Wild Card Weekend: Bills at Jax - 1st Half Thread

Holy cow. They may need to bench Bortles. He looks like a combination of all of our worst qb play during the drought. -

I never understood why there are so many blocks in the back. Once you lose the angle just let them go. -

I'm okay with just protecting the ball those first two series while getting out the nerves. But now it's go time. -

Gruden to get 10 year/$100M Contract
TheBrownBear replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems ridiculous at first glance, but Gruden is a good (not great) coach, and certainly better than that bum Del Rio. They are paying for a proven commodity. It's a very talented roster and the AFC West is up for grabs for the foreseeable future. He should have them in the playoffs starting next season. -
A look at what Aaron Maybin is up to these days.

This is what sociopathy looks like folks. Also, about as tone deaf as Rod Watson's recent article. -
I'm not too worried. Even if he can't go, he should be ready for our next playoff game in 2035.

Enough's enough - This team went 9-7......
TheBrownBear replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sort of agree with the original poster's sentiment. It's nice to have the streak ended just because of the embarrassment it's caused over the past decade, but this team, from a talent and potential perspective, is arguably our worst since 2013. Just look at the point and yardage differentials. This isn't a team on a trajectory toward greatness (or even very-goodness). It's an old roster without much in the way of young playmakers. Honestly, the only guy on the team that I can see being a Pro Bowl caliber player three years from now is Tre White. I'm not all that excited or hopeful for the future. Grab a promising first round QB and I'm sure my feelings will change. Compare this with the drought-breaking 1988 squad. It seemed clear, with our young core, that it was the beginning of something special, not just a fluke. -

Zay Jones right now is a bust
TheBrownBear replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not ready to call him a bust, but it is frustrating to think that we'd be 9-5 if he'd come down with that ball in Carolina. -
1983 Monday Night Football against the Jets. Broke the record for most arrests and ejections in Rich Stadium history. https://www.upi.com/Archives/1983/10/04/Thirty-nine-people-were-arrested-and-another-375-fans-were/4885434088000/ My Dad was supposed to babysit me that night (it was shortly before my 5th birthday) while my Mom was at work. He got a call around dinnertime from my uncle saying he had two extra tickets. He knew my Mom would be furious that he took a 4 year old to a 9:00pm game, but he couldn't pass it up. Left a note on the kitchen table and off we went. I remember walking through the tunnel and seeing the bright green turf for the first time and it was almost sparkling from the lights. Stadium was absolutely packed and very rowdy. The Bills got destroyed from the start, but I fell in love with Bills football that day because of the experience. My uncle's friend was smashed before we entered the stadium. Sometime during the first half he left to use the bathroom and never came back. After the game we wandered around the stadium looking for him and we finally found him asleep on a toilet...lol. Oh yeah, Mom was pissed when we got home!!!!

Who do you want to start this week, Peterman or Taylor?
TheBrownBear replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman. Let the kid play a few games and settle in. See if he's worth keeping around as a backup. Taylor is done in Buffalo. It makes zero sense to keep playing him at this point. Sunday was his last stand and he absolutely came out firing blanks. -
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. It's really an unforgiveable disgusting act by Gronk. He basically curbstomped White and honestly could have seriously injured him (or worse). The Trevathan hit was nasty, but at least it was arguably in the course of actual gameplay. Gronk's was just a sickening cheapshot. Kermit Washington / Rudy T level stuff. Really no different than walking up to a random person on the street and punching the back of their head as hard as possible. I honestly will root for Gronk to suffer a career ending injury from this point forward. Something I've never thought or said about any player in the past.

All 3 former Bills coaches now division co-leaders

Much easier divisions. Better talent than in Buffalo. -
