  1. The Saints are going to be a mess this year I think, losing Brees plus so many other players. They go from top seed status to just a random 8-8 team, IMO. Might as well take the worst of the cap hit this year and draft a QB high in 2022.
  2. We can plug a hole at DT with one of these players in the mid-rounds: (all text from WalterFootball.com) Tedarrell Slaton, DT, Florida Height: 6-5. Weight: 343. Projected 40 Time: 5.6. Projected Round (2021): 3-5. Tyler Shelvin*, DT, LSU Height: 6-3. Weight: 346. Projected 40 Time: 5.55. Projected Round (2021): 3-5. Naquan Jones, DT, Michigan State Height: 6-4. Weight: 339. Projected 40 Time: 5.4. Projected Round (2021): 4-6. Quinton Bohanna, DT, Kentucky Height: 6-4. Weight: 367. Projected 40 Time: 5.66. Projected Round (2021): 4-6.
  3. Gronk is just a name at this point. I would rather talk Lee Smith into playing for 1 more year.
  4. Class act, and a true great. I feel bad for Brees that his career ended with 4 straight heartbreaking losses in the playoffs when his team was supposed to win. New Orleans has been totally stacked for years now on offense and defense, which is why they are in cap hell now. If you think about it, the Saints just had a span of 4 consecutive seasons where they really should have been in 3 or 4 of the last Super Bowls. Can't win a 2nd ring if you're not in the game. 4 years in a row of heartbreak and coming up short... The Minnesota Miracle The Rams non called PI The Saints getting called for PI in the end zone in OT to end the game The Cook fumble when the Saints were about to put the game away against TB this year in the 3rd quarter and go up 14 Brees very easily could have retired with 3 rings, maybe even 4. But you have to get to the game to win it.
  5. My #1 wish list item is a DE who has proven able to rush the passer. That is what is missing from an otherwise pretty solid defense. Next would be an interior lineman. The market will be flooded with guards this year, and Beane has shown an ability to find quality lineman at a good price. Get another solid guard in here to compete with Ford or at least offer solid depth. You can't have too many good OL. All it takes is one interior lineman going down and suddenly we're in big trouble. This would be huge insurance for this season. You might even get a quality player on a 1 year deal, given the circumstances with the cap this season. A guy might figure that playing on a top offense with Josh Allen would allow him to cash in big next year. Finally, we need another option in the passing game, either TE or WR. Diggs, Beasley and Davis is nice, but if one gets nicked up things drop off very quickly. Maybe the draft is the place to go there, but if there is a solid veteran type guy that can produce, bring him in on a 2-3 year deal.
  6. I think it's about money already paid to the player that would have been accounted for in future years comes due at retirement. Otherwise, teams would have all sorts of money paid out to players that was never accounted for anywhere in the cap number. I still say that if the league allows op outs this year, and it is a negotiated deal between player and team as is being speculated, that the Bills ask Star to opt out this year and just pay him $500,000 or so and have next to no cap hit, then he can retire next season on June 1, splitting the dead cap between 2022 and 2023. Everyone wins... Star essentially is retired but gets an extra half million, and the Bills free up a big chunk of cap space. The only thing is that there might not be opt outs this season.
  7. I have only heard that on this thread. I was mostly responding to the person who said it here. Hopefully it's not true.
  8. Star dropping a bunch of weight makes him useless to the defense, sadly. What he should have been doing this year is putting in the work in the dining room to be the biggest, best version of his 1DT self. Luckily, our future big DT (which is something Beane and McDermott obviously want in their defense) is named Slayton and he's in this draft coming up! There's a couple of giant DT's actually, that would make sense as mid-round picks to get a young giant guy in the system for cheap to play that role.
  9. This is a great deal for all sides. The guys on WGR brought up a great point this morning: everyone said over the last year that there was probably no way the Bills could keep White, Dawkins and Milano. Not only did we keep all 3, but the cap is not too tight, especially considering the drop.
  10. What if Star is thinking of retiring, but the team asks him to opt out this year instead, making his cap hit almost nothing this season and absorbing the acceleration next season once the cap goes up? If it's a deal between teams and players this time around, as opposed to a flat rate, then the Bills could say "take an extra 500,00 or 750,000 and wait a year to call it a career." Everyone wins. His cap hit drops to almost nothing, and he gets to pocket some extra cash that he would not see if he retires now.
  11. Very reasonable money. Didn't see this coming!
  12. MEGATRON! And he was great with him. The team stunk, though. But Stafford and Megatron put up some numbers together.
  13. Worked out just fine without them in the Super Bowl, although I wonder how much Reid's son threw them off in that game as well. It seemed like there was none of the creativity we were used to, just snap the ball, Mahomes runs around like crazy, and the WR or TE drops the ball when it hits him in the face or hands.
  14. He is hurt by it, I get it. Poor guy played for America's team, in the red white and blue and had the honor of donning that helmet for 2 years. It's tough to give that up!
  15. So the Bills have around 15 million in space now, with another 2 or so coming when Lee Smith retires, for 17 million in cap space.
  16. Yes he does, and you better believe that Seattle brings it up every chance it gets!
  17. Oh, that's another thing... Seattle wanted to know why "Gruden" keeps texting but Russ said that's his nickname for his uncle Chuck. It's their inside joke. No biggie. And BTW, Seattle, who is this "Dak" who keeps calling and hanging up when I answer?!
  18. protect Josh Allen and keep building the offense. A lot was made of how the Super Bowl "proved" that defense wins, but KC had their top 2 tackles out, and look what happened.
  19. For quite a while now, Russ and the Seahawks have been sitting on opposite ends of the couch every night, TV on as background while each stares blankly into their phones in silence. The only time either perks up is when that text from "mom" or "dad" comes in and they realize they forgot to silence the phone. Now, we're hearing that Russell and the Seahawks have decided to take different rooms because each "sleeps better alone." This isn't good.
  20. Russ was 3 yards from going back to back SB wins so early in his career and he blew it, plain and simple.
  21. I wonder if a 3 way trade happens: Wilson to Chicago for 3 1sts Dak to Seattle for 2 1sts Dallas gets 2 firsts for Dak Seattle gets Dak and a first for Wilson Chicago gets Wilson Then, Dallas turns to their friends across the state and send 4 1sts (2 of theirs, plus the 2 they got for Dak) to Houston for Watson. Houston ends up with 4 1st round picks from a variety of teams for Watson.
  22. Imagine if Aaron Rogers had the intensity and drive that Brady does. He might actually win an NFC Title Game once in a while... What Brady has done to play this long is very simple: an insane, almost maniacal dedication to diet, fitness, and study, plus a little bit of luck in terms of injuries. It's not complicated, but few (if any) can keep it up because you have to sacrifice so much for it. If a guy's body holds up and he's really good then he could play well into his 40's. It's the "body holding up" part that is the kicker. Peyton Manning would still be playing if his body didn't fall apart on him. He had the same intensity as Brady but his neck/nerve issues took him out of the game. No amount of yoga or avocado is going to help degenerative neck issues. QBs that are top notch actually get better and better as they get older. Brady has won the majority of his Super Bowls AFTER age 37. Just think about that. If he retired when guys used to he would have 3 rings.
