After suffering through such a long drought era of Bills football, we have a legitimate Super Bowl contending team, a top GM/HC combo, a top 10, maybe even top 5 QB in the league who is just starting his career, and now QBs sign here as backups to benefit from working with Bills offensive coaches and rehab their image/career... It's truly amazing what Beane and McDermott have built here.

Rivera and Fitz are a great combo! Both are really smart, likeable and pretty funny guys too. Are we sure this wasn't Fitzpatrick putting the guys up to this to goof with Rivera?

Rodgers Disgruntled with Packers
TheFunPolice replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't want my QB dictating front office personnel, so I get GB not doing that. That said, use crisis as an opportunity. Offer Rodgers to Seattle for Wilson straight up and see what happens. GB might seem to be getting the better of that deal due to the age difference, but IMO Rodgers is the better QB and could still easily play 6-7 years, so the age difference isn't as stark. Wilson played college ball in Wisconsin, so there's a connection there. Wilson wants to be more out East, Rodgers want out West. Both QBs seem to want a change of scenery. Green Bay looks like a winner getting a younger, Super Bowl winning QB with local ties, who has also played in more Super Bowls than Rodgers. Seattle gets the league MVP with a chip on his shoulder for a good 5 years, maybe 6-7. Seattle looks like the winner getting the reigning league MVP and avoiding a similar situation with Wilson in the future. Everyone wins, which is why it won't happen. Instead, pride and ego will make Green Bay dig in and get nothing, the team will win 4-5 games with Love/Bortles, and Lefleur, who probably had no say in any of this, will take the fall. No matter what, the front office will want to look like they were "right" so zero change the GM gets fired, and they don't have an owner. It'll be the HC not developing Love the right way, and they'll find some other coordinator to come in and really "make it all work." -
My favorite Buddy Nix quote of all time came from one of his sparring sessions on WGR with Howard Simon where they were trying to get him to admit that the team needed a QB: "We can just let this thing go dead..." Second only to him kicking off his introductory press conference as GM by saying that nobody ever accused him of being the smartest person in the room and that he hadn't really thought of being a GM. The Bills were a joke back then. We've come a LONG way. I'll say this for Buddy Nix: he is a genuine guy who is pretty straightforward. Doug Whaley has done a number of totally unprofessional things for a guy in a senior position, this being the latest.

Dan Campbell wants a live Lion at Detroit pratices.
TheFunPolice replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as a fan, he's a lot of fun because he's out of his mind and it's the Lions but I can't imagine having to take him seriously as a player or assistant coach Can you imagine? The coach stops practice right in the middle of drills and screams at the players: "You hear that? Listen!" "That is a cardinal singing in the tree! Carry on..." -
DPOY - Tremaine Edmunds (?!?)
TheFunPolice replied to TailgateChef's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe he is so young still... Guy just turned 23 in May I think he will continue to progress, and in terms of build and size, he will mature as well and become more dominant. -
Here's a crazy idea... Instead of going from zero to 2 spring football leagues every time, why not try ONE? USFL has brand recognition and some great history, and spring football can be a lot of fun. But every time it's been tried lately it's multiple leagues, which spreads the talent pool thinner and waters down the product, plus cannibalizes the viewing audience. Put all of the talent, money, players, coaches, executives, and broadcast partners who want to make spring football work together in one league and really try it.

Rodgers Disgruntled with Packers

If the Packers trade for Julio Jones all of a sudden this will all be "a huge media creation" and the problem would go right away -
Rodgers Disgruntled with Packers

Pride gets in the way and everyone loses... Except Rodgers loses the least. Yes, he has to give up the $$ but he has a ton and he will eventually play somewhere. the real losers in this are Lafleur, who might have to go back to getting McVay his coffee after a season with Love at QB, and the GM, who will have bumbled his way out of a HOF QB with nothing to show for it. I think I feel the worst for Lefleur, who has no control over any of this and will take the fall. -
Rex Burkhead-- signing with Texans
TheFunPolice replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't imagine voluntarily going to the Texans right now. -
All-time greats have the chance Peyton played in 4 Super Bowls and could easily have been in 1-2 more if a few things went his way in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers loses in the NFC Title game pretty much every season it seems. Brady has been in 10 and won 7, at least 2 of which (Seattle and Atlanta) he had no business winning, but you've gotta be in the game to win it! If the Bills can get to 5-6 Super Bowls with Allen and Diggs they'll likely win a few.

A Lot of Bills stars Were at OTA's But 1 Star Was Not .
TheFunPolice replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We've come a long way as fans... When I was a kid it was "check out my Thurmanator poster!" Now, we're discussing the ejection fraction of Star's heart and whether he has underlying medical conditions that explain his absence from a voluntary minicamp in May -
New NFL-NFLPA Covid protocols
TheFunPolice replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody forces anyone to get up and go to work everyday.. it's a choice we all make, just like this. The NFL/NFLPA are apparently going to make it extremely enticing to get the shot, and extremely inconvenient to not get it. But it's still a choice.- 236 replies

It's pretty cool that current players are willing to help guys from other teams out like this I get retired guys doing it, but you're helping your opponents this way as well.

Rodgers Disgruntled with Packers
TheFunPolice replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could be a good team for a 3 way trade: Texans get 3 1sts Packers get Watson Some other team gives up 3 1sts and gets Rodgers I'm really looking forward to seeing Stafford on a good team with a real coach finally. They gave Green Bay a game last year and beat Tampa during the season. That's with Goff, the Madden controller QB. They can absolutely win the NFC. Early prediction for the NFC Title Game: Rams and Packers (assuming Rodgers is still on the Packers). And we all know how NFC Title Games go when Rodgers plays! -
Urban just can’t quit Tebow! (Update - Cut by Jags)
TheFunPolice replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ultimately, the Jaguars are somehow interesting now, and this is entertainment! So it's a big W for the Jaguars organization! -
I bet we were trying to move up for Paye when he fell that far. We almost got him as it was.

Mahomes reminds me so much of Peyton Manning. Of course there are differences in their games (Mahomes is more mobile, but most QBs are) but both want the big chunk plays. Peyton wasn't thought of as having a strong arm, but he wanted big chunk passes, and that's why his teams struggled sometimes in the playoffs. You could take that away and force him to nickel and dime you, which frustrated him, and he would still try those throws and start making mistakes. Manning wanted to chuck it deep every play if he could. Brady would (and will) happily take 5, 7, 11, 7 , 10, 15, 7, and all of a sudden it's first and goal. Like Manning's teams, the Chiefs want to send their track stars on 45 yard routes. When it doesn't work their offense doesn't work (see the Super Bowl). Yes, the OL was an issue, but when they get frustrated they try to force things deep, thinking that any moment Hill will get open for a 60 yard TD. It works a lot of the time, so you can't blame them I guess. Hey, Peyton went to 4 Super Bowls and has 2 rings, so it worked out OK. Mahomes will probably get more cracks at rings in his career. He's already been to 2 Super Bowls in 3 seasons as a starter, and really should have been in 3 straight. How does this relate to Allen's game? To me, the most surprising thing is how Allen has quickly become a much more polished passer than most of us expected. He isn't just a super athletic big guy who can jump over LBers and chuck the ball 70 yards. He's still that, but now he also is becoming incredibly proficient in distributing the ball and protecting himself from taking those big shots. At the end of the day, if Allen continues on this trajectory the Bills are going to win a Super Bowl, because if you have a great HC (we do) and a top 5 QB (we very well might and maybe already do) then you're going to play in the big game at least once.
