I'm looking up these stats and it doesn't make sense! Those unstoppable Bills offenses and Montana's unstoppable 49ers offenses and not a single 4000 season between them... They seemingly scored at will but you look at the stats and they would barely be top 10 today Freaking Matt Stafford did it 7 years in a row and has a shot at making that 8 this year... So I've gotta give Namath props... That is a crazy season

Troy Aikman Joe Montana Jim Kelly All never hit 4000 yards in a 16 game season, yet all 3 are Hall of Fame QBs known for running explosive and innovative offenses decades after Namath played. Doesn't seem possible but it's true. Elway just broke 4000 one time in his career. To me that puts that 4000 yard season back in 1967 when they only played 14 games in perspective, and I'm no Namath fan.

I don't think I've ever seen this, but IMO it's the next "thing" the young creative minds in the game will be doing soon. With offense the way it is, just take the 5 yard penalty and save the timeout, unless you're right on the goal line or something similar. 90% of the time you are better off just taking the penalty, so that if you are down 2 scores late you always have a chance to come back.

Word is that McDermott tried to fire Crossman, but Crossman just said "nope" and shut his office door. McDermott went to the gym and punched some heavy bags for a while and things just went on as-is. How Crossman is still employed here is a mystery.

I will literally cry tears of joy if he goes there and becomes a serious player for them, allowing them to knock NE off in the playoffs. After that, I don't care what happens and football just becomes fun again. If it seems like I make everything about NE, it's because that's what the NFL has become. It's a show about the Patriots, with the other teams added in to round out their story. Even those Dallas and SF teams of the 80's and 90's eventually went away.

I would be ok with it because it means no NE in the Super Bowl. Whatever it takes
