  1. Sharpen Up: October 26, 2018 The Sabres rallied back three different times last night to beat the Montreal Canadiens in dramatic fashion. Kyle Okposoripped a shot from the point with 1:01 left in the third period that beat Antti Niemi and gave Buffalo a 4-3 victory on home ice. Jason Pominville scored twice and Sam Reinhart tallied his first of the season as the Sabres are now winners of three games in a row. Here's what you need to know.

  3. Here are the steps in the NFL's Return to Practice Protocol 1. Rest and recovery The first step in his recovery will be rest "until his signs and symptoms and neurologic examination, including cognitive and balance tests, return to baseline status." Neurological testing can be introduced at any point during the first three steps in the process. 2. Light aerobic exercise This is conducted under the oversight of the team medical staff and can include cardio, stretching and balance training. 3. Continued aerobic exercise and strength training These activities may "mimic sport-specific activities. 4. Football-specific activities These activities are non-contact and can include throwing, catching, running, etc. 5. Full football activity Once the player has been cleared by the team physician and neurological consultant, he can participate in practice and games. If a player exhibits reoccurring signs of the concussion during any point in the process, they return to the prior step. McCcoy is at stage 4 as of yesterday.
  4. Getting to Know Quarterback Derek Anderson and the Bills Offense | CLNS Media By Evan Lazar FOXBORO — As the Patriots turn the page to the Buffalo Bills (2-5) this week they’ll face another starting quarterback for their divisional foes. Since Tom Brady arrived in New England in 2000, the Bills have started 12 different quarterbacks against the Patriots, and 14-year veteran Derek Anderson will be number 13 on Monday night. Anderson, signed with the Bills on October 9th to backup rookie Josh Allen, and has appeared in one game for Buffalo starting last week’s loss to the Colts. “He’s been in the league. We saw him at Carolina, saw him at Cleveland. I mean, there’s plenty of film on him,” said head coach Bill Belichick at his Wednesday press conference. The coach then added, “I’m sure there will be some things that we’re not preparing for that they’ll do with him that may be different than what they did with [Josh] Allen.” Last week, the Buffalo offense struggled mightily, scoring only three points and turned the ball over five times, four of which were on Anderson as he threw three interceptions and lost a fumble.
  5. Sabres' Bogosian is Healthy Again and Thriving Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - I’ve been saying this since last season ended that we really don’t know what the Sabres have in Zach Bogosian because he hadn’t played one game here healthy. I think we got a glimpse of a healthy Bogosian in San Jose, Anaheim, Los Angeles and now here in Buffalo. In just five games Bogosian, Jake McCabe and Rasmus Ristolainen leads the team in blocks shots with 16 and fights with three. He also played fast and added a goal and an assist. Bogosian is happy and relieved to be healthy, “Yes, I feel good. I think it took me a couple of games to catch up to the game speed, but it just feels nice to be out there playing games again that’s for sure.”

It was the first time Buffalo has accomplished this feat since Jan. 24, 2017, in a 5-4 win at Nashville. The Sabres have had each of their last 23 games settled in regulation, dating back to March 15 vs. Toronto. It’s the team’s longest stretch of games that were not tied after 60 minutes since they played 30 in a row from Nov. 10, 1979 to Jan. 16, 1980. Jason Pominville scored two goals tonight, recording his 27th career multi-goal game and his first since Oct. 12, 2017 at San Jose. Pominville’s second goal was his 497th point as a member of the Sabres, tying Thomas Vanek to rank 10th in franchise history. The goal also tied Pominville with Dale Hawerchuk for 14th on the team’s all-time leader board in power-play goals (48). Jake McCabe notched two assists tonight and now has five points (1+4) in his last five games, marking the best five-game stretch of his career. With three assists, Jeff Skinner extended his point streak to five games (4+4).
