The Rosen Era Has Begun in Arizona

So what. I want Allen to succeed, but that does not mean his growth curve has lessened. He has a long way to go. -

I have said repeatedly in multiple threads that Allen was put in a bad situation with a poor supporting cast, but that doesn't excuse the areas that he needs to show growth in. Same goes for Rosen, who didn't play well last night with some poor throws and ball security issues. -
NFL Week 7: Previews and Analysis of Each Sunday Game by Andy Benoit 2 hours ago BILLS AT COLTS, 1:00 P.M., CBS Bills 35-year-old defensive tackle Kyle Williams is still terrific. He has lost some of his initial burst, but effort, technique and physical strength allow him to make plays later in the down. Williams will have a chance to make many on Sunday, as Colts rookie left guard Quenton Nelson has struggled against crafty pass rushers.

Cardinals’ Dreadful Loss to Broncos isn’t Josh Rosen’s Fault By CONOR ORR October 18, 2018 It’s a shame to think about the number of talented quarterbacks who were drafted onto bad teams with bad offenses, who then floundered and had to shoulder the psychological weight of a “bust” label that was not entirely their fault for the rest of their lives. When a young quarterback is in a situation with no hope, no respite in sight, it’s easy to spot. Josh Rosen was there Thursday night amid a 45–10 loss where he was intercepted three times (two went back for touchdowns), and sacked six times. The Cardinals have been there all season. Arizona came into a prime time game against the Broncos ranked last in yards per game, second to last in points per game and last in third down percentage (22%). The team did not successfully convert a third down until the 9:57 minute mark of the third quarter against Denver. While the trappings of a disaster game were present early with the fluke tipped pass, intercepted and returned for a touchdown, this was a game that may have been over before kickoff. A spin through Rosen film this year shows so many doomed concepts. Sure, there is the jet sweep tossed in for modernity, but the offense looks like something straight out of 1999 (and not the good parts of 1999 that Jon Gruden spent all offseason rhapsodizing about). So few of Rosen’s plays have any diverging action, or something to take the pressure off the focus of the play. There is almost never the mouth-agape, wide-open pass. Anything that isn’t a simplistic, muddled slant over the middle seems like a forever-developing deep route that would almost assure Rosen on his backside by the time it was finished. -
7 Things to Watch in Bills-Colts this Weekend It’s the welcome end to Buffalo’s brutal stretch of five road games in the first seven games this year. The Bills rough start this year has partly been a product of games away from home and tough opponents. Buffalo has the fourth toughest strength of schedule played so far this year, based on current records. This week may provide a respite—the Indianapolis Colts have started the season 1-5. Here are some of the issues for Bills fans to keep an eye on this weekend: 1. THE TEAM’S THE THING 2. TEAM BUILDING 3. COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE 4. HALL OF FAMER ON THE FIELD IN INDY 5. THIRD DOWN DISCREPANCY 6. UNDER THE YELLOW 7. LONDON CALLING—AGAIN

The Rosen Era Has Begun in Arizona

The last couple of weeks the Bills' OL has actually been decent and there have been plays to be made in the passing game. Allen was misdiagnosing too many of them. Not unexpected given how much he has to learn. I'm hoping he reads and decides faster after his time watching Anderson. -
The Buffalo Bills, now 2-4 on the season, head back on the road one more time -- only this time without rookie quarterback Josh Allen steering the ship on offense. Instead, it will be Derek Anderson -- the 35-year-old longtime backup quarterback, who will have exactly six practices under his belt by the time the game is here. What might the offense look like with him, and do they have a chance at a win? Also, Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn discuss Josh Allen and the area of his game, through five games, that needs the most refinement. Not to mention, a Bills-Colts prediction!

That's going to take a while with him still having room to grow in pre and post snap diagnosis among other areas. -

Great point. It shouldn't. No QB was going to look good palying behind that line against Denver last night. Allen is on his own path irrespective of what's happening with Rosen, Mayfield, and Darnold. -

Feel better now? Don't box score scout. Look at the cut ups of what he did in the game. He passed for about 240 yards last week, but he wasn't as good as in the 1st start. Stat lines don't tell everything. -

To the contrary, his 1st game was very good. -

How about his OL had Iupati and Pugh at Guard to give him some time in the pocket. This is really all about a reflexive defense mechanism by fans to protect Allen. -

Where were all of the comments after the 1st start of his career? It was pretty silent in here. -
Cardinals Fire Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy Mike McCoy's short tenure as offensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals is over. Less than a day after the Cardinals suffered a 45-10 loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, Arizona fired McCoy following his seven-game stint with the team, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, per a source. The team later made the news official. Quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich is the new coordinator and play-caller, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. McCoy has been fired three times over the last 22 months by three different NFL teams. The Chargersfired him as their head coach after the 2016 season and he was lost his job as the Broncos OC in November 2017. McCoy is the second coordinator to be fired in less than a week -- the Tampa Bay Buccaneers parted ways with defensive coordinator Mike Smith on Tuesday. Whether McCoy's dismissal will change the Cardinals' fortunes remain to be seen. Rosen remains very much a work in progress, and head coach Steve Wilks bears the bulk of the responsibility for the team's poor start. With only one win through seven games, there's a good chance Wilks could be one and done in the desert. Around The NFL will have more on McCoy's firing soon.
