  1. Please, for all that is right, please, please take Newton.
  2. No, your advice is still not "generally correct now". You are over simplifying what was a complex problem. Wolford was only 1 piece of the problem at the time. Would be a nice recollection except the Bills signed Glenn Parker (the starting RG at the time) to an extension which made him the highest paid OL during the same off season (and prior to Wolford leaving for Indy). Seems kind of dubious to say the were playing hard ball with Wolford because they were afraid of escalating salaries along the OL, when in reality they were willing to (and did) make their RG the teams highest paid OL. I hate to disagree with you, but if anybody is looking at the Wolford situation with a limited view, it's you. Your hindsight "analysis" of the situation is it at best questionable and at worst, comical. Your "analysis" ignores the reality and circumstances surrounding the team at that time. 1993 was the first year of free agency as we know it today. - The Bills had 11 players qualifying for free agency including Wolford, Jeff Wright, and Shane Conlan. - The transition tag not only allowed the Bills to match any offer, it also meant the Bills had to offer and pay Wolford 120% of his old contract or the average of the 10 highest paid players at that position (which ever was highest). 1993 was also the first year of the salary cap (34 million if IIRC). - Kelly was being paid 3+ million a year alone. (stop and think about that. 1 player is eating up 10% of the available cap) - Thurman, Bruce, and Bennett were also receiving very sizable salaries during this time period. - Penalties for surpassing the salary cap included fines, suspension of players, loss of players, and/or loss of draft picks (but the decision making was all about business, right?) Glenn Parker was made the teams highest paid OL John Butler was the GM (if Butler was known for anything, he wasn't shy about spending money on players) The reason the Bills were contesting the Colts offer was due to the "poison pill". If it wasn't for that clause, the Bills would have matched the Colts offer. FYI: Because of Wolford's contract, the following year, the NFL banned those types of contracts (the overall financial payout had to be the same for both teams)
  3. They did. His name was John Fina. Hindsight tells us Fina was no where near as good as Wolford, but that's why its called hindsight. In 1993, such hindsight was not available to the Bills. And after every draft, I hear a similar argument from the people who say the Bills should have traded down. It's just that simple and easy, right? About the only thing we agree on. I take it you are making assumptions these guys will be good. I wonder how these guys will be viewed with hindsight 10 to 15 years from now.
  4. Sorry, but that is complete BS. The Bills slapped Wolford with the transition tag, meaning the Bills could match any offer Wolford accepted. The Colts offered Wolford a contract that contained a "poison pill", making it virtually impossible for the Bills to match the offer. When the Bills lost in arbitration (yes, they even tried to get the Colts offer declared illegal), they had no choice but to let Wolford go. My link
  5. Numerous draft "gurus" in here would disagree.
  6. He wasn't the first off the board last year. What makes you think he would be first this year? Quite frankly, if I had to choose between Newton or Tebow, I would probably take a gamble on Newton.
  7. This belongs in the "All Newton all the time" thread pinned at the top. Try reading and searching before posting.
  8. If true, it would seem what he said, she said were the same thing.
  9. For me, college and pro are two different things. I carry no animosity from one level to the next. I don't care who you are. Losing 9 starters on the defense is going to have an impact. Don't have to. The stupid Barners were killing those trees long before jackazz decided he needed to make it personal.
  10. Its becoming much clearer the best fit for Cam is anywhere but in Buffalo. The guy is being massively over-hyped. Let the "icon" go somewhere else, and let that team spend the next 5 years trying to develop Cam into an NFL QB.
  11. You forgot one. - Fitz ranked 13th in TDs - Despite being ranked ranked 9th in INTS, Fitz still threw for more TDs than INTS (23/15) Does that make him elite? No. But IMHO, it does make him better than you claim him to be.
  12. That's an option play, not a spread. Irrelevant. The shot gun has no factor in determining whether or not an offense is a "spread" offense. Like the shotgun, the spread is a formation (4-5 wr sets) It seems what you are calling a "full bore" spread is nothing more than the "spread option".
  13. Other teams have already run "Full bore spread offenses". Ever hear of the Run 'N Shoot? Full bore spread, 4 WR, no TE. How's that working?
  14. Yes, I implied that both acts were acts of vandalism, and that neither school can be held accountable for the stupidity of it's followers. And if I am reading this correctly, are you seriously implying that a level of vandalism is acceptable and rationale? Yep. Looks like you are. Why am I not surprised. Hint: Shop lifting is a misdemeanor and grand theft auto is a felony. One may be more serious than the other (and the punishment will reflect that), but it's still the same thing: theft/stealing/taking something that does not belong to you. Can I assume in "Aubbie World" that shop lifting is an acceptable form of behavior and can be rationalized?
  15. First, to all the Barners out there who insisted $cam Newton was cleared: Guess again. And would love to believe Cow College is "clean": Something is smoldering in Louisiana.
  16. Interesting statement to make. I'll disagree and so does this person: http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/02/despite_rivalry_many_bama_fans.html Why? What does the University of Alabama have to do with this? Where was Auburn's statement or action regarding Saban's lake house being vandalized this past year by alleged Aubbie fans? Quite simple. The guy is an ****. I, as well as others that I know, do not condone what he did. I do not condone vandalism, whether it's a tree, somebody's lake house, or a player's lawn. The guy's actions were petty and childish, and embarrassing to the great people who follow and support the University of Alabama. I hope they punish him as harshly as possible.
  17. one possible expalanation: The Bills suck, therefore they will have a hard time selling tickets to the actual game. Of course, this is also a jab at LA. They will not support a team unless its winning.
  18. I'm no electrician, so take this info FWIW. You said the blanket was plugged into a power strip/surge protector. Theoretically, the power strip should have tripped way before circuit breaker did. Is the power strip still plugged into the wall? If so, unplug it and retry the circuit breaker. If it resets, the power strip is most likely shorted out, and time for a new one. If it still wont reset, how did the power strip plug look? Was it black and/or have a melted look to it? Check the electrical outlet in the wall. Remove the face plate and with a flashlight, look at the outlet face and sides. If any part of it looks melted, you are better off replacing it. Circuit breakers are fairly easy to replace and are not terribly expensive. At this point, you could either buy one and replace it to see if it solves the problem, or call in an pro.
  19. You could try Linky NSFW Costs money, but you might enjoy their (point of) view.
  20. I would also like to hear the 911 tapes. When I said I wasn't buying the shooter's story, I was trying to convey I don't believe the events happened the way the shooter states they did. When I read his version, there seems to be a deliberate attempt to paint Park as being something more than a drunken idiot.
