  1. Gross miscalculation that they can't run from since they knew him from Carolina unlike the swing and miss they took on Coleman.
  2. Defense aside, the neglect at the WR position until mid to late in the season was a miscalculation that you're trying to excuse.
  3. Cap room? They spent good money on Star and Trent Murphy in addition to using 4 of the top 5 draft picks on defense. You're making excuses.
  4. Wesseling: Tom Brady no longer a top-five 'old' QB 6) Tom Brady, 41, New England Patriots After topping the charts in touchdowns, TD:INT ratio and passer rating in a three-year span from 2015 to 2017, Brady ranks 15th, 12th and 17th in those categories, respectively, this season. Those are the numbers. What does the film show? My colleague Gregg Rosenthal's QB Index, which grades every throw by every passer, placed Brady at the top in each of the past two seasons. Through 11 weeks of the 2018 season, 10 QBs rank higher than the reigning MVP. Brady deserves the utmost respect for obsessively training to reverse the effects of typical decline, improbably turning pocket movement from a weakness to a strength as he approached the age-40 barrier. For the first time since his mid-30s, though, his ability to throw from a muddy pocket is regressing. Self-preservation is a powerful instinct, ultimately toppling fearsome linebackers as well as pretty-boy passers. Brady has been flinching to protect himself, turning his back and shoulders to oncoming pass rushers and letting balls sail off-target. He struggles to throw with authority and consistency outside the numbers and downfield, too often seeing his passes nosedive at the catch point. For compensation purposes, the Patriots' offense is more reliant than ever upon smoke and mirrors. To be clear, none of this is brand new. It's just that the ratio of poor plays to positive plays is gradually increasing. In fact, one source has Brady with the highest rate of off-target throws this season. One of the fiercest competitors ever to play the position, Brady has made a career out of slaying dragons. This isn't a 2015 Peyton Manning situation, where the quarterback is an albatross in danger of losing his job to keep the Super Bowl contender afloat. If Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel stay healthy and the offensive line keeps the pressure at bay, nobody should be surprised if the legend who has spent an entire career bending the two-minute drill to his indomitable will finds himself back where he belongs -- in the AFC title game.
  5. They didn't because it wasn't enough of a priority. That's on them.
  6. Beane discussed the subject yesterday on One Bills Live:
  7. Setting the Table for Thanksgiving Day NFL Games CHICAGO BEARS (7–3) @ DETROIT LIONS (4–6) Bears offense vs. Lions defense When these teams met just over a week ago, the Bears frequently aligned in a formation some call “speed trips,” with three wide receivers to one side of the field and athletic tight end Trey Burton by himself on the other. From there the Bears shrewdly isolated individual Lions defenders and featured intertwined routes that complicated Detroit’s man coverages. Look for this formation again on Thursday, and look for the usual heavy dosage of misdirection concepts involving Tarik Cohen. Detroit’s second-year linebacker Jarrad Davis has scintillating talent but isn’t always comfortable processing information. Lions offense vs. Bears defense When Detroit has struggled this November, it’s been against quality zone defenses. The Bears, with their blurry, deceptive two-deep safety looks, are one of football’s best zone units. Strong coverage was behind many of their six sacks on Stafford in Week 10. The Lions will try to get the ball out quickly and over the middle, where Stafford can deal with Chicago’s linebackers instead of safeties. That means a prominent role for injured Kerryon Johnson’s replacement Theo Riddick, who has returned to the backfield after a two-week trial in the slot following the Golden Tate trade. Prediction: Lions 24, Bears 20 (an atrociously unfair short week schedule for the Bears, who played the latest game last Sunday and now travel to play the earliest game on Thursday.)
  8. Josh Allen Development Camp Opens as Bills Begin Closing Stretch Mike Rodak - ESPN Staff Writer ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Matt Barkley led the Buffalo Bills' offense to its most prolific first half in 19 seasons, but his performance in a Nov. 11 victory over the New York Jets bowed to the franchise's need to develop Josh Allen when coach Sean McDermott decided to start his rookie at quarterback on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Barring further injury, Allen will return from his sprained right elbow to presumably start the remaining six games of the regular season. The playoffs are no longer a realistic possibility for the Bills, who at 3-7 have a 0.3 percent chance to return to the postseason, according to ESPN's Football Power Index. Welcome to the Josh Allen development camp. The stage is set for Allen to take a step forward in the final six weeks of the season, which would inject optimism into the upcoming offseason. The Bills have the NFL's easiest remaining schedule, according to ESPN FPI, and still have four home games to play. Their Dec. 23 trip to New England is their only contest against a team currently with a winning record, and the best defense Buffalo will face after Sunday is the Jets unit they shredded for 41 points before their bye week. Clearly, Allen must greatly improve in order to become a viable long-term starter in the NFL. Here are some particular areas where Allen could benefit during his upcoming development camp: 1. Perform under pressure 2. Refine relationship with Zay Jones 3. Protect his body
  9. Week 12 predictions: Who will feast on Turkey Day? THURSDAY, NOV. 22 Detroit Lions 24, Chicago Bears 22 12:30 p.m. ET (CBS) | Ford Field (Detroit) This is a dangerous matchup for the Bears, who are humming right now. Going into Detroit on a short week will be at least as difficult as -- if not moredifficult than -- hosting the Vikings last week. Couple that with the fact that Chicago is in line to start Chase Daniel, who at best squeezed in a few walkthroughs before flying out to face a division rival, and you can clearly see the uphill challenge facing Matt Nagy and staff. The Lions played at home Sunday, snapping a three-game losing streak by building an early lead over the Panthers with balanced offense and holding on late. Unfortunately for Detroit, with Kerryon Johnson (knee sprain) out, Chicago's pass rush won't have to hesitate on its way to the pocket. The Bears have already posted 32 sacks (tied for fifth in the NFL). Was feeling a Bears road win, but Matthew Stafford has played well since that opening Monday night disaster ... except for two weeks ago against the Bears. The advantage over Daniel is too much. Thus, I'm taking Detroit at home.
  10. He would be a great find if he pans out. It was nice to see improvement from the earlier stint on the 53.
  11. Tate isn't even on the team anymore as he was traded to the Eagles. Jones is their best receiving threat.
  12. We'll see how well the Lions handle the Bears' D without Marvin Jones and Kerryon Johnson in the lineup.
  13. They are still packing that defense with Mack and the Lions are missing key starters.
