Thank you for updating your avatar! The thing is... If you're Brady you know BB will want you to hand off and manage the game, because he switched to that approach at the end of 2018 when Gronk was still there. He isn't going back to throwing it with a 43 year old QB 2 years later. Chargers are desperate for some hype. They could overpay Brady and let him bring his nutty friend AB with him. -

I don't see that because Brady would be admitting that he's a lower tier starting QB with that paltry $$ Why are you shorting your team a title in your avatar? We all suffered through all 6... Might as well display them all -
I wouldn't be surprised if Brady just wants to have some fun and put together a "dream team" somewhere of AB and whoever the Chargers have, for example, and just chuck the ball around and win that way again. IF he goes back to NE he WILL be a game manager type. BB built the team that way last season (and they won) because he saw the writing on the wall. That was with Gronk, a healthy Edelman, and a 2 year younger Brady.

First of all, fix your avatar, will you? Your team has 6 titles. Once you update it it'll be good for about 20 years. Second, I said in the text that you quoted that this is not about their careers overall. It's about 2020 and going forward. I love talking NFL history. The Patriots dynasty is now NFL history. Good stuff to reminisce about in March and April before the current teams get underway. -
A few tidbits: The contract issue Brady will count 6.75 million against the 2020 and 2021 cap BEFORE he signs any new deal with NE. This is because of the way the team structured his current deal to free up 2019 cap space. So, if Brady signs for 2 years, 60 million (30 per year) he will count 30+6.75= 36.75 each season, eating up a TON of their cap space. They could always push that into the future with some creative accounting, I'm sure, but it will still put a crunch on their ability to re-sign their big name free agents, let alone bring new guys in. As much as NE might want him back, they really cannot afford to sign a 5 year deal or something similar just to push the cap hit away, because that will totally cripple their cap if he only plays 1 more season due to age, injury, or effectiveness. As soon as he leaves ALL that dead cap money hits the books at once. That's the deterrent to doing that, or else every team would do it. Antonio Brown I know AB is nuts, but he and Brady seem to have a bromance going. AB orchestrated his departure from the Steelers. NE tried to trade for him but was told no. So AB goes to Oakland. Then, AB hired people to help him be as crazy as possible (money well spent, and still paying dividends) in order to get cut from the Raiders. 5 minutes later he is on the Patriots, talking about how it was his dream to play with Brady. Once he's cut it's "play with Brady or no play" among a bunch of posts taking joy in the playoff downfall of NE (but not Brady, I suppose). AB must think (or know) that Brady will be elsewhere. Brady's house and the Witch Doctor's cabin Both went up for sale right after Brady signed this new deal. "They" Brady repeatedly referred to the Patriots as "they" right after the game Saturday night. Freudian slip?

If on January 7th, 2019, someone asked you this: "If I told you that next playoff season Josh Allen would outplay Tom Brady, would you take it?" How many would have said no? -

James White, the guy who pretty much won the Atlanta Super Bowl Harry, a 1st round rookie WR Sanu, a guy they just traded a 2nd round pick for and who had been a solid producer in Atlanta Josh McDaniels as OC, a guy constantly up for HC gigs every year It isn't like Brady didn't have anyone. THAT is denial talking. I SO want him back with another team next season just so he can remove all doubt. -

It's not about careers. It's about where we are right now. It's about the FACT that Josh Allen outplayed Tom Brady in the playoffs in a game played in 2020. Patriots fans who post here will point to Brady's career. His Superbowl wins. His career passing stats. They will be doing that a LOT over the next few years as they come to grips with the end of their run. I love talking football history, don't get me wrong. This thread is about the present, though! So... Brady is still great, but just needs weapons but Allen stinks? I mean, this Bills offense was loaded with talent, right? -

I get that, but what was Allen's supporting cast? I saw the rookie RB making play after play and pretty much nobody else, except the 2nd year QB running, throwing, catching. We're talking about 2019 and 2020. This is not to say Allen was great in the 2nd half, but he's just starting his career. The denial is everyone nationally bashing Allen and saying "Brady still has it!" -

It's a nice illustration of the fact that Allen had a better game than many realize. -
Giants hiring Joe Judge as HC

They DO deserve the years of mediocrity that are coming though! -
Josh Allen: (on the road against a division champion in his first playoff game of his career) Total yards: 372 Turnovers: 1 (fumble that led to a FG) 24/46 (52%) 264 yards passing 92 yards rushing 16 yards receiving accounted for 1 TD (receiving) Tom Brady: (at home against the 6th seed in his 40th playoff game of his 20 year NFL career) Total yards: 209 Turnovers: 1 (pick 6) 20/37 (54%) 209 yards passing 0 yards rushing 0 yards receiving accounted for 0 TD There are no "yeah buts."

Allen out-playing other playoff QBs
TheFunPolice replied to wiseman3's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Other team's WR seem to catch everything Just an observation -
His play declined this year Remember: in the Superbowl he threw 0 TD and 1 INT and scored 13 points Against the Titans he threw 1 INT 0 TD and scored 13 points. Some blame the supporting cast but last year he had Gronk and a healthy Edelman and had the same result. This year he was missing throws and panicking under pressure. He was also banged up. None of that gets better at age 43. If NE has to pay him the going rate of 25-30 million they are going to have to let other guys walk.
