  1. Some of you could see a post on Hopkins social media of him in a Josh Allen Bills jersey eating a plate of Buffalo wings and say we're reading too much into it... LOL
  2. Not that it's that important, but Rodgers has said he spent all 4 nights in every interview I've heard him talk about it (Aubrey Marcus and Pat MacAfee)
  3. NFL is all about matchups. Bengals are a bad matchup for us. On the flip side, they basically never win against the Browns for some reason. Bengals are tough for the chiefs, for example, who finally beat them once
  4. That was an interesting read, for sure. If I'm the Jets there is no way I'm sending one of my top young players away. I would rather cave and send my 2024 1st round pick, which it sounds would get the deal done. 2023: 2nd, 2nd (Jets have 2) 2024 1st That's a nice haul for Green Bay and somewhat steep for the Jets for a 1-2 year player but not crazy. At the end of the day, I don't think Green Bay wants to trade him. They really want him to retire.
  5. I think it's as simple as they lucked into Favre turning out to be great and Rodgers falling in the draft. They went decades with 2 total playoff appearances and lots of 6-10 type seasons. That's where they are headed soon, unless Jordan Love is another winning lottery ticket. If they are truly hung up on the Jets 13th overall 1st rounder this year then the Jets should just wait until after the draft. The price will only go down as time passes. A 2024 1st rounder that you expect to be in the high 20's/low 30's overall is plenty doable. If I'm the Jets I offer my two 2023 2nds and my 2024 first. That's a haul for a disgruntled soon to be 40 year old QB. They got a conditional 4th for Favre.
  6. Jordan Phillips lined up next to our new 350+ pound rookie from Baylor? amazing!
  7. He has no history of that in the building or on the field. Just his being there, though, would be a media circus that would be non-stop. This would pressure the Packers to do something, and certainly would not be good for Jordan Love.
  8. If the Jets have a good to very good WR in Lazard then that's great no matter who the QB is. It's not a problem at all to have a good player signed. IMO eventually the deal will get done. Maybe the Jets trading Moore to Cleveland for a 2nd gives them enough to give GB their 2nd this year, plus a conditional 2nd next year that becomes a first under certain circumstances. A 2023 2nd (13th in the 2nd round) and a 2024 2nd that could become a 1st if certain conditions are met is a very good return for a 39 year old QB who you've come out and said you don't want. Last thing the Packers want is Rodgers playing this year in GB. In that scenario, Jordan Love demands a trade.
  9. Just theoretically... if I wanted to get my guy into free agency and knew there was almost no way it would happen voluntarily AND I wanted the whole thing to look like he was being held hostage and his career messed with by the team until it became such a mess that they had to release him, I would negotiate this very contract. Added bonus: the guy who doesn't like offseason stuff could miss it all, including camp, and hang out waiting for a SB contender to need a QB due to injury. Play a few weeks to get up to speed and go from there. Covid season showed that NFL players only need a few weeks and they're up to speed. He's the franchise! Better than Rodgers, and gives them a better chance to win. He should fetch more than Rodgers in a trade then. Teams are not allowed to keep a player away. A deal could be reached between player and team, but that doesn't benefit Rodgers at all. In the end, they cannot under the CBA keep him away against his will if he's under contract.
  10. Rodgers has a contractual DUTY to show up once things are mandatory. He doesn't need to do anything else. His mere presence will be a 24/7 media circus. At that point, the Packers will need to do something and the Jets or any other team would hold all the cards. Same thing happened with Favre. Rodgers gets to be the "victim" being held hostage by the team who doesn't want him while their "franchise QB" looks over his shoulder everyday and the coach, players, and Jordan Love get to answer Aaron Rodgers questions every single day. All he has to say is he has a contract and wants to play football. If that's the Packers having "leverage" then I would hate to see what it looks like to be in tough.
  11. and if they cut him he is a free agent, able to go anywhere he wants, which is something Green Bay doesn't want. Any team with interest also knows that as Week 1 approaches Green Bay is screwed. So they will wait until he's cut, then he's a free agent with zero trade cost. The Jets are the best option GB has. AFC team, hard for Rodgers to get to the Super Bowl, they get to decide where he goes. If they cut him he'll end up in SF or some other NFC team, almost guaranteed.
  12. Don't forget that Jordan Love is expected to request a trade if Rodgers returns, so Green Bay is in a real mess if they don't just stop trying to be the "tough guys" and find a way to get the deal done. They aren't getting a high 1st in the 2023 draft for a 39 year old guy with an insane contract who will just retire after this season anyway. If I'm the Jets MAYBE I wait until after the draft then agree to send my 2024 1st rounder, expecting it to be very late in the 1st round, just to get the deal done. But that's my offer, not a boatload of picks for a 1 year deal.
  13. I'm a huge Spencer Brown fan. Freakish athleticism, gigantic man, mean streak... All in all, what you want in a lineman, IMO. He'll get better as well as he develops as a player. He came in pretty raw but he's showing flashes.
  14. Green Bay is about to fall into the abyss of irrelevance for a decade or more like they were before Favre arrived. From 1968 to 1992 they made the playoffs in 2 seasons, with a 1-2 postseason record. Lots of dismal football in there. That 24 seasons. Everything old is new again, as they say!
  15. Now we're talking! Plus at only 337 pounds and being a rookie he's got some room to get to 350 for us!
  16. I hope the ground isn't too rocky when they start digging, or that they don't hit a lot of roots or it might be 2030 before they're done
  17. I want a giant, mountain of a DT 330 lbs is ok, but 340+ is ideal.
  18. Jets entered the situation without a real option at QB, and the draft is coming up. If Rodgers doesn't work out then they signed Lazard, who is a decent WR for whoever they bring in. They haven't yet signed any other "Rodgers guys" that I know of.
  19. Cam Newton was amazing for a handful of years then it was all over so quickly. Cautionary tale for a QB taking too many hits. And Newton is built like a linebacker, so it wasn't that he was slightly built or anything.
  20. Jets have 100% of the leverage here and there is no way Green Bay is getting a top 15 overall pick for a 39 year old QB with a $50 million salary who will probably retire next offseason. Plus, don't forget: Love has put the word out that he will demand a trade if Rodgers comes back. Green Bay cannot afford to have Rodgers coming back with his enormous salary. Does anyone truly believe that he'll be backing up Jordan Love? LOL Even assuming the Packers went with that plan, they would get nothing for Rodgers in a trade, pay him $50+ million, and have a never ending circus going on while they're trying to hand the baton to Love. Plus the Packers would have 2 disgruntled, angry QBs who want out in that scenario. I am going to really enjoy watching Green Bay fall into the abyss for the foreseeable future. They turned $1M into $750K with both Favre and Rodgers. Lucked into 2 HOF QBs and refused to do what was necessary to surround them with the talent and coaching (aside from Holmgren and Favre) to win more rings.
  21. I always kind of wish it was a 2 year deal, just in case he comes in and is great but seems like a solid signing
  22. The more I think of it, if you're a star QB in this league isn't your contract basically guaranteed anyway? Let's say the Ravens sign him 5 years, $250 million but only 1/2 is guaranteed. If he plays well and is who he is he will see every penny, because he would have to agree to a restructure of they would have to cut him. Otherwise, he will get the $$. Josh Allen will see every penny of his contract here, and then some, regardless of guarantees.
  23. Well, Rodgers only won 1 Super Bowl and 4 MVPs. Imagine saying that. He should have won more rings is the only thing you can really say about his on field career. The fact that this is the criticism tells you everything you need to know about how good he has been.
  24. After decades of misery, what a difference that we're now angry about the Bills QB "only" being though of as #3 in the league!
