I see the Bills as having a great chance to make a crazy run and win a Super Bowl (or maybe 2) sometime in the next few years, but I don't see a dynasty sort of team. I think McDermott and the Bills will most resemble the Steelers of the past 15 years. Seemingly always in it, but never really seen as THE team to beat. I mean, the Steelers are unbeaten but all you hear is "yeah, butt" from commentators. Nobody is saying they aren't a great team, but it doesn't seem like they are getting the hype or attention that an unbeaten team ought to. If the Bills have their type of run for 15 years, winning a SB or 2, I'll take it, though!

After a nearly 20 year playoff drought, having a team that makes the playoffs just about every year is a nice change of pace! Have we forgotten watching 4-7 Bills teams playing out the string with a rotation of nobodies at QB and the hottest topic being firing the head coach in December? McDermott and Beane deserve a ton of credit for completely turning this franchise around. As far as post-season success, standards will be raised, but you have to be in the tournament to win a title. No coach is perfect, and "he can't win the big one!" is what everyone says... until you win the big one. It was the one "yeah, butt" about Andy Reid. Talk about a guy who coached forever but "couldn't win the Super Bowl."

Give Milano a 3 year, $27-29 million contract. Don't go crazy, but also lock him up for a few seasons. If it comes down to $$, there are places to make up some savings.

Romo as full time Brady apologist...
TheFunPolice replied to Jamie Mueller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want Tampa Bay to make the playoffs, simply because the spotlight, the stakes, and therefore enjoyment of watching Brady fail, are magnified. I also want him to play well enough that he comes back next season. AFC East plays that division, so we get to see the Bills vs him and NE vs Brady. I really look forward to having that experience of seeing Brady vs NE, especially since I couldn't tell you today who I would be rooting for. -
As much as every fanbase (aside from NE) feels like their team has the most heartbreaking history, imagine being a Falcons fan for the past 5 years. You were an elite team for a few seasons. You finally get to the Super Bowl. You're winning 28-3 in the second half, and even after letting NE get to within 8 points, you drive the ball all the way down to their 20 something yard line with a couple minutes to go. A few plays later you could chip in a FG and go up 11, avoiding a historic meltdown. But we all know what happened: they threw the ball, which stopped the clock with an incomplete. Then they ran and got a holding penalty. Then "Matty Ice" got sacked and they didn't even get to try a FG. And then they imploded. It's like since the Super Bowl, every thing that could go wrong has. They have practically invented ways to lose in gut-wrenching fashion, like the RB accidently scoring a TD this season. And I say LOL after what they put America through in that Super Bowl!

Is the NFL Better than Ever Today?
TheFunPolice replied to May Day 10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed! You can still see some big hits, but honestly I don't miss seeing a SS like Atwater coming in like a heat seeking missile and practically decapitating a WR across the middle. I also like seeing the stars play more games and miss fewer due to injury. The game has evolved. It is still a physical game (far from a "Pro Bowl") but more like rugby, where there are hits and there is physicality but the stupid stuff where guys fly head first looking for the KO is becoming a thing of the past. Football is only going to continue to grow in popularity with the rise of new stars. Remember when there was a legitimate worry about who the next batch of QBs would be after the Favres, Mannings, Bradys, etc. retired? No issue there: we have tons of exciting, young QBs that are leading teams into the future. Also, few other sports allow for the teams that have been down to get back up. Teams that weren't traditionally strong have a shot at becoming the new power teams in the league. BUF, CLE, CIN, ARZ are just a few that were down and out for most of the past decade (or more) but have a real shot at winning consistently for a while. All of a sudden KC went from a mediocre team to a super team, mostly because of 1 player.
