Good to see Wallace get a chance, but the secondary didn't face much of a challenge in the NYJ passing offense yesterday with Robbie Anderson out and the Bills' DL pressuring McCown all game long. Attribute the call ups to a thin roster.

3-7 in 14th place in the AFC. Play Allen.

Hot hand? One game does not qualify as a hot hand from my vantage point. Play Barkley for what purpose? Playoff race or future of the franchise? It's neither of these. What pressure is on Allen with the Bills sitting at 3-7? None. He needs to gain as much valuable experience as possible this season.

From Peter King's FMIA Column: Matt’s moment. I always found Matt Barkley to be an earnest team guy, not quite good enough to hang onto an NFL roster spot. And if he never has another day like Sunday—the 41-10 rout of the Jets that left him grinning from ear to ear 45 minutes after the game—they can never take away from him the fact that he started in a big-league game and won decisively under ridiculous circumstances. Those circumstances: Barkley had been a Bill for only 11 days before Sunday, and hadn’t played in the league for almost two calendar years. “I knew that I can play in this league,” Barkley said. “I feel like I was made to play football and this was just an example of doing what I was made to do.” Buffalo has its bye this week. There’s no reason to hurry Josh Allen back from his elbow injury in this lost (3-7) season. I’d see if Barkley has one more gem in him when the Bills return home in 13 days to play Jacksonville. Buffalo fans would shower love on Barkley if he starts. Offensive Players of the Week Matt Barkley, quarterback, Buffalo. It’s weird to even type those words. “Matt Barkley, quarterback, Buffalo.” Barkley was gone. His NFL career was kaput. The only reason he started Sunday was because of injuries to the 1 (Josh Allen) and 2 (Derek Anderson), and the badness of the 3 (Nathan Peterman). Quarterbacks will have better days than Barkley (15 of 25, 232 yards, two TDs, one interception), but there won’t be many who win a road game with a heretofore hopeless offense after being on the team for less than two weeks.

At 2-7, Beane knows their is frustration and disappointment with the performance of the team, but believes the Bills can turn things around.

NFL Playoff Picture 2019: Saints firmly establish themselves as NFL's best team, eyeing No. 1 seed The Saints' home loss to the Buccaneers -- a 48-40 Tampa Bay win in Week 1 -- feels like it happened four million years ago. Somehow under Sean Payton and with Drew Brees, the Saints just haven't been very good to start the season. For several years it extended beyond the first two weeks of the season, but in the last two years, the Saints have started clicking right around Week 4 and just go absolutely nuclear. It's happening right now, and the latest installment of Payton's Destroy the World Tour landed in Cincinnati, with the Saints going scorched earth on the Bengals in a game that clearly demonstrated the gap between a very good team and a pretty good team in the NFL. It's chasmic.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Matt Barkley stunningly sparked Buffalo's bumbling offense with two touchdown passes, including one to offensive tackle Dion Dawkins. LeSean McCoy broke out of a season-long slump with 113 yards rushing and a pair of TD runs, and the Bills embarrassed the New York Jets 41-10 on Sunday. Barkley made his first start in nearly two years, and looked the best of any of the four quarterbacks the Bills (3-7) have trotted out this season. The 28-year-old journeyman was 15 of 25 for 232 yards while helping Buffalo snap a four-game losing streak as the Bills put up 451 yards of total offense. Barkley got the nod from coach Sean McDermott ahead of the ineffective Nathan Peterman despite having just two weeks of practice with the Bills since signing on Oct. 30. Rookie Josh Allen has missed four straight games with a sprained right elbow, and Derek Anderson is sidelined with a concussion. Barkley's last start came in the 2016 season finale for Chicago.

The trade deadline has passed, but even if it hadn't he has no trade value.
