  1. Mora is an idiot and not well liked by UCLA fans. If anything, Rosen has the right to trash Mora, not the other way around.
  2. I can't put too much stock in the Wonderlic when Jim Kelly scored 15, McNabb 14 and Kaepernick 38. I'm more concerned with how Jackson throws the ball and actually processes things on the field. I do believe he is doing himself a disservice by not hiring an agent, but I guess we won't truly know the answer to that until draft night.
  3. At this point, I'd be very disappointed with either Rudolph or Jackson in the first round. I'd probably prefer Jackson over Rudolph in the second-third rounds, since he has the higher ceiling. Rudolph, with his lack of arm strength, seems to be the definition of a caretaker quarterback. I have a bad feeling that the day the Jets traded into the #3 spot will go down in infamy for Bills fans.
  4. I think Kiper is right on the money. Our only hope is trading into the 4 slot. I wonder if we could sweeten the deal for the Browns by throwing in Shady to soften the blow of losing Barkley? Then they get a plug and play elite running back to pair with their new franchise QB and nice stable of young wideouts.
  5. No, and I'm a UCLA fan and like Rosen. He COULD become a hall of fame franchise QB type, but he's no sure thing. I'm okay with moving up to #6 and giving away less to grab a QB we want, but we have too many holes to sell the farm for Rosen.
  6. Reminder that no one had a clue who Sam Darnold was 3 games into the 2016 season, or hell, who Carson Wentz was at the start of 2015. There's a good chance that an elite QB prospect will emerge between now and next April.
  7. You are just looking at UCLA's overall record since Rosen has been there. UCLA was 17-13 with Rosen as a starter and 1-7 without him. How did Alabama fare without McCarron?
  8. Consider that we picked him off the scrap heap in the middle of the season. I trust the Beane can find a comparable option for same price or cheaper.
  9. My hunch is that Zay will get a slap on the wrist and end up fine in the long run. I mentioned this anecdote in another thread, but when I was in college back in the late 90's I liked to smoke a little pot now and then. I wasn't a stoner or druggie or anything like that. Just a generally responsible kid who liked to chill out 2-3x a week in the evening after studying. My dormmate, however, was THE weed dealer for all of the football and basketball players on campus, so we had a lot of different dudes running through there. He had one friend in particular, a 6'9" basketballer, who was crazy and eventually flunked out of school due to his drug habits. Unbeknownst to me, he had been in my room during the day, smoked the rest of my stash, and refilled my bag later on with wet (weed with PCP). That night, after my roommates had fallen asleep, I fired up a bowl and was going to eat a bowl of cereal and play some video games before bed. Things went bad very quickly and I had some very disturbing visual and auditory hallucinations, saw a demonic skeleton in my cereal, believed I was doomed to die and even tried to open up my ninth story window to jump out and escape. Luckily my roommates were able to calm me down and I was lucid enough to comprehend that I was having a bad trip, so they were able to keep me cool long enough for the effects to wear off. I was basically fine the next day and able to attend class, etc. It sounds funny now, but it was very terrifying at the time.
  10. True. He was in California, where you can just go to the store and grab edibles. I've given myself an extremely uncomfortable anxiety/panic attack before by ingesting an entire 150g cookie. Not fun at all. Edibles have a high potential for really adverse effects.
  11. Yep. Absolutely looks like a flakka freak out to me. He should be OK. Thankfully, he didn't kill himself or anyone else.
  12. Best wishes to Zay. I really hope this is just a one off bad reaction to something he took, and not indicative of a more serious issue. I actually had a somewhat similar, basically acute psychotic, episode in college due to unwittingly taking something that I never would have if I had known what it was. I was basically fine the next day and never had a similar issue. I hope this is sort of what Zay had happen to him and he can quickly move on from this. Either way, my thoughts are with the young man.
  13. It's strange how much some people still hate Trent Edwards. Count me among those who believe he was absolutely a different player after that hit. He was never a vertical passer, but early in his career he was very willing and able to take shots into the intermediate part of the field. He was a West Coast Offense player and got the ball out quick, generally speaking, but that doesn't mean checking down. Something clearly got screwed up with his ability to process what was in front of him after that game. Watch film of the games leading up to the hit and then watch the game he played against the Monday night game he played against the Browns later that season. He clearly lost his ability to process what was in front of him. After that Browns game, I knew his career was finished. He played some statistically good games after that, but he never looked the same. He looked timid, fragile and lost.
  14. Yeah, I'm left wondering the same. He seemed to really regress last year. I don't see much at all. USC was a stacked preseason top-5 team and he could only lead them to a 3 loss season? Josh Rosen averaged over 380 yard/games in games that he started and finished. And that's with one of the worst o-line and receiving groups in the country.
  15. This makes absolutely zero sense.
  16. Big Ben was selected at pick #11. Let's all chill out and see how this plays out.
  17. It seems we are totally locked out of the franchise altering QB race. What do the QB prospects look like for next year? Any chance we trade back now and accumulate picks for another run next year?
  18. I like how he intimates that Josh Rosen may like to use cocaine since he is rich. I follow UCLA football intensely and that's the first time I've heard that rumor.
  19. No offense, but this "expert" seems like an unhinged idiot. Loses all credibility calling Rosen a mid-4th round talent.
  20. I don't get those who are criticizing him. He needs a carrot to drive him forward in his rehab. And football is that carrot. Don't worry. He will never play again. No chance.
  21. I'm a UCLA alumnus and this was the biggest problem with his game. He'll throw some absolute head scratchers under pressure. If you give him a clean pocket, there isn't a better passer at the college level. He's one of the best pure passers to come out in quite awhile.
  22. McCarron, imo. Younger, cheaper, better measureables and a better/more refined thrower from the pocket. A "bridge" guy is someone you throw out there not to lose you a game. Execute the gameplan and hit the easy throws. I think either of these two can do that, but as stated above, McCarron is younger and cheaper.
  23. I absolutely believe the plan is to move into the top-5 and draft a qb. It seems pretty clear after the Tyrod and Glenn trades and our focus on D in FA. However, I could see come scenario where the asking price to get into the top-5 is deemed to be just too high, or there's a couple of surprise picks in the first 4 that causes our qb targets to drop and we sit around and grab a Baker Mayfield or Mason Rudolph further down in the first round.
  24. Uh oh! Does that mean we have illiterate monkeys running the team?
  25. Good signing. Has some experience. Seems like a very solid backup who can start in a pinch.
