  1. Top 7 storylines for Bills-Texans this week It’s game two of Buffalo’s three-game jaunt through the AFC South. The Bills head to Houston this week to take on the Texans, another AFC team with two wins in their first five games. It’s the ninth all time meeting between these two—each team has won four games in the series. Here are the top seven storylines to follow this week: 1. ANOTHER ROAD TEST FOR JOSH ALLEN 2. CAN THE OFFENSE RELY ON STRONG RUNNING GAME NOW? 3. TEXANS HAVE QB HEALTH QUESTIONS THIS WEEK 4. TRE’S TOUGHEST TEST TO DATE 5. WHICH DEFENSIVE ROOKIE STEPS UP NEXT? 6. FINDING ANSWERS FOR WATT AND CLOWNEY? 7. DABOLL VS CRENNEL
  2. This is already a problem with McCoy on the team.
  3. 12 - MONTEZ SWEAT Defensive Lineman, Mississippi State The Buffalo Bills have been the most confusing team in the NFL this season, as they look like a team that should go 0-16 one week, and then beat a playoff team from last season in the next. They may have found the answer in quarterback Josh Allen, who they took in the first round in 2018, as he has shown he is not afraid to get the yardage on the ground, or stand in the pocket and take a hit. The problem is, you never want you quarterback to take too many hits, but that has been the case this season, as the offensive line is suspect. They need to focus on making that a priority next offseason, but they need some veteran leadership in the group, and should spend money on some proven players in the NFL. Up front on the other side of the ball is also an issue in Buffalo, although the defense has shown flashes of brilliance in their two wins this season. One player who could really help them is Montez Sweat from Mississippi State, who can play in the middle of the defensive line, but also is athletic enough to go on the outside and try to get the edge in certain spots. This Bills teams is building from within, and they have a defensive-minded coach in Sean McDermott. They have shown that they can go in and beat the likes of the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings, two teams that should challenge to make the playoffs this season, but until they can play consistently, they will be picking in the first half of the first round next April.
  4. From the Athletic - Subscription Required for Full Access: What I learned from Watching All of Deshaun Watson's Career Red Zone Plays Regression is a harsh mistress. Everyone knew Deshaun Watson’s passing statistics in his six-game sample from 2017 were going to be less impressive this season than 13 red zone touchdowns and two interceptions. The key question is how much will Watson regress. Through five games, it’s hard to call the red zone numbers Houston has put up anything but alarming. The Texans have made 22 trips to the red zone in 2018, the third-most of any NFL team. They’ve scored a touchdown just eight times. That’s second-worst in the league, ahead of only the New York Jets. As far as the pure raw numbers, here’s how the Texans have looked from 2017 to 2018.
  5. Khalil Mack also drops into coverage from time to time. WTH are the Bears thinking?!?
  6. 10-10: Sabres' Goalie Carter Hutton on WGR (6:46) #Sabres goalie Carter Hutton (@CarterHutton) joins Jeremy and Sal next on WGR! Tune in: Hutton - It's always nice to start at home, you can get in a groove with the fans. Getting a few wins and some points help before we head out on the road. #Sabres Hutton - I think we're taking some good steps here early on. It's a hard league to play in. At this point with the young guys, they're learning what they can get away with early in the season. #Sabres Hutton - We can't overthink things, can't let things snowball on us. We can't try to do too many things. I try to bring my personality every day, and we have guys who are bringing the right message every day. #Sabres Hutton - Dahlin is pretty skilled, but he's just getting used to the league. It's impressive that he's already playing in the NHL. I just want to do my best to share information with some of the young kids on the blue line and in goal. #Sabres Hutton - A lot of what he does is impressive, and he'll learn what he can and can't get away with in the NHL. What he's doing right now as an 18-year-old is incredible. He has a bright future ahead of him. #Sabres Hutton - Eichel is incredible with the puck, his skating is effortless. As a leader, he's done a great job here. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he's the hardest working player. He's done a great job taking over the captaincy, leading by example. #Sabres
  7. To the contrary, Zone Blitzes are an effective change up in an overall defensive game plan when utilized properly. DCs have to vary how they play against opposing offenses.
