I'm with you; I was being facetious with the "greatest athlete ever" comment. I was reading one too many "there's almost no comparison with Brady" articles. It's incredible that Bill Russell is just sitting there with 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons and nobody even cares to mention him in the GOAT conversation. THAT is dominance. At least Jordan has come out and said Russell is the real GOAT. I guess since it was a long time ago they don't count as much... Patriots fans better prepare for the same thing!

I don't see it with Darnold. Not a fan at all. Look at a kid like Stafford. Tough as nails. Puts up the stats every season on hopeless teams. Took the Lions of all organizations to the playoffs 3 different seasons. Plays hurt all the time. Has the mental toughness to deal with perpetual losing without cracking. Hardly ever misses time. Darnold has missed a lot of time and just seems lost and/or mentally beaten down. Now, he's in a terrible spot. But still, some guys keep plugging away (Stafford, Carr) and others like Darnold just seem to melt. When a guy who has gone through playing on a miserable team like Stafford finally gets a shot on a good team with a real coach, watch what happens. He was never broken. Darnold is going to need to be "reconstructed" and that's a low % proposition, IMO.

Carr reminds me of Carson Palmer. Palmer was always the 320 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT and a loss QB. Stats always seemed there but there was something missing. Stafford is this X2. Then, Palmer goes to the Raiders and continues to be the 300+ yards in a loss guy. Finally, he gets to Arizona and all of a sudden he is a top QB in the league and winning tons of games. I see Carr being this on a new team, and I think Stafford is going to be a top 5-7 QB with the Rams. Sometimes guys just need a new team.

The good news is that peoples' memories are short, and the newest is always the best. Which is why the guy who won 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons isn't thought of as the GOAT. That's why this game is huge for those of us who want to change the "Brady is GOAT" conversation. If Mahomes comes up short we're probably stuck, because Mahomes could eventually win 6 and it'll be "yeah but."

If that happens then Reid will be in the GOAT discussion as well. Many don't realize that he is about to break into the top 5 all-time in HC wins. He has said he wants to coach another 10 years. By then, he could easily pass Belichick on the list, and maybe even make a push for #1. It's amazing how thin the line is. Dee Ford lines up correctly and Seattle hands the ball off to Lynch and Brady is 4-4 in the Super Bowl. Instead, because of 2 things he had ZERO control over, except the Ford wiped out his game-losing INT, he is unquestionably the greatest athlete in history in any sport, and there's just no comparison! LOL

I hear ya! With Allen we're going to have a chance!

Carr was in the MVP race a few seasons ago, and hasn't really ever been bad. He just might benefit from a chance of scenery.

Don't forget this: early on in the Manning vs Brady debate Big Ben quietly won 2 rings and had another SB appearance while Peyton only had 1 title. I have a gut feeling Allen is going to be the Big Ben type career. While the flashy QBs get all the press, he goes to a couple SBs and wins 1-2. Heck, if Allen goes to 3 Super Bowls and wins 2 I think we'll all be very happy with that!

Me too. If Jordan can be in the NBA GOAT conversation with 5 fewer rings than Russell "because of _____" then the same can apply to football. Heck, LeBron is in the GOAT conversation in the NBA with 4. Then it comes to stats. Statistical records are all temporary, as these young guys like Mahomes are obliterating the record books early on. If he plays until he's 39 or 40 he will hold every single passing record there is. Eventually Brady will be retired and watching his records fall one by one. Mahomes has 114 TDs in his first 3 years. Brady had 69. Does anyone think the game will change to favor the pass less? Help defenses more? Protect QBs less? Brady playing now just delays Mahomes taking over these records by a year or two. If Mahomes averages 38 TD a season (which has been his average) he'll break Brady's record in 12 years, when he is 37. It's amazing what winning more than 1 ring does for a legacy. That's the biggest question make with Mahomes. Is he truly the champion/clutch guy? That remains to be seen.

Sunday is such a swing game for the legacies of Mahomes and Reid. As much as we love Allen, there's a big difference between the 2. If KC wins, the GOAT whispers will begin. They would have a chance to become the first team in NFL history to 3 peat as SB champions, with one of those coming against Brady. Later on, when we're comparing careers, having this W would be enormous for both Mahomes and Reid. To win 5 or 6 titles, you've got to bank a few early on in your career, as Brady did. He went 10 years between SB wins, but stacked them when he did win. On the other hand, with a loss Mahomes drops to .500 in the big game and Reid has a losing record at 1-2. This is likely his only chance to best Brady on this stage. Brady is playing with house money. Even if he gets blown out, it doesn't hurt him at all. He's 43 for crying out loud, against the up and coming superstar QB and team. But for Mahomes, this is enormous.

Oh they would play, and the gushing over how amazing it is that Brady is doing what he is doing when he throws 4 INT, including a pick 6 but still wins 14-10 because the Chiefs have Chad Henne would be nauseating. Remember when it comes to GOAT talk: it's all about the rings and nothing else. Therefore, Bill Russell, who has 11, is the GOAT of the NBA. The man only played 13 seasons, and won the title in 11 of them. That's even more impressive than Brady. The Brady fans on here can only agree that, until Brady wins his 11th ring, it's not a debate. Russell is the GOAT when it comes to major sports leagues in the US.

Marty would have been the perfect choice for the Bills at that time. He wanted the job badly, and he and Nix got along well. But, Ralph (who still called the shots on big decisions) didn't want him, so we ended up with Chan Gailey, who is the "perfectly fine choice" for a team that is hopeless and just treading water. So glad those days of arguing about Fitzpatrick and hearing about what a "guru" Gailey is are over.

OK, no more tests now. Last thing we need is a Chiefs outbreak the night before the SB. It'll go up there with Lynch not getting the ball and and Dee Ford lining up Offside on the game winning INT as things that went the "GOAT's" way.

Depending on QB, Colts could be really tough. I think the AFC comes down to Colts, Bills, Chiefs, Ravens. Also-rans: Titans, Browns Titans do one thing well: hand off to Henry 87 times a game. Browns have Alex Smith version 2.0 at QB. They will win a lot, but never anything big.

Not sure what all of these numbers mean, but when it comes to DT my favorite numbers are 3-5-0, as in 350+ pounds. And that's before we get the guy into some Buffalo area establishments!

Fitz on the Colts would be a lot of fun.

Flores is getting too cute here. He's made a lot of mistakes, but he is still a promising coach. This is just goofy, though. As Socrates used to say on Twitter: "If you have 2 offensive coordinators, you don't have any."

There is no scenario in which I would trade Josh Allen. Football is a game that is so dependent on chemistry and team culture. It's not the NBA or NHL where you're one of a few guys on the court, and a supremely talented player can elevate a team in the way that having the best center in NFL history on a bad team won't. Watson is no upgrade over Allen, in my book. Both are exciting young QBs. Also, you never know how a player will mesh with a new team. The Bills need to focus on acquiring 350 pound men with anger issues to play OL/DL.

I look forward to the GOAT talk in the years to come if Mahomes wins Sunday and keeps playing this way going forward. Reid will be in the GOAT conversation 100% for sure if the Chiefs go back to back and he coaches that team for another 5-7 years (he is 6 years younger than Belichick now) and picks up another 2-3 rings along the way. His system and schemes work, and have for 20+ years. Now he has a truly elite passer at QB for the first time ever. If he coaches another 6-7 years he will be in the top 3 winningest head coaches of all time, maybe even ahead of Belichick. How could Reid and Mahomes end up with 4 (for example) and be the GOATs? Well, people compare Brady's 6 titles to Jordan's, as if there aren't 9 players in NBA history with more titles than Jordan. If GOAT is just about rings then Bill Russell is the GOAT of all GOATs. 11 rings in 13 seasons played.

I just hope COVID doesn't ruin the Super Bowl.

Reid went to a Super Bowl with McNabb, went to the playoffs almost every year with different QBs on 2 different teams in 2 conferences, and has a very successful coaching tree including McDermott. To me that means his system and techniques are successful and adaptable. Belichick has made the playoffs once as a HC without Tom Brady as his QB, back when he was with the Browns. As a head coach, he was and now is totally mediocre to bad in terms of W/L without Tom Brady. Belichick also has no coaching tree to speak of, other than Saban who owns college football. He won 2 Super Bowls as an assistant on Parcells staff. Reid won a Super Bowl as an assistant on Holmgren's staff. Obviously Belichick is a great coach, but when all is said and done this is going to be a debate. Reid will very likely come close to or even pass him in career wins. If Reid racks up a few rings along the way things are going to be very interesting. Don't forget Reid is 6 years younger, and the Chiefs are red hot and rolling, whereas NE is a mess. Reid likely won't get 6 rings, but he has a good chance of passing Belichick on the career wins list and he will have won more than half of those games with McNabb and Alex Smith as his QBs. The vast majority of Belichick's wins will be with Brady at QB. It's going to get interesting. People has this idea that there was some secret magic to Belichick, that he was smarter than every other coach. Turns out Tom Brady had quite a bit to do with it.

I want some monsters on the OL/DL PLEASE get at least one 340+ pound guy with the attitude and mindset of Feliciano. Oliver would benefit from a gigantic DT taking on blocks. Star will help, but he is a little slight at only 315 pounds, assuming that number is correct. My wish list includes the 360 pound DT from Florida (Slayton) to put next to Oliver and Aaron Banks, the 330 pound guard from Notre Dame. Both would add some size and tenacity to the lines.

I wouldn't be interested in watching that game. The victory would be hollow, and a loss would suck even worse. Plus, imagine a guy getting hurt in a game that had zero meaning.
