Good God, just no. No Dabo, no Lane. I would take Sark, but that would be on heck of bidding war.

Let the dark ages begin, and the gnashing of the teeth. Saban is the GOAT and exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I can still remember when they hired him to that 8 year contract(s). I was stoked. I figured he would get 1 NC during his 8 years. But 3? At that point, I was like sit back and enjoy it. Everything else is just gravy at that point,

Is Florida St Ever Going to Stop Whining ?
Cynical replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in College Football
Unless I am mistaken, one of the requirements for entrance into the Big 10 is the schools membership in the AAU. FSU is not in the AAU. On paper, U/Miami would be a better option. A footprint in FL, a major TV market, and an AAU member. -

That would be a neat trick, considering UCF started playing in the Big XII conference this year. The ACC isn't sniping UCF any time soon. FSU may want to be in the SEC, but they offer very little to the SEC. -
Get ready for the College Super League!
Cynical replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in College Football
I am so tired of the NCAA and their BS. Its an outdated model/organization more concerned about holding onto power. I have been advocating for the top schools to leave the NCAA since 2013. This latest proposal hasn't changed my mind. Everything being proposed can be done without NCAA involvement. -

There will be enough fans. Do not underestimate the following of the larger schools. In parts of this country, college football is king. -
"I do think it's weird for people that have no connection to a school choosing to root for them just because they win..." This happens quite frequently, both at the collegiate level and at the professional level. It's not a coincidence the number of Bills fan grew during the early 90's when the Bills went to 4 SB. It's not a coincidence the number of CFL fans, who did not even care for the NFL, suddenly became Bills fans in the late 90's because of certain player.

Oooooh, the butt hurt is strong in this one. I think they make a cream for that. Just ask the Auburn fans.

Like I said, just moving the goal posts. Lets not forget, the top 4 teams get a bye, while teams 5-8 have to play an extra game in the 12 team format. In years, what is the over/under on that becoming an issue that just needs to be "fixed" to make college football better? 2? 3? 4? It will happen. Heck, maybe just 1. Look at this year. Imagine if this year was a 12 team playoff year. Bama at 4, and FSU at 5. I can already hear the bitching and crying about how it's not fair how FSU has to play an extra game as they are undefeated. UGA is claiming they are the 4th best team. Don't they deserve to get a bye?

You're deluded. The NCAA used to rank 64 teams for BB. That number was raised to 65. Why? Somebody, or somebodies, felt the 65th team deserved a shot. So the 64th team and 65th team could a have game to decide the actual 64th seed. That was raised to 67 teams. Why? Same BS reason. Now the 64-67 teams can have a mini playoff for 64th seed. Despite 67 teams getting to make the BB playoffs, there are still controversies about who gets selected and where they are ranked. The last time I checked, there was only 1 team to win it all that was ranked lower than 20. 1 team. 1 ****ing team. In reality, the NCAA only needs to rank the top 16 teams and let them play because that's where 99% of the time where the BB champion comes from. And yet, people B word because their team was not selected. So yeah, people will B word because the one loss SMU team did not get selected. You can bet the house on that.

Let me guess, you like Auburn.

LOL. You think this will stop? Going to 12 will just move goal posts about who deserved to get in.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!! 2023 SEC Champs!!!

Mullen? I would be horrified if his name came up as a HC possibility. You need recruiting in order to acquire talent, and NY state is not a hot bed of football talent. It may not be the dumpster fire Nebraska is, but its not Florida either. In Florida, you can tie a hundred dollar bill to piece of string, drag it behind you, and acquire multiple talented players. Mullen and his staff were not big on recruiting apparently. And that was a problem. Being at a Florida school and not actively recruiting the instate talent was not only insanely stupid, that is practically criminal. Brown may or may not fail. Its a pretty solid bet Mullen would have.

They wanted front row seats to one of the greatest plays in Iron Bowl history .... 😄

If you think expansion is just about football, you would be wrong. It's about "eyes", and what those eyes mean to TV deals. FB and BB bring the most eyes at the collegiate level. While VT may have the better FB program, UVA has the better BB program. UVA -> the Richmond market. VT -> the Roanoke market. That's a no brainer right there. Besides, Frank Beamer retired after 2015.
-
No guarantee if the SEC even wants Clemson and FSU. The SEC already has a big presence in SC and FL. So the only thing they add are their brands. From what I have been reading, the big targets are UNC and UVA. This would not only add brands, but new markets as well.

As collateral damage, what happens with the Rose Bowl now? With the pending demise of the PAC 12, and the expansion of CFB playoffs, any leverage they had of being relevant is gone. I'm sure a CFB playoff game will be held there, but I doubt they will be able to throw their weight around anymore.
