  1. 11 Buffalo Bills Rashan Gary DE Michigan Analysis: Gary is great value, has a terrific upside and adds impact and youth to the Bills defensive line.
  2. McDermott's Friday Presser at 11:20 AM ET today followed by practice at 12:20. Will post live Twitter and Facebook presser links as they become available: Buffalo Bills Video Live
  3. 5. Buffalo Bills Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama. The Bills need to build a sturdy offensive line around Josh Allen, especially considering his field-stretching arm and the vast vertical elements in Buffalo's offensive scheme. Williams is the best blocker in the draft and began his career at Alabama on the right side. He starts at right tackle for Buffalo as a rookie.
  4. SABRES RECALL TENNYSON, WEDGEWOOD BUFFALO, N.Y. (December 7, 2018) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Matt Tennyson and goaltender Scott Wedgewood from the Rochester Americans (AHL).
  5. That often doesn't matter with many hiring decisions based on relationships rather than merit.
  6. Plenty of positions are offered via back channel communications through agents. This applies to front office execs, coaches, and players. Surely you know this.
  7. McCarthy Addressed Players, Coaches After Firing The Green Bay Packers moved on from Mike McCarthy but didn't banish the former coach from the facility. Interim coach Joe Philbin said the team allowed McCarthy to address the team on Wednesday. Team president Mark Murphy, manager Brian Gutekunst, director of football operations Russ Ball and Philbin also permitted McCarthy to speak to the coaching staff on Tuesday. "We all saw him as a staff, which was great," Philbin said Thursday, via ESPN. "Then we talked, and he wanted an opportunity to speak with the team. I was 100 percent, fully supportive of [it], and he did a fantastic job talking to the team. Not just about football and winning football games, but his passion. His passion for the game, his love for the players was clearly evident. I'm sure it was emotional for him and everybody in the room. It was awesome. I thought he did a great job." It's unusual for a team to allow a fired coach to address his former players and staff, but the Packers thought it would bring some closure after McCarthy led the Packers for 13 years. "He spoke to the team yesterday and that was good," Murphy said on WTMJ radio. "I think Mike wanted some closure with the players and some of the other coaches to be able to thank them and say goodbye to them as well."
  8. NFL Analyst Mayock Examines Josh Allen, Sam Darnold With the matchup between two top-10 draft picks on tap for this Sunday, several analysts are exploring how the rookies have progressed this year. The matchup between Buffalo’s Josh Allen and New York’s Sam Darnold is a storyline that will garner some national attention, even though the Bills and Jets are each rounding out their respective 2018 campaigns without postseason participation in sight. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock shared some of his thoughts on Allen in particular with the team’s website. For the national analyst, Allen’s progress has been on par with what he expected. “For me, it’s as advertised. I think the thing we’ve seen recently with him, that’s helped the team out and given the kid a little bit of a platform is he’s kind of taken charge with his run game. Obviously, you always want the ability to extend plays and to make plays with your legs.” Mayock said. He also added how Allen’s progress on the ground has been one for the record books, something that maybe wasn’t predicted back in April. “The last couple of weeks what he has done running the football has been historic. He’s got to learn to win inside the pocket. That’s his biggest challenge. Then he can take advantage of his athletic ability outside the pocket when warranted,” Mayock said.
