying us come Sunday.
-
Lol. It will take a minor miracle to finish 9-7. No way in hell we are winning 3 out of 4 with this offense. Still, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
-
Lol. Yeah, let's just hire a wife-beater like Cable as head coach in this current NFL environment. I'm sure that will go over well.

Maybe the Bills are not So Bad After All
TheBrownBear replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes and No. Yes, we aren't terrible, but, no, we aren't good either. Our results are pretty typical of a mediocre/average NFL team. Records of opponents we've beaten 2-8, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-3. Records of opponents we've lost to: 5-5, 6-4, 8-2, 7-3 and 6-4. We have one win against a truly terrible team that we should always beat (Jets) and one loss against a world-beater type that almost all teams would lose (Pats). The rest of the games fall into the winnable/competitive kind of category and we've split them. Pretty average team. Pretty average results. -
Jimmy Johnson "Buffalo sloppy with the ball"
TheBrownBear replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are 12/32 teams in turnover percentage and are +5 in turnover differential on the season. We could be better, but I wouldn't necessarily call that "sloppy with the ball." -
Tannehill banged up going into TNF
TheBrownBear replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go conservative on offense, protect the ball and let this defense win this game for you. Do that the next two weeks and we are 7-4. -
Dolphins 5- 5.5 Point Favorites
TheBrownBear replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we could lose, but in now way do I think Miami is 5.5 points better than us (even on their turf). I'd say the Bills are a slightly better team overall. Miami is getting a ton of cred for beating NE, Chicago and San Diego when all of those teams were reeling. -
Dolphins are hurting, our key guys are actually on the mend (Watkins and FJ) and now we have the benefit of having established a couple of additional key weapons in Brown and Dixon. If we come out and smack down the Dolphins on Thursday, I like our chances of getting to 8-4 before the tough homestretch. Probably delusional, but I still think we could beat NE the last week of the season. I just hope we can get to 10-5 or 9-6 to make that one a meaningful game.

Day after sanity
TheBrownBear replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. That was the momentum changer. McKelvin's fumble was the breaking of the dam. We still scored and had momentum after Brown's fumble. It looked as if we would still close out the game until that 4th and 1 play. And let's not forget the 3rd and 16 that preceded it. Schwartz sat back in 3 man rush and that completion allowed the Chiefs the option of gambling on 4th and 1. Bring the heat with 4 or 5 guys on 3rd and the best you're probably looking at is a 7-8 yard dump off and a Chiefs punt. That really pissed me off watching that sequence in real time. -
Denver at New England GDT
TheBrownBear replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. When faced with a more talented or superior coached team, his coaches aren't devising game plans that maximize his effectiveness. (See, Jim Kelly/Marv Levy vs. Giants/Redskins/Cowboys) -
Sort of agree with you other than the fact that the eyeball test is telling me we aren't a playoff team. Guess we'll find out during the next three weeks. If we can get through November at 3-1, we'll give ourselves a puncher's chance in December.
