  1. Pats Struggle to Explain Using Gronk on Last Play It's a question that will linger over the New England Patriots for the next several days: Why was Rob Gronkowski on the field for the final play in the Miami Miracle? The massive tight end is usually part of the Hail Mary defense to utilize his height and bat the ball down. But with the Dolphins having the ball at their own 31-yard line, a Hail Mary was unlikely. "We knew what was going to go down. They're too far to throw a Hail Mary, so we knew it was going to be a lateral situation," safety Duron Harmon admitted after the 34-33 loss, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. "I knew it wasn't going to be a Hail Mary. He would have had to throw the ball pretty far to reach the end zone," added safety Devin McCourty. The reality that the Dolphins would need a lateral miracle to win leads to the question why Gronkowski was on the field instead of a speedier player who could run down a ball carrier.
  2. Sounds good theoretically, but the team won't intentionally lose.
  3. The All-22 Coaches Film via GamePass is now available for this week. It'll be another interesting look at some of the things Josh Allen was looking at throughout the game.
  4. Snacks gets to feast on the interior of the Bills' OL this week unless they devise something to handle him. Get to work Juan.
  5. 12-10: Kyle Williams on WGR (10:52) Williams on the hit on Hauschka - When a guy's not looking at you, especially a specialist, it's a cheap shot for sure. #Bills Williams on the hit on Hauschka - At the end of the day that can be called a personal foul, so you try to teach guys to stay away from that hit. #Bills Williams on Darnold's scramble & TD pass - You have to give him credit, he made a play and we didn't when we had a chance. #Bills Williams - If you can find a silver lining, the young guys had an opportunity to go out and put it on the line, and can now finish the season strong. #Bills 12-10: Sean McDermott on WGR (12:36) McDermott on Allen fumble - We work it in practice. Taking care of the ball is important. Sometimes you can get away with stuff in college up big at the half, but games come down to the wire in the NFL. #Bills McDermott on Allen - The NFL is different than college. He's seen that now, as has Tremaine. You see some guys that don't take the next step in their second year, & there are some that do. This will be a very important offseason. #Bills McDermott on Allen running - You have to defend everyone on the perimeter and the quarterback. Whether it's zone reads, or QB designed runs, or him scrambling, those are hard to defend. #Bills
  6. Quick Hits: Making up for the loss of Matt Milano The Bills lost one of their top playmakers on defense Sunday when Matt Milano suffered a broken fibula that required surgery on Monday. Replacing him as a three-down player won’t be easy for the team’s final three games. “The good part is Matt did a really good job. I thought he really grew this year. We’ll miss him. We look forward to getting him back in the offseason,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “(Replacing him) will be by committee. We’re still working through that. We’ve got certainly Lorenzo (Alexander) could fill that role and some other guys with respect to Deon (Lacey) and Corey (Thompson) and potentially Julian (Stanford). So we’re still going to work through that.” McCoy and Ivory are day to day LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory were two other casualties in Sunday’s loss to the Jets. McCoy left the game after just a few plays with a hamstring injury. Chris Ivory left in the second half with a shoulder injury after landing on it with all his body weight at the end of a running play. Both are listed as day-to-day.
  7. Broken fibula. Out for the season.
  8. The annual preseason tilt against the Lions has ended.
  9. A lot longer than that. 1960's.
  10. They have. How long have you been a Bills' fan?
  11. I wish he was the youngest player to make a TD saving tackle behind the LOS to stop a game winning score.
  12. He needs a complete complement of weapons as well as a functional OL to help him along with his own individual improvement as a QB.
  13. In Buffalo it's the Chilly Special.
