Derek Anderson must have really gotten walloped

Might be, but other injuries are very much discussed by teams including the expected to time recover. -
Where do you come up with this salacious crap?

Whether he's cleared or not, Allen is ready to take over. There is no reason for any conspiracy with every concussion being different in terms of severity/recovery time. -
WINNIPEG — When Casey Mittelstadt left for the first time, his parents, Tom and Dede, would make frequent trips to Green Bay from the family's home in Minnesota to check on their oldest son. When Mittelstadt's hockey journey brought him to Buffalo for his first NHL training camp in August, again, his parents made the trip to make sure their 19-year-old son was settled. The couple has continued to attend Sabres games during Mittelstadt's rookie season, beginning with the season opener and even last weekend when the Vancouver Canucks were at KeyBank Center. The Mittelstadts' next hockey pilgrimage is much closer to home, and this time they'll be accompanied by dozens of family and friends. Five days before his 20th birthday, Mittlestadt will play his first NHL game near his hometown Saturday night, when the Sabres face the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center. Drafted eighth overall by Buffalo in 2017, Mittelstadt grew up in Eden Prairie — 30 miles southwest of Minneapolis — and played one season at the University of Minnesota before beginning his pro career. Now, the Sabres center will return to the same sheet of ice where he played his final high school hockey game, a 3-2 loss in the state semifinals, just 20 months ago. "It should be exciting, I think," Mittelstadt told The Buffalo News. "I haven’t seen a lot of those people since I’ve been to Buffalo in August. It will be fun to see them, see all my buddies from home. They’re all going to be there. That will be the best part, I think, and hopefully we can get a win."

2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
26CornerBlitz replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
Looking into the offensive tackle class for the 2019 NFL Draft, there’s one that really stands out. That player is Jonah Williams from Alabama. It’s clear that he’s the top offensive tackle and rightfully so; he’s a technician — the technician. During the beginning weeks of college football, I noticed that Greg Little was getting some buzz as one of the best offensive tackles in this class. There’s no denying that the Ole Miss product is talented, but he’s not as consistent as Jonah Williams. Coming out of Folsom High School in Folsom, California, Jonah Williams was a five-star recruit. According to 24/7 Sports, he had 26 offers. Listed as the 17th-ranked recruit in the country, Williams had a plethora of options and ultimately chose Alabama. Since his early arrival to Tuscaloosa, Williams has gotten his fair share of hype. From Freshman All-American to first team All-SEC, Williams has lived up to it. When he arrived, he earned a starting role at right tackle and held that position down for two years. This season, he made the transition to left tackle. Sometimes it’s tough for an offensive lineman to make that transition. For others, it looks effortless. Let’s take a look at some film on Jonah Williams and see how The Technician operates: -

Don't Judge Le'Veon Yet: How Bell Could Change Old NFL Thinking Dan Graziano, ESPN Staff Writer Think what you will about Le'Veon Bell's decision to sit out the season in pursuit of free-agent riches, but the key word there is "think." It's tempting right now to retreat to your corner and settle into some insta-conclusion supported by decades of old, established NFL thinking: Bell's crazy. He overplayed his hand. He'll never get what he's looking for. He quit on his team. The Steelers are doing just fine without him. It's silly to pay running backs. The facts are that this thing isn't over yet, that we can't see the future, and that no final conclusions about Bell's gambit can be made until March, when we find out what kind of free-agent contract he ends up getting. If he gets a Todd Gurley-style megadeal, then this was all worth it. But if he has to take a one-year, "prove-it" deal because not enough teams are interested, then this was a huge mistake. We don't and can't know the outcome yet.

Sounds like a losing team mentality to look for an excuse to not draft great players. Applewhite himself realizes it was no big deal. -

Classic example of making a mountain out of a molehill. -
Coming into the league he was advertised as being NFL ready for a number of reasons that proved to be false. It was also the zealousness of some Bills fans despite ample evidence to the contrary as you say that led to over the top defense of him. Nonetheless he's an embarrassingly bad QB at the NFL level based on his on-field performances. That's what made him the butt of jokes and ridicule and nothing more. Anyone who argues anyhting to the contrary is delusional.
