  1. how about 3 years, 42 million, 100% guaranteed? That gets him to age 28 and we can count on all 3 years being very productive barring injury
  2. I just wish I had the chance to sit down with McDermott, have a couple of beers and convince him to embrace the big sloppies at DT
  3. Good lord can you imagine Beane drafting Maybin? Beane on draft night: "he has some great physical tools and a great attitude, everything you want... we just need him to slim down some..." Maybin would have weighed 190 pounds on this Bills team
  4. This is such a weird story to blow up if it never happened. I think it did happen, but both sides want it to go away because Jacksonville's HC just responded by saying "Duuuuuuuvalllll!" with that clown like smile. Jacksonville wants all 12 of their fans to settle down and renew season tickets, and the Steelers don't want it out there that they tried to trade for a QB in case they are stuck with Russ. Plus then whatever the Steelers do at QB wasn't their first choice.
  5. McDermott gets Allen's entire career. And he's certainly good enough to win a SB. Plenty of "meh" head coaches have gotten one because of either an all time great QB or a great team performance in that game. Just have to get there. Every year that goes by it'll be "golly, he's won so many games here... the drought... the Sabres " And if (God forbid) injuries lead to a bad record? Well, come on, the guy deserves a mulligan! Thus, he gets Allen's entire career here. It just is what it is. I just hope he changes his defensive philosophy because it doesn't work against good QBs. I don't think that's crazy, because he has shown an ability to adapt.
  6. At those rates, pay Shakir, Cook, and Bernard. Benford is good but not worth that much $$ I want to pay guys that make plays. Shakir always makes plays. Cook always makes plays. So pay them.
  7. The Bengals matter because of Burrow. And they had to sell naming rights to pay for his contract. IMO the owner is awful, the facilities are a running joke, and when I think of the Bengals headquarters I picture wood paneling, lots of brown, orange and yellow colors, cigarette smoke slowly filling the air while guys drink 3 hour old coffee with powdered creamer and eat gas station lunch sandwiches that they were able to get for free just before they were thrown away for the day. All that said, THAT team made it to a Super Bowl. All because of Burrow. But I foresee some nastiness in the relationship in the future once guys start walking out the door to preserve the "bottom line."
  8. a year or two on the Jets is the price you pay if you want to force yourself off the Packers roster.
  9. everyone wants to dog Tomlin but he got to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 with a HOF QB. Compare that to getting to 2 AFC Title Games and winning zero with a future HOF QB.
  10. It's one thing to know it's going to happen, but seeing it in print just hits different
  11. Mahomes had the chance to catch Brady but blew it in the Tampa SB. If KC won that won the ring race would be 6-4 in favor of Brady right now, with Mahomes only being 29. Interestingly, Brady had only won 3 Super Bowls when he was 37.
  12. IMO the issue is the Chiefs aren't used to adversity. Same thing happened in the Tampa Super Bowl. As lopsided as that game became, early on Mahomes was under tremendous pressure, but when he did make throws then guys dropped the ball or didn't make a play when there were opportunities. Suddenly instead of 1st and 10 they're punting and it snowballs. When your offense is only getting 3 plays a drive you aren't going to get anything done and the DL is going to eat. WR and TW need to make the catch when the QB gets it out but that didn't happen in either SB loss for them. In the Tampa SB you had the play where Mahomes was horizontal in mid air, throwing a perfect pass into the endzone for what should have been a TD and the WR dropped it. That's what happens when you really pressure KC. They crumble under it (IMO) because they are not accustomed to needing to battle to move the ball. The other issue is that THAT was their chance and they didn't convert. They get tight. Once the Philly game was over they all of a sudden start throwing it deep, whereas Mahomes passed up the deep throws when they were possible when it still a game.
  13. he looks ancient out there now... He's done whether he retires or not. Can't play our defense every week.
  14. sadly that's an issue
  15. I would need to see some longevity. Getting to 2 Super Bowls in such a short span is pretty impressive, though. IMO it's as much or more about the fact that the Eagles are a Pro Bowl roster on both sides of the ball with excellent coordinators.
  16. If Siriani can get to 2 and win one McDermott can too. I think it's as much about the Eagles roster and fantastic coordinators as anything Siriani does. Load up the roster and McDermott can certainly get it done.
  17. Rodgers to the Steelers makes a lot of sense. Titans or Raiders? Why even bother. He would be better off going to an NFC South team where you can win 6 games and still win the division.
  18. After last night I don't think it's crazy that Allen and Mahomes end up with the same # of rings by the time they retire. Mahomes isn't getting to 7. Sorry Chiefs fans. He might get 1 or 2 more over the next 10-12 seasons. But Lamar, Josh and Burrow will have something to say about him continuing to play in the SB.
  19. when you watch old film of the Marino, Kelly, Elway, Montana days... yikes! QBs would throw the ball, then 2 seconds later some DL would piledrive them into the turf. It looks like a totally different game. Marino was interviewed Super Bowl week and said it himself. Guys from his era would have stayed a lot healthier and played a lot longer if QB protections existed back then.
  20. Beane and McDermott asked Epenesa to "slim down" (just google it, you'll see plenty of references to it) after Beane talked about loving his measurables on draft night. This scheme and philosophy are the problem. Eagles attack and prize big, physical linemen on both sides of the ball. On D we seem to want quick smaller guys, and the scheme is to sit back, keep the game in front of you, come up to make tackles and don't give up anything big. Wait for the QB to make a mistake, or the OL to hold, or someone to drop a pass. and it works a lot, until you play elite teams. I want my 350 lb DT this year in the draft! 340 is fine too, because he can put the work in at the cafeteria to get where he needs to be.
  21. Mahomes hasn't been running a dangerous looking offense for a while now
  22. Is it just me or did the end feel anti climactic? Took forever to get that confetti going
  23. Mike Periera sounds so defeated
