If the Bills lose in the playoffs again, regardless who the team is, and especially if the defense disappoints yet again, this will be the national conversation like it or not. Allen is a superstar and the Bills are currently a team in the spotlight. All the national media will be saying "not even 1 SB appearance with Josh Allen at QB?" Allen has been one of the best QBs in recent playoff history, yet zero SB appearances. It isn't the same with the Ravens. Lamar's play has dipped significantly in the playoffs, so you can't just blame the coach. Here we have Allen elevating his game in the biggest moments, yet the coaching and defense do not step up. That's an issue. At some point, what is the value of a defensive HC whose defense always lets the team down in the playoffs? That will 100% be the discussion. Hopefully, it's all moot and we get to and win the SB!

Around the NFL Pre-Season week 1 edition.

if anyone tanks for Arch Manning could it please be an NFC team getting a good QB for once? -
3 years, 35 million, 25 guaranteed. A bit over Williams deal in all key areas. Cook will be 29 at the end of the deal and maybe can get 1 more.

It was a direct shot across the bow at Burrow based on the Netflix Quarterback series. Next episode I expect Josh to take the OL to the Strong Museum after practice and go through the different types of fossils and then an astronomy lesson at the planetarium. I am just kidding, but it's what I thought of! It makes sense if you watched Burrow on Quarterback on Netflix. Always yapping about dinosaurs and fossils and other random science stuff. Now that I'm saying all that I wouldn't be shocked if it was some kind of inside joke based on Burrow in the Netflix show. Sort of like a friendly jab that the players would get but most would miss.

ESPN acquiring the NFL Network and the NFL Redzone
TheFunPolice replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only thing I care about in this deal is Red Zone not sucking. It's literally the perfect product. No "adjustments" or "tweaks" needed. -
Awesome, thank you!

I apologize if this is a silly question but we won't be able to watch until 930 or so tonight. Can we stream the whole show then? New to HBO Max

I could see him getting a bit more, because that's how these things so often work. So 3 years, 34 million. Maybe 25 guaranteed. That might do it. I get what you're saying about the risk of guaranteed money for a RB, but you're going to guarantee a big chunk anyway. If you could get Cook to take a touch less overall if it was mostly or all guaranteed that might help with the cap number. But I would be terrible at this. I would have 3 375 pound DT on the team cost be damned! And I would pay all the guys to keep them, so I don't pretend to be an expert.
-
I mean second round picks have basically been getting guaranteed rookie deals. Different money, of course. But to the point, the Rams guaranteed about 2/3 of Williams' deal. So if Cook gets close to what he wants, say 3 years, 42 million and 2/3 is guaranteed, that's around 30 million in guaranteed money. Or maybe Cook would go for 3 years at a lower base with a bit more guaranteed: 3 years, 34.5, fully guaranteed. That's 4.5 million more in guaranteed money, but a better cap number for the Bills. Everyone wins.

all of this is for nothing. Jerry will pay Parsons and everyone will be happy. Oddly, for a guy with all that money who owns a brand like the Cowboys, Jones is cheap in his negotiations. Then, it ends up costing him more later on. Their HC hire was hilarious, all because Jerry kept nickel and diming Big Mike.

Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million
TheFunPolice replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
So 3 for 42 but guarantee 30 vs 3 for 34.5 all guaranteed No real difference except base salary. -
I mean, I get it to some degree but if that's what it takes to get it done. You do if they're a second round pick

Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million
TheFunPolice replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
you could sweeten the deal for Cook: 3 years, 34.5 all guaranteed. He's going to play for 3 more seasons and likely be a great player for us. I'm not a fan of just giving him a raise this season but nothing beyond that. The team gets nothing new for that. IF you go that route, rip up his current deal and go 2 years 24 million, all guaranteed. Cook will be great for this year and next, then he can test the waters or the sides can revisit. -
3 years @ 11.5 per year is good. Cook is a great player for us, and 3 years should be a productive term in his career. Based on Cook's production you could guarantee it all, if that's what it took.
-
Pay the man. Cook is a great player. Go short term if you must. But send a Brinks truck full of cash to Cook's house and get the man on the field so that we can go win a Super Bowl!

Maybe it's recency bias... or I had unrealistic expectations because of all the gushing over him on draft night and Jerry Jones looking so sad. You're right that looking back, he did certainly have some good stretches. Hopefully it was just injury related and he will heal up and be back to 100% this season!

Josh seems in every way like an amazing person, which is why I say he's America's QB. He even wears the red, white and blue! People see him out a lot around here and often times they don't want to bother him or say anything but if he overhears you talking like that or sees you wearing Bills gear often he will approach you and say hello. Definitely a guy that deserves to hoist the Lombardi, hopefully soon, and maybe even more than once! More importantly, he seems like a genuinely happy and thankful person. It has to be tough sometimes to be "on" all the time in public but he always seems to have a smile and have time for people who want to say hello.

Dude is as tough as a $2 steak. Buy the jersey and never look back!

Just please no Achilles... When Rodgers went to the Jets he had calf issues all offseason and then his Achilles blew up 4 plays into the season. Probably not a real concern but first thing I thought of. It would never work in the NFL but Bosa is a great candidate for load management, like he plays a handful on snaps all season long just to stay fresh until the playoffs. But football players want to play football, which makes sense, and want to be out there battling with their teammates, not watching from the sideline when they feel they could contribute.

NFL players to the Olympics in Flag Football?
TheFunPolice replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
the thing I don't like about flag football is it doesn't feel like football. The field is smaller and shorter. Use an actual sized field and have more players on each side if that's what it takes. Have first downs, the whole nine yards, but just flags instead of tackling. It's too hard to follow and not any fun to watch IMO. At least football but with flags would still be recognizable. In gym class we used to play a game that I think the gym teacher invented, but it was a lot of fun. You played on a soccer field with a soccer ball, but if the ball was airborne you could catch it and run with it until someone on the other team tagged you. Then you had to drop it on the ground and play it like soccer. You could also pass the ball forward to a teammate by throwing it if you were running with it, but whenever it hit the ground it had to be played like soccer until someone kicked it up in the air and then it was fair game to catch it and run with it. To score, you could throw the ball into the soccer goal (1 point) or kick it (2 points) or head it (3 points). If the goalie made a save they could throw or kick the ball out to restart play. It was a lot of fun, but calling it "soccer" or "rugby" or even "football" would all be misnomers. It was a different (way more fun) game that used a soccer ball and some elements of soccer but had different rules. To me, that's what flag football feels like. It is not the same sport. -
I think all of us want Kincaid to be great. I don't think he's been bad or anything, but he's been nothing special. If he truly needs to get bigger and isn't then that is on him and his training. I don't pretend to know enough about ideal player size (unless it's 340+ pound DTs)!
-
I remember draft night all the pundits acted like we just drafted the second coming of Travis Kelce. One guy (can't remember who) actually said "anyone who lets the Bills get Kincaid to pair with Allen deserves what they get!" (or words to that effect). Now, I watch basically zero college football and admittedly know little about it. I'll be watching NC this year just for the show. But all of a sudden everyone is gushing about this TE that I just heard of for the first time 5 minutes before and I admit... I was pumped! We got a superstar level TE possibly. That probably has colored my view of Kincaid's career. He has not even been good, let alone scary.
