  1. It's simple. The rookies to be participate in the process willingly. If they don't want to be part of it they don't have to. Playing pro football is not a right. You don't see many unhappy guys who were just drafted. Generations of wealth overnight as the result of a process they chose to enter. So unfair!
  2. hard to get too upset about another weapon on offense... But I can't see them trading up for a RB. Whatever happens, I hope this doesn't hurt our chances of getting a Mt. ________________ at DT in this draft.
  3. If NE doesn't succeed in trading up or the guy they want is gone maybe they send a high pick to SF for Jimmy G.
  4. If you and your employer come to a mutually bargained agreement, which results in you earning generational type wealth in a handful of years, rather than using your college degree and earning a tiny fraction of what you would earn playing ball, then yes, the deal was "fair" to you. Players declare for the NFL draft, meaning THEY CHOOSE to enter the system.
  5. Glad to see some uncertainty early... makes for a better show Thursday night!
  6. So no more trades then either? This is a collectively bargained aspect of sports. The PLAYERS signed off on the deal, because they know a healthy league with 32 financially viable teams is best for the largest number of guys. It also is something the players agree to in order to get the owners to share a larger % of revenues. Draft goes away=% of revenues players get goes down significantly. Plus, there's only so many spots on the Bills and Chiefs rosters. Florio will always see the cloud in the silver lining. Last year he didn't want the draft to happen, training camp to happen, the season to happen, and he latches onto endlessly covers any negative story about the NFL.
  7. If they said you didn't have to wear a mask once you get the shot everyone would sign up
  8. I think it's likely that behind closed doors Pegula agreed to waive his claims to Toronto in exchange for a clean break with the MLSE/Rogers group. The powers that be in Toronto want to be in the big boy league, which is the NFL. Now that it's clear they won't get the Bills they will focus on expansion or moving another team there. And next time around they won't need to find a "97 rocker" who will promise to move to Tonawanda full time and buy a canal boat as a PR stunt. They will be able to just be open about their intentions, which 100% always were buying the Bills upon Mr. Wilson's passing and moving them to Toronto. And really, if it weren't for Pegula, who nobody had ever heard of when the original Toronto deal was signed, it would have happened. Nobody else was a serious bidder at $1 billion +. Their plan was crystal clear: say whatever you need to until the ink is dry and money changes hands. Then "economic realities" and "changing circumstances" magically happen. IMO, it's also not totally insane to say that the Bills recent success and the emerging superstar QB status of Josh Allen have done a lot to solidify the team here. With the level of fan passion, seats selling like crazy, and attention on the Bills, there won't be a window to make a case about moving the team for the next generation, and in that time there will be a new/totally refurbished stadium and a 30 year lease.
  9. Epenesa was pretty solid in the second half of the season I thought...
  10. That's what doesn't make sense. They would be hard pressed to break even overall in any trade, unless they are willing to drop WAY down the board, and even then, a first from a good team would be the compensation.
  11. If he makes sense to draft at 35, I would take him at 30. You also get the extra year under contract.
  12. The Bills drafting a DT that is less than 340 pounds would hurt... I would get over it, but still, so close but so far away...
  13. I just remember him sitting with Aaron Rogers, talking about how he was going to win more Super Bowls than Brady. Now, he's still young, and Brady won the majority of his Super Bowls after age 37, but still.
  14. Did Beane mention drafting a DT the size of a mountain?
  15. After watching that special on his injury and recovery, it's amazing that he was able to come back and play in NFL games. Nothing left to prove, and not worth the risk of further injury to that leg. He's got a boatload of money, a great family, and proved that he overcame that horrific injury.
  16. Many other teams' fans focus on the hurdling LB'ers, crazy escapes, insane run plays, crazy strong arm throws and play the "yeah but" game. But Allen is one of the most disciplined and dedicated QBs in the NFL. His training and study routine is nuts, even by NFL standards. You don't improve the way he did since his rookie year without putting in some serious work. Since he is so freakishly gifted athletically people don't realize that as much (yet) but they will once we get to the part where Allen is leading the Bills to the Super Bowl. Then there will be time for the deep dive interviews on how he got here from his rookie season.
  17. If a team had 2 2nd rounders in 2021 I might trade down to draft 3 times in the 2nd round, ours plus the other team's 2. That's still just 1 more pick than we would have had but 3 in the top 64. Prime lineman territory there.
  18. You know who else dropped off last year? Jordan Phillips, the giant DT who ran wild here next to Oliver and when he went elsewhere vanished. Oliver is an exciting, quick, penetrating type DT. Phillips is a 340+ pound DT who can rush the passer. Star is an absolutely immoveable object. Not as big as I would like, but extremely strong and plenty big enough. That was a nice rotation to mix and match at DT. 2/3 of those guys were either gone or didn't play last year. That matters a lot. Oliver is going to feast this year with Star coming back AND (hopefully) the addition of another huge DT in the draft.
  19. The thing is, you want to continue to build depth. The Bills with the addition of Pitts, for example, but no other 2021 or 2022 picks of note are not better than the Bills with a playmaker at 30 and a full slate of picks this year and next. Tre White was a late 1st round pick. I wouldn't hate moving up a FEW spots to the mid-20's if there is a guy the Bills love, because it wouldn't cost a 1st to do it.
  20. The defense has been pretty good, and guys like Epenesa and Oliver have shown some flashes that are very encouraging. BUT I think Beane should draft a 350+ pound DT this year just to show you what he's made of!
  21. Just wait until we get our "block out the sun" sized DT this draft and Star comes back, hopefully bulked up and ready to occupy blockers. It's a huge part of McDermott's defense. You need the giant DT to occupy so the LBers and other DT can run wild.
  22. with QBs being the first 7 picks in the draft, other plays will slide down to us!
  23. That makes sense, although it looks like the table was already pre-cut, WWE style, for easy breaking.
