For quite a while now, Russ and the Seahawks have been sitting on opposite ends of the couch every night, TV on as background while each stares blankly into their phones in silence. The only time either perks up is when that text from "mom" or "dad" comes in and they realize they forgot to silence the phone. Now, we're hearing that Russell and the Seahawks have decided to take different rooms because each "sleeps better alone." This isn't good.

I wonder if a 3 way trade happens: Wilson to Chicago for 3 1sts Dak to Seattle for 2 1sts Dallas gets 2 firsts for Dak Seattle gets Dak and a first for Wilson Chicago gets Wilson Then, Dallas turns to their friends across the state and send 4 1sts (2 of theirs, plus the 2 they got for Dak) to Houston for Watson. Houston ends up with 4 1st round picks from a variety of teams for Watson.

Imagine if Aaron Rogers had the intensity and drive that Brady does. He might actually win an NFC Title Game once in a while... What Brady has done to play this long is very simple: an insane, almost maniacal dedication to diet, fitness, and study, plus a little bit of luck in terms of injuries. It's not complicated, but few (if any) can keep it up because you have to sacrifice so much for it. If a guy's body holds up and he's really good then he could play well into his 40's. It's the "body holding up" part that is the kicker. Peyton Manning would still be playing if his body didn't fall apart on him. He had the same intensity as Brady but his neck/nerve issues took him out of the game. No amount of yoga or avocado is going to help degenerative neck issues. QBs that are top notch actually get better and better as they get older. Brady has won the majority of his Super Bowls AFTER age 37. Just think about that. If he retired when guys used to he would have 3 rings.

Jerry Hughes restructuring? Rumor...
TheFunPolice replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing Beane and McDermott have done is spend $$ on the DL. I can absolutely see them going after a free agent DE for top $$. We need a pass rush, and they obviously just watched Mahomes fail to score a single TD in the Super Bowl. -
Eagles submit rules change to onside kick

that's one ticky tack PI flag from Brady getting a 1st and 10. the other team would never see the ball the entire game! -
Few realize just what a workout and study freak Allen really is, and how disciplined he is. He has said he studies Brady and wants to follow his system. Josh is going to win a Super Bowl here if he keeps this career arc going, which there is no reason to think he won't. As far as Mahomes and Allen and comparisons go... The AFC is going to be a lot of fun for quite a while. Guys like Allen and Mahomes have the potential to be around and playing at a high level in their late 30's or even early 40's. That's a lot of years of games and potential playoff meetings.

Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
TheFunPolice replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Makes sense. There is no real reason not to just wait a few extra weeks. Plus, the NFL would dominate the post Super Bowl week/weeks with all the coaching news in what would be one of the down times. -
Watson vs Allen.
TheFunPolice replied to Marvlevydraftdaygenius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stafford is really going to surprise some people, I think. For the first time he has a real coach who is actually good at what he does, and a pretty good roster of talent on offense and defense. -
I would bet that if they lost the ticket, most of those 2 million would walk, meaning they lose 1/8 of their customers almost immediately. Plus they wouldn't get joy out of denying people the chance to give them hundreds of dollars for the ticket. I really think it makes their day when they turn a potential customer and $400 away. That's how dumb the company is. The biggest difference between up and coming companies and fading old dinosaurs like Direct TV is that Amazon never saw a dollar it didn't want. Direct TV LOVES telling you that they don't want your money.

Watson vs Allen.
TheFunPolice replied to Marvlevydraftdaygenius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Josh Allen is better than Watson, but it's not by a lot. But enough to make a big difference over a career. I'll say it right now: Josh Allen is going to win a Super Bowl with the Bills. He will play for a long time, barring crazy injuries. What sets Allen apart is his insane level of hunger to improve. He's said many times that Tom Brady is the guy he studies, and I see a lot of Brady in him, in terms of his approach to training and improving. Allen has incredible discipline and trains like crazy. Just look at his improvement in a couple of short years, and he will continue to get better. As much as I am sick of Brady, he is openly showing young QBs how to do what he has done, in terms of longevity and success. Few have the determination and willpower to follow, though. Allen might. The day after the Super Bowl Brady was talking with coaches about how to improve next year. I see Allen wired a similar way: super competitive, insanely hard worker, and trains like a madman. Allen is already playing smarter, taking fewer big hits, relying on his physical abilities to run a lot less, and picking and choosing his spots. He was a pocket passer this season, tossing pretty looking passes right on target. That's a mile away from even last season, let alone his rookie year. If Allen plays this way and has this level of fire in him, he could easily play at a top 5 level into his late 30's early 40's. The key for the Bills is to keep investing in the OL and offense. Keep Allen protected. Keep him healthy and the Bills will be in the mix just about every year for the next 15 years. -
And now, so many networks are taking their most popular shows and putting them exclusively on new streaming networks, devaluing their channels on cable/dish even more.

The biggest plus to it going somewhere else is that there won't be any cute little quizzes to see if you "qualify" to buy the product. I never had to take a survey to see if I was "eligible" for Amazon Prime or Netflix. Got money? Then you're Amazon's "type." You're every streaming service's "type." Direct TV has to check and see if they want your money, and often they don't. That's because their business model is dumb. Just being able to pay money and get the product without a giant headache would be huge for out of market fans. In the past, I would have been all over this, but Red Zone has really made the ticket irrelevant, unless you are an out of town fan wanting to see your team's entire game.
-
Other have said it, and it's true. Direct TV loses Sunday Ticket and they are done. In that event, they will probably merge with Dish (like Sirius and XM) to achieve better economies of scale for those who have no other option than satellite TV due to rural locations. Once streaming become viable everywhere satellite TV is done. Cable will still exist as an ISP. Despite what the streamers say in online forums, we shouldn't celebrate just yet. These streaming networks that currently get $2-$3 per cable/dish/hulu subscriber are not just going to take the loss. We will still pay the same eventually, it will just be streaming.

Deshaun Watson officially requests trade from Houston
TheFunPolice replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Houston had some nice players, especially on defense. Clowney was a nice tandem with Watt, netting 9 sacks Watson's first 2 seasons. Coaching was never great in Houston or Detroit, but other than Calvin Johnson (in his Megatron days) I can't think of a single Lions player of note aside from Stafford. I'm not saying Stafford is better, don't get me wrong. I am saying that Stafford is going to shock some people now that he FINALLY has a real coach and a good team around him. Watson just reminds me of him: lots of stats, not a lot of winning, although more W's than Stafford at the same point in their careers. -
Deshaun Watson officially requests trade from Houston
TheFunPolice replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Stafford/Watson conversation is interesting... Stafford is actually someone I thought of for a Watson comparison. Both put up stats, and both are very good. Both also play(ed) for terrible franchises, although the Texans were halfway respectable until this past season. Watson had a pretty nice supporting cast, whereas Stafford never really did. What did the Texans in was giving O'Brien the power to destroy the team with idiotic moves that left them without star players or draft picks, which takes some real doing. With all the moves they made they should at least have a nice boatload of draft picks. Somehow they have nothing. That and hiring a televangelist as the team president.
